I was recieved this set of 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 inch ratchets to try/test, and I gave them a brutal testing over a couple of weeks torture doing a complete tear down on an old jeep through the nights and weekends. I do this stuff for a good portion of my living. I’m not going to give out all kinds of info like other reviews. I’m just going to tell you I own every named brand ratchet of every size. Would I give them up for the gear wrench set, No, but I will tell you if I found these years ago I would have saved a bunch of money. I liked the small space between each pawl in the ratchet, so you don’t need a lot of space to operate, the height is about average for the size of the ratchet. I found the reversing mech a little hard to work sometimes. Someone said the grip was great I guess they work with clean hands, the grip is the same as all chrome smooth ratchets whether in bare skin or rubber gloves. I used them by hand and with cheater pipes, they are holding up great, are the the best ratchets available, no but they come as close to a pro tool you will get from a big retailer. I just wish I could have found these 40 years ago. Would I buy them again, I hope not since they do have a warranty. But if I need another ratchet set you bet I would.

Great solid 3 piece ratchet set. In this set you get a 1/4 in, 3/8 in and a 1/2 inch drive ratchet. It comes in a plastic holder but I think that is meant to be discarded. So far they are working great and feel well built with tight tolerances ( ie: nothing is loose and flopping around). In the pics you can see it has the center button to release the socket which I really like – it makes it so much easier to get the sockets on and off!

OMG as the kids say. I expected these ratchets to be lightweight but was I surprised! The ratchets are made from heavy materials, have a nice shiny smooth surface, and work great. The ratchet set comes in 1/4″ drive, 3/8″ drive, and 1/2″ drive. They are heavier than my Snap-On ratchets and work just as good. If you use and need ratchets I highly recommend this set.

The GearWrench 3-piece quick release teardrop handle ratchet set #81310 is a good quality tool set. The set includes 1/4 inch, 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch standard length ratchets and each has the push-button quick release feature. The finish is polished chrome and the teardrop handles are comfortable to use even without gloves. The directional lever works smoothly and the drive pawl engages the gear without any extra slop. I didn’t care for the plastic construction of the forward/reverse lever. I worry about the long-term durability and wish that GearWrench would use a metal lever. The only other complaint about this product is with its packaging in a very hard to open blister pack. I resorted to using both a utility knife and a pair of heavy-duty kitchen shears. Still I rate this set as good and recommend it for DIY and homeowner use. It’s a solid set.

Here is a great selection of ratchets from Gear Wrench. I like how the polished handles fits in my hand. The ratchet mechanism seems very secure and works well for the few times I used them. Great appearance. The quick release feature works very well too. The tool itself is very sturdy and looks like they’ll take all the abuse the average guy can throw at them. The ratchet heads can easily be taken apart to clean and lube. A great addition to my tool boxes.

I have been a builder and remodeler for 50 years this January, and of course I often have a need to use a ratchet, whether 1/2” drive, 3/8” drive, or 1/4” drive. So when I saw this 3 pack, the GEARWRENCH 1/4 IN., 3/8 IN. AND 1/2 IN. DRIVE 45 TOOTH QUICK RELEASE TEARDROP RATCHET SET (3-PIECE), I was interested. I often use ratchets in my work, and I’ve always liked the gear wrench ability to ratchet in very small spaces. I like it, and the gear wrench brand in general is always nice quality too. I definitely recommend this!

GearWrench 1/4 in., 3/8 in. and 1/2 in. Drive 45 Tooth Quick Release Teardrop Ratchet Set (3-Piece)With a lifetime guarantee, this set of 3 GearWrench Ratcheting drives is a great replacement or addition to your tool box arsenal. These drives have a nice smooth ratcheting action that make them a pleasure to use. The black button on the back of the socket wrench makes it easy to remove sockets or extensions from the socket wrench which I really like, especially when your hands are a little greasy from working on an automobile. These have become my favorite socket wrenches to use as they feel good in your hand when using them and they fit in tight spaces really well compared to my old ones. Highly recommended.

Overall, this is a nice ratchet set. Sockets are held securely to the ratchet drive until the button is pressed to release it. These ratchets have the standard 72 teeth which gives you 5 degrees of handle swing per click of the gear mechanism. I used these to remove the valve cover on my daughters car to replace the gasket that was leaking oil. No problem with sockets or socket extension falling off and no problem with the gears slipping when breaking loose the bolts. The only problem I found with this ratchet set is that the 1/4 inch drive ratchet does not click as the handle is moved backwards. The 3/8 inch and the 1/2 inch ratchets will make an audible clicking or “ratcheting” sound as your take the handle backwards. This may not seem like a problem at first, but for an experienced mechanic, it can be an inconvenience when you are reaching into places where you cannot see your hands as you are working. In these instances, you rely on feel and the sound of the ratchet to let you know if you are turning the nuts or bolts in the right direction and that they are moving one way but not the other. Without the sound, you could start tightening a bolt, then move the handle backward for another crank on the bolt but the bolt moves backward in a loosening direction with the handle. A ratchet that normally clicks will not click in that case and the absence of the sound will immediately alert you to the fact that your bolt is not tight enough to ratchet down. With this 1/4 inch ratchet, you would be fighting the bolt and making no progress. Otherwise, this is a nice ratchet set.

GearWrench and The Home Depot offer a 3 piece 1/4-3/8 and 1/2 inch driveRatchet set ! These Ratchets are nicely chromed hardened steel, not cast ! The tear drop heads and ergonomic handles are the same quality as muchmore expensive hand ratchets ! The 45 tooth action is a little stronger thanthe 60 tooth action so more torque can be applied to them ! The head, hasa button for releasing and attaching sockets or extensions !(see photos) Alsoon the head is the toggle to select the on and off actions !! A great set of tools !

This Gearwrench 1/4 in., 3/8 in. and 1/2 in drive Ratchet Set 3 pieces is a great tool set to have around the house to work on most projects with. I like all my tools I get just can’t have enough of them in your toolbox. The instructions are easy to read and follow on how to use them on certain items. I also like that it comes in a three piece set and have different sizes to use.
