I have never owned hose pliers until now, but wished I had them. The 3 piece set handles the majority of hoses I work with. The long handles let me get into places I can’t reach normally. I used them on gas lines, water hoses, but also cable/electric lines and plugs. I used a pair to remove spark plug wires. They will hold anything round and the ridged grip doesn’t let it move. These are a great addition to your tool box

These are excellent for tight areas in a foreign car engine bay. Quality is good, some slop in hinges, but not detrimental to use. I compared these to the single hinge pliers sold elsewhere (aka Cheap tool store) and the jaw finish is better aligned on the Gearwrench pliers.

If you’re in the market for hose pliers then this is the best set offered in my opinion. The selling point for me was the cantilever design that gives you maximum jaw spread with minimal handle movement. Other top brands that I compared used simple single hinge pivot points that limit the jaw spread without overextending the handles that doesn’t always work in tight spaces. So far I haven’t had any trouble operating them one handed. At first I thought they seemed a bit stiff but after using them I started to like a little resistance against the handles. For me it makes them easier to control in tight spaces. The overall finish is typical GearWrench quality. The tips line up perfect and are symmetrical without any unsightly grind marks. The double dipped vinyl handles are typical to what you see offered these days and should last the life of the tools. I have mostly top end tools in my roll-away and these fit right in.

They’re GearWrench – what more would need to be said really? They are ergonomic type designed handles but these are actually comfortable and easy to grip and hold while pulling hoses. Three sizes will fit most hoses that you will run into even the ones that I have run into with a tighter grip these pliers do the job. They will pay for themselves the first time you run into a hard to get at hose! I even use them to pull spark plug wires. They will save your knuckles no doubt. Pretty decent grips on the handles and above average fit & finish as usual for Gear Wrench tools.

The Gearwrench hose pliers are great. The double x design of the pliers lets you reach deep into whete ever you are working and operates with minimum room with the double bending hinge design. It needs very little room to fully open and reach the hose in very tight deep spaces. They are very well made and comes with a plastic tray to help organize your tool box.

GearWrench Double X Hose Pliers Set (3-Piece)A great 3 piece set of hose pliers from GearWrench. This is a very handy set to have in your automotive tools arsenal. If you work on cars and have never used hose clamping pliers before you may not realize it, but you need these. These give you a firm grip with their rubber coated handles and they are easy to hold on to even with greasy hands. The “Double X” design allows you to expand the jaws wider in a cramped engine compartment than the plier handles and the aligned and serrated jaw faces help you get a good grip on the hoses you are pulling off, putting on or when trying to get a grip on a hose clamp to remove or install. The end tips of the jaws are ground and pinch together at the ends well enough to allow me to retrieve fallen items, such as a dropped bolt, spark plug, clamp, nuts etc. I can even retrieve a small gasket or something as thin as a piece of paper with these. Finish is a little rough, but price is good for what you get, Made in China of corrosion resistant alloy steel and comes with GearWrenches Lifetime Warranty.

Stop using the wrong tool. We’ve all fought and struggled with every kind of pliers there is, trying to get the hose clamps off. These were made to do the job with ease and they are made very well. The set includes three different sizes. The handles are very comfortable and aren’t slippery, even with greasy hands. Each tool is long enough to reach into the worst places and easily remove the clamps. The ends open wide with little movement of the handles, due to their compound joints. These should last a lifetime, but if you’re worried, they have a Lifetime Warranty. They’ll pay for themselves the first time that you use them.

The double x design of these pliers is very helpful. It provides a wider jaw opening while allowing for a tighter entry into the workspace. The jaws have a nice serration pattern applied to them that exists on both the round area gripping the hose and part way up the shaft. I found they gripped and held onto the hose very well. I did notice the two jaw sides have different radii and the tips are different sizes. The handles have a comfortable grip material applied to them. The pliers open and close easily and have a smooth movement.

If you work on cars and trucks, you need a set of these pliers. They make quick work of removing hoses in tight or open places. They can also be used on spark plug wire boots that are stuck onto the plugs. The jaws are grooved deeply enough to give you a good grip on the hose, but not so deeply that they damage it. The compound joints let you open the pliers widely without the handles taking so much room. The padding on the handles makes them quite comfortable. Withe the set of three, you should be able to deal with any hoses except radiator hoses. They also come in a covered tray that will fit into your tool box drawer. I would suggest keeping a light coating of oil on them to prevent rust.

This is a must have tool in every garage. Cars have less and less space to work on and you can’t reach to take out the coolant hose behind the bumper. This one saved me probably more than 30 min tinkering with a hose, which I could reach but taking it out would snap and cause me to bruise my hand on the metal bracket behind it.There are millions of applications but one clear application – reach where it is tight, save your knuckles and don’t damage other stuff (connections, covers, cabling, etc.) while removing what you need to take off, e.g. a hose, connector, plug, etc.It seems like an overkill to have, but it will pay off the first time you’re working on your car. I really liked the design, that it is 30 degrees slanted, so that you can use it also as a little lever when you’re prying out your connection. Perfect little set of tools, very well manufactured and designed, rust-proof and perfectly sized!

I have used a bunch of different methods to remove hoses from their fittings. A lot of these methods destroy the hose. This new set of hose pliers is wonderful for pulling the small hoses that are used for fuel and heater hoses. Not only do these pliers not harm the hose but they are able to reach very difficult areas due to their unique double X design. They have a long reach and can access areas that are too tight to allow you to reach them with your hand. These pliers can even be used to install a hose in a hard to reach location.
