Gear Wrench ½” Locking Flex Head RatchetThis ratchet seems to be very well made. It has a clean smooth chrome finish and 90 teeth in the head allowing for tightening or loosening in tight quarters. To move one tooth requires 1.6 inches of movement at the handle end. Although the head will flex 90 degrees in both directions it will not lock at 90 degrees. The greatest locking position is about 70 degrees in both directions. The ratchet mechanism and locking pawl are both hardened metal and look like they will last a long time. Both can be removed for replacement if needed. It’s 24” length will allow for some serious leverage. Overall it that rivals the high cost premium tools.appears to be a high quality tool.

This 90-tooth 1/2-inch flex head ratchet may not always be used often but when you need a 24-inch long ½-inch ratchet then it becomes a welcome alternative to having extend a standard length ratch with a pipe extension. Finish on this Gearhead ratchet is a finely polished chrome which is extremely attractive at the expense of being slippery especially when hands are greasy. Warranty on this extended ratchet is quite generous compounded by the fact it can be field rebuildable should the ratcheting require maintenance. The 24-inch length of this ratchet provides more than enough torque and I would refrain from marring the finish by using a piece of pipe to extend it’s torque.

Buy one of these and you’ll never reach for your 1/2 in, breaker bar again. I’m a DIY’er, not a professional mechanic, so this tool will get limited use. My concern, before placing my order was, “Will the ratcheting mechanism hold up to the forces applied by a two foot long handle?” Only time will tell for sure but I decided to complete the order based on my experience with the GearWrench products that I already own. I have a pretty good assortment of their wrenches, ratcheting and non-ratcheting, that I’ve been using for years and I’ve never had a failure so that’s a track record I’m willing to bet on. The head does smoothly lock into 9 different positions as advertised with a switch that’s accessible from the top or bottom of the wrench. The switch can also be left “OFF” to allow the head to swivel a full 180 degrees. The on / off switch (forward / reverse) sits in a shallow recess for better clearance and it’s easily accessible. The finish is brightly chrome plated. I should note that unlike some of my other chrome plated tools my GearWrench tools have never shown any signs of rusting even though they’re stored in an unheated garage. I’m confident this tool will outlive me by years and years. Apex Tools offers a Limited Lifetime Warranty and as with most products Home Depot sells there is a 180 day return policy.

This is WAY better than a breaker bar with a piece of pipe slipped over the handle. The 90 tooth ratchet allows you to keep the socket on the fastener instead of having to remove it with each turn.In addition to the leverage from its 24″ length, it also has a flexible head to get into tight spots. A really nice feature on this wrench is the ability to lock the flappy head into position with a locking lever. And the lever is on both sides of the wrench so it’s easy to get to.It’s the usual high quality chrome finish of GearWrench so you can clean it easily with a quick swipe from a rag.

Very nice 1/2 inch drive Ratchet wrench. Very heavy duty. Has a separate flip switch to lock in angle you need to reach, has more adjustments than one with a ball lock. The large number of drive teeth allow you to make very small ratchet movements to work in tight spaces. Has lifetime warranty. Has a nice slide switch to go from tighten to loosening. With the 24″ handle able to apply a lot of torque. I broke loose couple 3/8″ rusty bolts that were on a outside trailer for 30 years with very little effort.

This is a great tool for those hard to reach places or places with a tight fit. The tool also is very durable and light weight. It’s the perfect size to break free frozen nuts and bolts. The finish is great and the handle is comfortable to hold. It is also thin enough if a breaker bar is needed to slide over it. The pivoting head is a great feature of this tool.

This GEARWRENCH 1/2 in. Drive 90-Tooth 24 in. Locking Flex Head Teardrop Ratchet is highly recommended. Robust structure, with a locking head that can be adjusted to any angle, it has a handle long enough to allow plenty of purchase power to both loosen and tighten any 1/2 drive sockets. The ability to opt for any angle makes this great tool so useful.

Decent ratcheting wrench……………………………………………………………This is an unbiased review that is unaffected by the fact that I received this product for free. As proof of impartiality, just click on my nickname and see the average of the ratings I have given over 300 reviews to date.——–To add some insight that others may not give, I disassembled this wrench to inspect the parts. There was grease inside, so that was good. The head cover was easily removed once the c-ring clip was removed. All parts inside the head could then be removed, inspected, greased and reinstalled. All parts of this wrench are made of ferrous metal (iron/steel) except the ratchet reversing lever, which is apparently made of aluminum. I though it curious that part was made of aluminum when everything else was not. The parts inside look to be cast, not machined, so that to me seems like a weakness or at least contributing to a short lifetime of use. I would not expect to be able to get replacement parts in the future.——-The flex head parts can be removed by removing the main bolt that holds the head to the handle. The flex pawl, spring and pin can then be removed as above.——-The handle is chrome plated and very smooth, perhaps a bit too smooth at the grip. There is no scoring to make the grip less likely to slip in your hand.——-The wrench performed as expected.

Extremely nice tool for those tight hard to reach places. This is a strong, comfortable, durable tool that is a great addition to any tool collection. The finish is nice, the tool is easy to use as well. I have many uses as a lot of bolts that I need access to are in compact places. This tool works well as a breaker bar as well. It is perfect is size and weight but strong enough fohe hardest jobs.

This GEARWRENCH 1/2 IN. LOCKING FLEXHEAD RATCHET is 24 inches long and has 90 teeth to allow more control over stubborn nuts and bolts. The length gives a lot more leverage to generate a huge amount of torque that will break loose large fasteners and the flex head gives you a way angle the handle out of the way when necessary. It can flex to the inside or outside and the locking feature can be engaged on both sides of the tool. This ratchet has a high-polished chrome finish, professional teardrop handle and weighs 2 lbs. 13 oz. by itself. I used this tool to loosen several large rusty bolts on my twenty-four year old truck and also to remove a 32 mm axle nut on my car. It is a very well constructed, heavy duty, professional level ratchet. It is a brute that generates a huge amount of torque so I recommend only using it with 6-point sockets to avoid rounding off the nut or bolt. GEARWRENCH has built a very good tool here and it should last a lifetime. I definitely recommend it.

Thought this would be great to have around for when I’m working on a vehicle, among other things. I have to say I really like the length and weight of this wrench. Beyond that, I was very interested in the versatility it offers since it’s adjustable with respect to the angle desired. It has the capability to work at virtually any angle within a 180 degree spectrum. Due to its length it offers plenty of leverage for increased torque. All in all I think it’s a great addition to my tool collection. I recently used it when changing the brakes on my Ford F-150 and it worked great. Definitely one to consider.
