This is the tool you never thought you would need until you do. This stainless steel plier has a locking function, great when you need to hold something small really steady when you are working. The 45 degree tip is serrated also helps in gripping items. The locking function has 4 positions. I did find it a really tight when I was trying to open it, but when I finally did, it held tight when used. It has an extra joint that adding 25% more reaching ability. Great addition to my tool box.

The hubby is always trying to work on small, delicate jobs where he needs to be able to get a good solid grip on small pieces of hardware and it’s usually a nightmare for him. These hemostat pliers have a nice, long reach and fine points that grab small items very well. These may be long and skinny, but they are still super sturdy and you can get a nice firm grip on small pieces.

I use hemostats frequently for everything from holding low voltage wiring while soldering to retrieving lost items from small places to removing hooks from fish mouths. (I keep a pair on a lanyard clipped to my fishing vest.) The 45-degree angle of these makes most of those jobs easier, particularly the soldering. These hemostats are well constructed with double-X interleaf joints that allow for slightly greater access with less hand motion and a greater reach in restricted areas. The lock is secure yet easy to release. While these are not chrome like my other sets, the mat finish on the stainless steel is still attractive and doesn’t show all the fingerprints that my other show.

I got a beautiful necklace for Christmas. It was sealed in plastic, but it was also broken. One of the chain links was open. I fought with it with just my needle nose pliers and needed more hands than the two I have. These hemostat pliers made up for the extra hands I didn’t have.I got one of the sides of the stretched link in the hemostat with it facing up and with the needle nose put the 2 end loops over the other side and with one of my arms holding the hemostat down used the needle nose pliers to close the stretched link. Easy and simple fix.

If you don’t have a set of hemostat pliers, you are missing out. Having the locking mechanism is great for keeping tubes closed or holding wires in place while you solder. These have an extra pivot point for getting at hard to reach areas. This is a nice feature, but it does make using the pliers a little harder to use.I received these GEARWRENCH DOUBLE-X 45 HEMOSTAT PLIERS for free to write this review.

The GearWrench Double-X hemostat (Model 82035, Made in China) is a good tool. The “double X” configuration leverages opening action: at 10” inches long it easily opens to over 2” wide a the tip with medium hands spread. The serrated tip curves upward about 1/2” at 45 degrees and fits tightly when locked closed, with gaps in a very small part of the ~1.5” long jaws. The fit is tight enough to grip (and pull) a human hair. Even when not locked the very tip of the jaws close. The action itself is very stiff. Old did not help but I’m hoping it loosens up over time. The brushed satin finish looks great and prevents any glare when used under bright light. The price is very competitive for such a quality tool.

What a surprise!I was looking for a long reach hemostat and most others are usually a millimeter too short when I go to use them. And if they were just long, the sheer length would sometimes be an obstruction preventing the jaws to open wide enough for the task at hand! This hemostat gets around the issue by using a “double-hinge” affair that overcomes that problem. They are also very “precise” in their operation with no “wiggle” and a curved tip which seems to work best in most situations.A great tool to have for those delicate and difficult jobs!

Excellent quality, precision, and easy-open packaging make these perfect for getting the job done quickly and correctly. These hemostat pliers are the solution when space is tight and something must be grabbed and relocated. While renewing materials in decorative bottles of herbs and veggies in vinegar, the bottleneck problem was solved by this tool. These hemostat pliers made quick work of the removal process, which was very problematic without them.

I wasn’t familiar with the GearWrench brand until just recently. I found this tool along with the others I’ve bought to be top quality. I use my hemostat pliers for holding wire that I am soldering. I have a couple of devices for helping me solder, but I found this tool helps me in certain scenarios holding down wire. I included a video link below, which demonstrates the compound hinge. I’m not sure if this adds to the gripping strength of the pliers.
