Finally! An affordable good quality fine tooth ratchet set that doesn’t skip teeth and can take abuse. The finish on this GearWrench ratchet set is perfect. The low profile heads on these ratchets allow them to fit in places my other ratchets don’t. 84 teeth means you aren’t wasting movement without ratchet engagement in those really tight spots. You can spend the same money for just one ratchet from a different manufacturer and not get the quality and performance you get out of this set of three.

This is a really great set of ratchets the include 1/4″, 3/8″, and !/2″. They have a very smooth ratcheting action which allows you to remove or install bolts and nuts easier. I got these to replace an old set of craft mans which were wore out. The handle grips easily in your hand for a not slip action. I do miss the button release found on my old ratchets.

They are all very well built, have nice fine ratchets and the best price I could find anywhere.

These are professional grade ratchets. The fit and finish are first rate. I really like the low profile heads. The direction lever is flush and easy to flip. They are fine toothed and will be nice for tight spots. They feel balanced in your hand. Sockets slip on and off easily. GearWrench is making some real high quality tools with all the features that professionals want. They have a lifetime warranty for peice of mind.

I received this 3-piece GearWrench ratchet set at almost the same time that I received a 270-piece mechanic’s tool set from Husky. When I compare this ratchet set with the Husky ratchets, the differences are obvious and it is clear that the Husky tools are the superior product. This ratchet set has slightly finer teeth, so that is potentially a positive attribute. However, the ratchets do not have a quick release button nor do they lock the sockets or attachments in any way. While this may not be a problem in every case, I imagine a situation where a socket gets stuck (on a rusty bolt, for instance) and the assembly pulls completely apart, leaving the socket attached to the bolt and making removal difficult (such as when working within tight spaces). These tools do have a lifetime guarantee, but for superior quality, look elsewhere.

GREAT FOR TIGHT SPACES — The GearWrench 1/4 in., 3/8 in., and 1/2 in. Drive 84-Tooth Full Polish Ratchet Set (3-Piece) is an outstanding set of ratchets. The primary advantages that they offer are that their profiles are thinner and they can ratchet with only 4.3 degrees of movement. For the 3/8″ drive, the profile is about 1/4″ thinner (see the photo). These features allow them to perform some tasks that would be difficult or impossible otherwise. For the 1/4 drive, I prefer my quick release ratchet for most tasks since it is easier to insert or remove the sockets. Removing the sockets is not an issue with the 3/8 and ½ drives. The ratchets have a lifetime warranty. They are made in Taiwan.

I’m truly impressed with what is coming out of Taiwan these days. They seems to be of much higher quality than mainland China. The 84 tooth sprocket on these is a great alternative to the lower count pieces that require more space just to get a grip on a nut/bolt. The finish is flawless, and after a few months of use, they haven’t loosened or failed.

The 1/4 in., 3/8 in. and 1/2 in. drive is all you need to tackle any job! The have a 84-tooth ratchet which only takes 4.3 degrees of ratchet arc to get the toughest job done. The low profile head is great for putting it in places where specialty tools are called for, but don’t have. It’s flush mounted lever can’t interfere with the way they are being used. It even has On/Off so you can’t get wrong!!!

1/4 in., 3/8 in. and 1/2 in. Drive 84-Tooth Full Polish Ratchet Set (3-Piece) – I have been recommending GearWrench tools for a while and here’s why: the fit and finish of their ratchets, sockets and wrenches is flawless. I have never found a rough edge, bad chrome, moving parts that didn’t move smoothly, nothing. When you pick up one of these ratchets you will feel its heft; they just feel like tools and they always perform. With 84 tooth-count ratcheting they operate very efficiently with a minimum 4.3 degree ratcheting arc and the low-profile ratchet heads are great for fitting into tighter spots than fathead ratchets, also the longer handles let you put more leverage on the tool. Lastly, they are very reasonably priced for their quality compared to high end tools. For what it’s worth GearWrench covers their tools with a lifetime limited warranty, but I don’t imagine that I would ever need it.

This is the 84 tooth version, Gear Wrench has a set with 120 tooth that are much nicer, smoother and cost comparable. So I returned this eet and got a 120 set. Such is life…

This GearWrench set provides 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 inch wrenches with 84 tooth ratcheting action. That translates to a 4.3 degree swing. This is better than many wrenches but I have seen other manufactures with more teeth and less degree swing. The product is clearly well made and is supported by a limited lifetime warranty. Like many wrenches, these feature a pin detent. While it was fairly easy to take sockets on and off these wrenches, I prefer the wrenches with a release button that removes pressure from the detent to remove the socket and does not allow a socket to be removed when the button is not engaged. The low profile, flat head is a nice feature and the direction levers stay flush with the surface as well. I really appreciated the On/Off labels for the direction switch. No more testing direction before engaging a bolt! Unfortunately, the finish had scratches and gouges right out of the box. I used both wrenches with a variety of sockets to tighten and loosen numerous bolts. I was able to apply significant torque without issue and the direction switch never hesitated to move when used. Overall, this is a great set of wrenches.

The GearWrench 3-piece ratchet set consists of all the standard drive ratchet sizes: 1/4”, 3/8”, and 1/2” that you need in any home garage or work shop. These are full polished and heavy duty. The “on” or “off” selection of the ratchet action is foolproof, which I love. The handles are small and strong enough for use with a cheater bar to increase turning leverage. GearWrench makes great products and possess a lifetime warranty.

This Gearwrench 3 piece ratchet set is exactly what I needed. I was working on a project last summer and I could not find one single socket set that was complete. I ordered 4 sets plus this ratchet set so I would never be searching again. This set has a 1/4” drive, a 3/8” drive and a 1/2” drive in it. The only bad thing is no hard case for it. This will be perfect for years to come.
