GearWrench Dual Material Wide Scraper Set (4 Piece) are well-made general utility scrapers. The set includes the following size widths: 1/4-inch, 1/2-inch, and 1-inch with both a long and short shaft. These are general use tools for all applications and especially handy for automotive work, removing old gasket material and scraping loose rust and gunk off in tight spots under the body. The long scrapers are about 12-inches ( 4 1/2-inch handle, 7 1/2-inch shaft) that can be a problem in working in tight spaces on some engines which is why, I believe, they added the smaller length scraper. It is about 8-inches long ( 4 1/2-inch handle, 3 1/4-inch shaft) with a one inch wide end. I would like to have seen a second small tool with the 1/4-inch end. I like these narrow scraper heads because many others I found are bigger. The narrow heads are ideal for removing built-up carbon and gasket material and easier to use. The tool’s handles are comfortable and solidly attached to the shafts. I can’t see them separating while working. They let you put plenty of force behind the task when needed. The tool is made to last and the ends can be reground if they dull. I’d say they were designed to take plenty of abuse, used for doing tough work. These tools are for general use around the shop. GearWrench is noted for their quality products.

This set of 4-piece Scraper Set comes with 1/4 in. wide 8 in long, 1/2 in. wide 8 in long, 1 in. wide and 8” long, and 1 in. wide 3-3/4 in long. These are great for removing gaskets, rust, paint, carbon buildup, floor tile and many more things you can think of. I already have one and I saw this set that had different width blades and one that had a short shaft, I had to get it. A nice feature is the handles they are oil and solvent resistant. It is finished with black oxide to prevent it from ever rusting. It a must tool have in tool arsenal.

The set is packaged in an injection-molded plastic case. I can be used as a permanent case, even though it was probably designed primarily for retail display purposes. However, that also means that if you have a pegboard-hook wall (like most guys), you can hang these on your wall of fame as do I. The handles have decent grip, but that should improve with time and wear and tear. The nice thing is that the handles are hard enough to use with a mallet or even a hammer, obviously aiding in the range of force that can be applied.

This set of GearWrench scrappers is designed for general use. The set features a long handle 1 inch, 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch scrapper and a short handle 1 inch scrapper. The shaft is coated with black oxide to prevent rust. The handles are made of a dual material. The black surface has a slight grip to it and the red is smoother. I found the handles comfortable to hold. I tried scrapping some old paint drips from concrete with them. They worked on blobs of paint that had an edge the scrapper could engage. However, paint that had a very slim edge would not come off the concrete with the scrapper.

Set of Four Scrappers by Gearwrench. Tip widths are 1/4″, 1/2″ and 2 are 1″. The 1″ widths come in two handle lengths. For rough scrapping I use the short handle 1″ width scrapper. For fine work I use the long handle 1/4″ blade. This 1/4″ size gives me more tip control and the long handle allows me to use both hands. Comfortable rubberized handles have a flat surface on the end for striking. The black oxide coating on the shafts should give you good corrosion protection. The set comes with a nice plastic tray for storage in your tool chest. I use these mostly for removing rust or excess wood putty before sanding.

The Gearwrench scraper set works very well. The edges stay sharp and true. The handles are made so they fit comfortably in your hand. The 4 sizes are perfect for scraping large surfaces (1 inch wide or larger) to the small surfaces (1/4 inch wide). The handles are oil and solvent resistant. The scrappers can be used on a variety of materials from gaskets to rust to paint. Very nice.

I just received the GearWrench Dual Material Wide Scraper 4 – Piece set and like these already. The grips are a good size and are not soft and spongy so they should hold up well and the steel has a heavy feel and works well without much flex so I can work them quite hard and no bending. So far the sharp scraping edge has held up to everything I have used it for without needing re sharpened.

Grippy handles make these scrapers easy to hold, but they are not too soft where they will absorb a lot of oil or grease. They have a nice edge ground on them and very sturdy, quite a step up from grabbing an old putty knife to get that gasket off.About the only minor complaint I have is a missing cap on the handle for giving them a tap with a hammer, but that would just make them into chisels.

I’ve had to buy a lot of scrappers over the years. They get lost or borrowed. Over time they dull and have to be sharpened. And sometimes they just walk away.I was an auto mechanic more than thirty years and owned a lot of tools. Scrapers are a must have tool particularly in auto repair. But I’m retired these days yet still do a lot of auto repair as well as other work that requires good scrapers. And since I lost many of my tools in a fire, it was time to get a good set.Gear Wrench Tools has been around quite a while now and proven to be a top quality brand of tools. These scrapers are very sharp and hold their edge as good as any brand. And the ergonomic handles are very comfortable in your hand. This 4 piece set has a standard long handle 1 inch scraper, a 1/2 wide long handle and a narrow 1/4 inch wide long handle as well as a short handle 1 inch wide. You can pay a lot more for great scrapers but you won’t find a better scraper. And they have the same warranty.
