These 9 ½ inch tongue and groove pliers are well built and have a really good solid textured grip. They fit nicely into your hand. The design of the jaw has a slightly curved tip which allows for a much better grip of round objects such as pipes. The tongue and groove mechanism has 5 width setting stops which lock nicely so there is no slipping. A very well designed set of pliers!!

Not bad set of pliers but some drawbacks……………………………………………………This is an unbiased review that is unaffected by the fact that I received this product for free. As proof of impartiality, just click on my nickname and see the average of the ratings I have given over 200 reviews to date.Let’s start with some of the concerns.First, the jaws on the pliers are not straight like most pliers. They are concave or “V” shaped. That may make them idea for gripping pipes or other round objects, but not so good for large nuts or other flat-sided objects. This also means that the jaws are less thick and are weaker because of the concavity. Note the different in material of the other flat jaw pliers in the attached photo.Second, there is no adjusting nut on the “bolt” holding the two halves together. There is just the rivet. So as the set wears and loosens, you will not be able to compensate by tightening the nut. Now, it is true that a very reputable long-time maker of this type does not have a nut either, but I would have found that to be useful as the set aged. Maybe it’s just me.The pliers are rugged feeling and have a moderate amount of play. The jaws slide easily and the grips are adequate.

A great pliers for round objects. I had never heard of the GearWrench brand before but I’m pleasantly surprised with the quality of this tool. It feels solid and sturdy in your hand. The handle is very good feel as well. It provides excellent grip on nuts. I haven’t tried pipes yet but I see others saying its good on those. All in all a good buy if you need pliers for round objects.

These 9 1/2 in. Tongue and Groove Pliers do exactly what they are supposed to do. They are made of quality materials and have nice rubber handles. The tounge and groove is deep and locks well when you apply pressure. Since I have had them I have had no instances of slippage when tightening or loosening some tough nuts. If you need a new set of pliers you can’t go wrong with these!

I wasn’t familar with the GearWrench brand of tools. However after receiving this pair of 9 1/2 Tongue and groove pliers – I will certainly look for this brand in the future.I think the common name of these pliers is trademarked – so I won’t mention it here – although any handyman can identify a good set of tongue and groove pliers. These pliers offer 5 jaw positions for varied gripping of pipes, nuts or bolts. I really like the covered handles. They are some type of built up rubber grip. They will come in handy in those greasy or oily environments.Construction is machined, rather than cast, so I can see many years of use for these pliers. Pricing is more than competitive!

These adjustable pliers are are great for gripping round objects such as pipes, rounded nuts, or large nuts due to the shape of the grip. However, I was hesitant to use them on small nuts because I was sure that the pliers would actually round off the corners. I had left all my wrenches on a job site when I needed to loosen a very small nut on my trailer wiring and these were the only pliers I had on hand. The handled the small nut just fine without damaging it. I find that the tongue and groove adjustment on the pliers slips very easily and on more than one occasion they adjusted wider when I was just holding them between gripping nuts so I had to reset them. This is not much of an issue given their ease of use on round objects.

These pliers have an easy grip and widen up to an inch. There are 5 stops in the adjusting mechanism, so 5 width settings to grip. The mechanism (tongue and groove) locks solidly with no slipping…but is a little ‘catchy’ unless you completely open the handles. The working teeth end has a curved feature allowing for gripping round things (e.g., pipes). The handles close completely making a good hand grip easy, and the covers make it comfortable. Everything is aligned well. Good tool.

This 9 1/2 in. Tongue and Groove Pliers by Gearwrench is a well-made and strong tool with a good quality hand gripping material. It quickly and smoothly changes positions with no in-between lockup/seizing issue like my older worn out tool of the same size. I was able to use it successfully to hold black iron piping in place while I connected a natural gas line run to my dryer. The tools teeth have better curvature and gripped the round pipe perfectly!

I’ve been looking for this type of plier and comparing them online. This plier has does not have parallel jaws. It grips square or other type of plumbing valves and couplings. My problem was garden hose attachments. All my other pliers had problems chewing up the fixtures. These fit around the nut or attachment with much less damage. They also fit well in close quarters as I use gang valves. The grips are comfortable and the handle colors will be easy to spot if I drop them. Very nice pliers.

These pliers are very heavy duty. The handles have a textured grip that allows for a positive hold even with greasy or oily hands. The jaw design has a cutout that allows for a firm grip on round objects or even stripped nuts. The tongue and groove precision is excellent. The tool can be effortlessly adjusted from smallest to largest with just one hand.
