I received this ratchet set in great condition. With 13 pieces: ratchet, extension and 11 sockets ranging from 7/8 in. to 1 1/2”. It appears to be made well and operates very smoothly. I started using it on a mid-size tractor I was working on with different size larger bolts and nuts the sockets all grabbed the nut and bolt heads with no slippage. I think it is reasonably priced for a set with a sturdy carrying case. I would recommend this set.

This “GearWrench 3/4 in. Drive 12-Point Ratchet and Socket Set (13-Piece)” is a fantastic set! Very sturdy, and well made. Excellent quality of materials and comes in a super convenient tool box, making storage and transport, (my son-in-law borrowed it!) very easy! Everything came back in the same condition/tool box that I loaned it to him. You will be pleased with this set.

Great set for when you are dealing with larger nuts/bolts. Really good quality for the price = value. While 3/4 inch drive is not something most people will use every day, if you need something where you can apply a little more torque on larger fasteners this is just the ticket. My 1/2 inch set did not contain the larger socket sizes I needed and I was tired of purchasing individual sockets and making due. I am all about having the right tool for the job and this certainly fits the bill. The 3/4 inch ratchet is a lot beefier too, so I am less worried about busting something. The 12 point sockets with Surface Drive technology provide a greater bearing surface when working in situations where a lot of torque is required. The 24 point ratchet combined with the 12 point socket means I can get a socket on a bolt even when space is relatively tight. Another major plus is it comes with a metal case as opposed to the typical blow-molded cases that I hate. They take up too much room and either you have to pry the sockets out of the plastic or they simply fall all over the place when you open the case. Great for working on the tractor! My set was made in Taiwan as opposed to PRC and the quality of the finish is flawless. Great set and great value from a well respected company. If you need a 3/4 inch socket set you certainly can’t go wrong with choosing this Gearwrench set.

Gear Wrench 13 pc. 12 pt. socket set The good, it comes with a nice solid case with foam padding a separate area for the sockets and a handle. The kit also comes with an extension. The wrench has a push-button socket release so changing sockets is a breeze. The direction lever is nice and large and easy to move. The sockets themselves have large engravings on them so reading the size is pretty easy even low light. the 12pt socket has more teeth so better grip and less chance of stripping a bolt. The cons, The foam in the case isn’t well cut and doesn’t fit perfectly and tears. It would have been nice to see the foam attached to the case to keep it from sliding around. The wrench head and handle are connected by a pin causing the handle to move left and right free to the head. Another note is the wrench has a pretty low teeth count (24) so working in tight areas might be a little challenging. This could be a con or a plus – the ball on the ratchet has to aline with the hole in the socket or it’s not securely on there. Just a little insight 12 point sockets had a tendency to round off 6 point bolts. I have not personally experienced this with this set possibly due to Gear Wrenchs Surface drive technology but might be something to keep in mind. Overall the set is a good strong well-built utilitarian kit to have if you frequently encounter large bolts but the investment might not be worth it if you don’t encounter such large bolts as frequently. If you don’t plan on using this very much and already have 1/2 drive tools just buying larger sockets on a case by case basis might be a cheaper route.

If you ever had to work on galvanized well pipe you will greatly appreciate this heavy duty ratchet set. 84 tooth ratchet is really awesome and a great improvement over the standard 60 tooth. Thinner head means you can get into tighter spots easier. Quality is very good. We used it yesterday and performed flawlessly. Comes with a great metal case. Now if I can only get my workers to use the case? Seriously, the sockets are really well made and overall an excellent product!

Sometimes you just need something bigger, more torque, more oomph. This 13 piece ¾ inch 12-Point Ratchet and Socket Set by GearWrench provides just that. Something bigger. It is heavy duty and no nonsense. The set includes what you need, one super heavy duty ratchet, a middle sized extension, and 11 sockets that range in size from 7/8 inch to 1 ½ inches. The ratchet is well made with smooth, somewhat quiet but strong action. The ratchet’s directional control is easy enough to switch between settings and the action feels positive. The quick release button has a short travel to enact a quick release of sockets. The included and labeled 8 inch extension is just the right length, not too short and not too long. As mentioned, the sockets are twelve point. They are easy to slip onto nuts and bolts but still provide the grip you need when you supply the oomph. Everything feels a bit heavy and everything is coated with a nice shiny chrome plating. The metal storage case is the appropriate storage device for this set and keeps things organized. I used the set to tighten the nuts of the hitch pins on my 6’ rake and all I can say is wow. If you have equipment or otherwise work with larger nuts and bolts, this is the ¾” SAE Ratchet and Socket Set you’ve been looking for.

