The GEARWRENCH locking extensions are a must for professional and industrial users. The locking mechanism holds the socket on the extension allowing the user to reach the most obscure locations without worry that the socket will fall off. The knurled grip provides non-slip surface. When it comes to any socket, wrench related tools Gearwrench makes the best for the money, and these Locking Extensions demonstrate that. They are well made, smooth and strong locking mechanism with a nice texture. It’s not often I need locking extensions but when you’re trying to work in area’s that risk losing your socket like a truck engine bay these are really a good insurance.

The locking collar was very secure on all three extensions. By pulling the locking collar back; firmly pressing the socket onto the extension; and sliding the collar back in place, I was not able to shake the sockets off the extensions. I even tried pulling on the sockets. Only the 3-inch extension had slight movement, but the socket never released from the extension. The locking collar is about the same diameter as a ¼ inch socket, so you don’t have to worry about fitting into tight spaces. (See Images Below)The chrome finish is consistent on all 3 extensions, and both the 3 and 6-inch extensions have a texture cut into the extension for added grip.I am looking forward to using these extensions often. I am very pleased with the quality and how well they work!

I really like these extensions. The locking tip makes all the difference when using lower quality sockets which may fit loose on regular extensions.Super easy to use and the tips is good quality so it should last like any high quality tool.Gearwrench has an excellent reputation. The 3 different lengths are a nice bonus. I would have preferred a 3, 6, and 9 inch as I think a longer would get more use than a 2 inch extension but that is just me.The chrome finish is very well done and should last wellOverall, nicely made set which should be in everyone’s 1/4 inch socket set.

These extenders are certainly handy but the sockets don’t stay firmly attached to them. You have to pull/push back the knurled knob to put the socket. Once the socket is on though it will slip off fairly easily. This could be a problem if you are using the extender to get into a tight spot. It will be easier for the socket to pull off of the extender and stay stuck to the bolt you were working on. The extender that comes with my socket set is a much more secure fit.I have Craftsman sockets so substandard sockets are not in play here.
