GearWrench introduced the original patented five-degree ratcheting wrench in 1996 and quickly became a go-to brand for professional automotive technicians. The innovation didn’t stop there. Year after year, the GearWrench brand continues to expand its line-in ratcheting tools and beyond-to help automotive and industrial technicians get their jobs done faster and easier. Having the right tool for the job is critical and technicians working in cramped spaces understand better than anyone the power of this simple statement. I got this set to fill in some missing metric sockets and to fill out my deep socket set in metric for 1/4″ and 3/8″ drive. The tamper proof Torx bit sockets was a bonus. The ratchets themselves are very high quality (84-tooth). The backs are sealed which is an improvement over my current Craftsman and Snap-on ratchets. Though this does make them a little thicker and not so good for very tight spaces. The sockets are not thin-wall but feel very sturdy. Only time will tell, but there is a Lifetime warrantee (also time will tell). The set comes in a very nice double walled plastic valise type case, but it does not close tightly so several of the sockets come loose and rattle around. I did not intend to use the case so this isn’t a bother to me. If you did want to use the set like that then a foam insert custom cut for the case would probably hold things in place better. There are a few fit-and-finish issues such as on of the 1/4″ sockets had a shaving of metal stuck in it and a few of the sockets had some non-finished machine edges. The plating finish is excellent on all parts though.

In the process of replacing tools that were outdated and not functional any more. This set has both metric and SAE which makes it nice to have. A complete set that covers just about all kinds of bolts, nuts and everything in between. It is not for working on heavy equipment because it does not have the larger sockets and wrenches, but is perfect for the DIY’er or a small machine shop repair kit. These tools were made for everyday use and have a small turning arch when turning the socket wrenches. So far they are working great and have had no problems in their use. As I use them more and more I will followup this review with a new one if they start to go bad and not function as well as they do now.

For the price I don’t think there’s anything out there that compares. I was looking for a smaller tool kit and a toolbox to display the tools n my bench. This product does both. I’m very happy with the purchase.

Nice little set with a little of everything…. bought it to have in my tool box on my side x side for emergency’s. The ratchet feels cheap so hopefully it holds up.

I’ve always bought cheaper sets that never last.I decided to spend a little more on this set.I’ve already used these multiple times and they are great.I’m almost looking forward to my vehicles breaking down soI can use them. The true test will be to see if they last.As for now definately woth it.

Great set of high quality tools. As others noted the blow molded case did not secure the tools adequately and around 20% of them where loose in the case. That said, everything was there and I’m not worried about some minor scuffing. If you’re worried about scuffing or looking to keep this kit in your car then I would maybe look elsewhere. Fit and finish on the tools seem top notch, the ratchets have good action, and the kit includes almost everything you need for basic car maintenance and odd jobs around the house.

I bought this for common tasks around the house and odd jobs at relatives. It is fairly complete. The tools are in the drawers. An empty small top compartment accommodates a pair of pliers, hammer, tape measure and small saw. I’d give 5 stars if those tools were included.

Real nice! This a great set of tools. A great selection of size, both standard and metric The quality is very nice and sturdy. I do wish that the size markings were a bit easier to see. Comes in a very nice, sturdy, low profile case. This set would make a great gift for your do it your seller. This set is perfect for helping to maintain my mowers and car.

First with the not so good. I removed and opened the set from the factory box that was sealed as well as all four latches on the case being latched. The sockets, wrenches, extensions were everywhere. Not a great way to start. I put everything back hoping it was just a shipping issue but it did it again. If you look at the photos, the one showing the set is from gently standing up the set with all 4 latches secured. If I were to throw it into my truck, it would be much worse. I cut a piece of cardboard to go between the top and bottom (other photo if it comes through) and it seems to be keeping everything in it’s place so far. The sockets have the size etched on them which is great but in direct light, the chrome gives a lot of reflection making them hard to read Now for the good. The metric sockets have etched marks which makes it much easier to choose the right size. It really is a good assortment to fit most sizes. Not a lot of wrenches but sockets to fit most needs. Being chrome, the sockets and wrenches wipe clean easily with the exception of the markings. That’s not a bad thing. A little grease on the markings makes them easier to read. The 84 tooth ratchet is really nice. It advances the socket when you have a very small area to work in. The ratchets have simple levers on the back to easily switch directions. They haven’t hung up on me once. Although a piece of cardboard is needed, the case still has it’s value. there are four latches, 2 in front and one on each side. Everything in the top of the case pops in and stays in place without cardboard, for the most part. Not much of the bottom of the case has anything to retain them but the sizes are clearly marked on the case so it’s not too rough to put everything back. Overall, it’s a decent set. It does have it’s pros but the tools rolling around when latched is a deal breaker for me.

Some of the chrome is coming of the sockets. This causes small cuts when grabbing them. A little bit inconvent.