I received my 3/4 in. Drive 12-Point Ratchet and Socket Set. It has 13 pieces and comes in a sturdy metal storage case with carrying handle. The kit includes: 7/8″, 15/16″, 1″, 1-1/16″, 1-1/8″, 1-3/16″, 1-1/4″, 1-5/16″, 1-3/8″, 1-7/16″, 1-1/2″, quick release ratchet and a 8 inch extension. The set is made of chrome vanadium steel for strength. The finish on the tools are a bright chrome & will be easy to keep clean with this smooth finish. This is a very nice kit to have when working on cars, trucks and tractors when you have to deal with big nuts & bolts. I wish the sizes were easier to read on the sockets.

This is an absolute awesome socket set. The Gear Wrench 3/4 inch drive is the most rugged toolset I have ever seen. The sockets range from 7/8 to 1 1/2 inch, so these will easily tackle any big job that you are facing. The eight inch extension is also rugged, but the size and weight of the racket is most impressive. The ratchet has a button on it that allows for quick release of the sockets or extension. The quality of Gear Wrench tools never disappoints, these will certainly last a lifetime.

The ratchet and socket set are well built and the sockets and most of the ratchet are finished in polished chrome. The 0.9” (23 mm) diameter ratchet handle is 18.5” (47 mm) from the center of the socket drive. The end of the handle has 5.5” (14 cm) of knurling for a good grip. The handle is inserted into the drive head and held in place with a single pin. There is a little play in this connection which results in about 3/16” (~5 mm) of movement at the end of the handle. This takes a little away from the otherwise solid feel of the wrench, which weighs 5.6 lbs (2.5 kg) by itself. In case you are wondering, a 1” Schedule 40 pipe easily slips over the end of the round handle if you need a “cheater” bar for additional leverage. No instructions came with the set that prohibits this, but it may void the limited lifetime warranty depending on the manufacturer’s assessment of any failure. The set comes with an extension that is nominally 8” long (actual: 7-7/8”) with a usable extension length of 7”. The ratchet mechanism operates smoothly and takes 24 clicks to go 360 degrees—15 degrees per click. The head has a generously sized socket release button at 0.7” in diameter. However, the sockets, and extension, only have one hole (rather than the typical four internal indentions of smaller drive sets), so the hole needs to be lined up with the spring-loaded locking ball to be held in place. The sockets have what GearWrench calls “Surface Drive Technology” that provides a wider bearing surface on a hex surface and is claimed to prevent rounding of fasteners. The 12 “points” of the sockets are slightly rounded to provide the wider contact area. Looks like it makes sense to me. See photos for an “ordinary” socket beside the GearWrench socket. The set comes in a metal case that is somewhat different than the website photos and the photo on the box. Those photos show a case that is about twice the height/depth of the actual case. The actual inside height of the case is about the depth of the largest socket. (See photos for comparison.) This is not really a complaint as the smaller case is easier to store and transport, and there is still room for two larger sockets and a swivel I already had. See photo. The complaint that I do have is the difference between the handle depicted and what arrived. The depicted handle looks to be about ¾” wide– typical of other metal toolboxes I have that weigh about the same, or less. The “wire” handle is about 3/8” (9 mm) diameter which is uncomfortable when carrying the 18 lb (~8 kg) set. The handle is also on the side of the case rather than on the top, so you need to make sure that the latches are closed to avoid dumping out the contents. The outside dimensions of the case, which is finished in a nice hammered gray coating, are 21” long, 4-13/16” wide and 2-7/16” deep. The set was made in the Republic of China (Taiwan).
