Bolt Biter is the revolutionary new extraction socket system from GearWrench. We talked with auto mechanics and industrial techs to learn what they hated about existing extraction sockets. Bolt Biter redefines extraction and solves all of their frustrations. Bolt Biter grips rusted or rounded fasteners instead of cutting into them, which means that these sockets last 10 times longer than the competition when used with an impact gun. That’s why they carry a lifetime warranty, we built Bolt Biter to match the strength of our traditional impact sockets. Bolt Biter has a bi-directional design that can tighten or re-use a damaged fastener just as well as it can remove it, making it perfect for specialized components. But durability and re-use are just the start. This improved design also seats easily onto the fastener, so you don’t have to swing a mallet under the hood. Fasteners don’t get jammed in the socket – unlike old-school extraction sockets. Bolt Biter even fits a wider range of fasteners, with “minus-size” sockets designed to fit onto fasteners worn down past their original size. Forge Ahead with Bolt Biter, the innovative leader in extraction.

got to a point in doing many projects that I needed a bolt Extractor kit. I’ve started working on a 1967 Olds 425 that I plan on swapping into my Olds. My Olds has long tube headers so there’s no need for factory exhaust manifolds. I got 8 of the 10 bolts out no problem. The last two, would not budge. These bolts probably haven’t been removed since put in at the factory back in 1967 (52 years ago) I hit the bolts with WD-40 but I don’t think any got in because of the downward angle. It took less than 5 minutes to get both stubborn bolts out, combined. They were bolt 9/16 head bolts, need the 14mm for one and the 13mm/ 1/2 inch for the other, yeah pretty rounded. The bolt holes on the head are clean, bolts didn’t break or snap. They are out and now onto the next step in my project!Get these. You will not be disappointed

Very good product better then a lot of the extractors on the market today. Quickly remove some very corroded and rusted fasteners.

Had a Torx 25 bolt that was stripped and in a very tight spot. Once I was able to get the bolt biter to slip on, it worked flawlessly

1/4 in. and 3/8 in. Drive Bolt Biter Impact Extraction Socket Set.My Mother and Father had this old glider swing, just outside of the back door. The slats have long since rotten out. All of the bolts had rusted out. These Bolt Biter sockets allowed me to remove the bolts!! I was albe to to refinish the glider, new slats, bolts, nuts and painting the frame in a total of 5 hours. These sockets also work great to drive the new bolts. These sockets stay in my general tool box, for every day. I use these almost every day, makes my job much easier!

These 1/4 IN. AND 3/8 IN. BOLT BITER IMPAC EXTRACTION SOCKET SET is an 8-piece set. Depending on which socket you use, it takes either a 3/8 or 1/4 in. Inpatient or regular socket wrench. It works great on either regular headed bolts or /bolts that are stripped out. The set comes on a mountable bracket, so you an put it where you want it. Great product.

This socket set from GearWrench are so amazing. They do an excellent job of grabbing a rounded over bolt allow you to loosen it or if needed tighten it back up. The set comes with 8 sockets all that have the bolt biter to allow you to tighten or loosen ranging in a wide range of size and each socket is designed to work with both SAE and metric fasteners. Additionally, the sockets are impact rated so you can use them with your impact wrench and not worry that you will break them. Just over all a great set that you may not always come into a situation where you will need them but when you do you will be super grateful that you went with this set from GearWrench. I would definitely recommend picking up a set and know that you have piece of mind because of the lifetime warranty offered by GearWrench.

I have always been pleased with any Gearwrench tool I have used and this is no exception. This extraction socket set would be a valuable addition to any mechanic or handyman’s tool box. Not only do they work terrific as advertised at removing damaged bolts but they serve a much more valuable purpose when in the hands of someone who is performing restoration work to anything that is enhanced by keeping period hardware as opposed to replacing it with something contemporary. I am currently working on restoring a 1800’s treadle powered lathe which has square headed bolts. It can be a challenge to remove/install square headed bolts because they are more prone to accidental damage when using a typical socket or wrench especially under high torque situations. These Gearwrench Bolt Biter Sockets work GREAT and have minimized that risk! They are impact tool tough, designed to be used with both ratchet or wrench and I just cannot offer enough praise for this tool set. I highly recommend them!

the Bolt Biter socket set is both a american standard & metric Impact set . The sockets are marked to be easy to read. the set has ( 2 ) 1/4 drive sockets a 7 mm and 8 mm -5/16 there ( 6 ) 3/8th drive sockets starting from a 10 mm to 16mm -5/8 in assortment . there all keep on a ball bearing locking slide rack. the unit can be wall mounted or keep in your toolbox to keep these sockets organized. each of the sockets are design to accept a box end wrench on there collar .for those hard to places . there design mostly for removing damaged bolts were the head of the bolt/fastener is messed up . but can be used to install bolts the set is made in china but are very high quality .

Gear Wrench 84782 Bolt Biter Extraction Socket Set – This is the product number for the (8) piece set, Gear Wrench also manufactures (2) larger Bolt Biter Extraction Socket Sets, a (15) piece and a (28) piece, all of the sockets are regular depth, currently deep sockets are not available…These sockets are very well engineered and designed as well as well manufactured using Chrome Molybdenum steel with highly visible laser etched sizes and a black oxide coating preventing corrosion…These sockets have several excellent features, they will remove and tighten damaged fasteners, the sockets are tapered providing a very secure grab of the damaged fastener, the sockets are dual sized for metric and SAE fasteners, the sockets are dual drive, internal square drive and external hex drive allowing the sockets to be driven with an impact wrench, ratchet or wrench, The sockets are available in minus sizes providing a stronger grab on extremely damaged fasteners…Gear Wrench indicates these newly designed sockets last 10 times longer than other sockets and have 5 times greater torque than other sockets…The (15) piece and (28) piece socket sets include a blow molded case…All sockets are covered by a lifetime warranty…The (2) sockets I tested performed as indicated, intended and expected without any problems and were easier to use than other extraction sockets that had to be driven onto the fastener with a hammer…

Sometimes you cant fit a pair of locking pliers or some other more extreme methods I have used over the years to get rusted out nuts and bolts off in the space available. Since I work at the beach everything rusts and replacement of hardware is a regular process. Occasionally something gets skipped in the rotation and it no longer looks like a nut or bolt when we find it. I went searching to give these a test and found a nut in a cramped place with moderate corrosion. I picked the size extractor that matched the nut size before rusting and put it on a ratchet. It bit right in and came off without a fuss. I was curious if I could then put it back on and had no issues, just like with a standard socket on a new nut. These will get a spot in my maintenance bag in my truck for the inevitable rusty fastener.

I have several other items from gearwrench and they’re pretty solid and won’ fail the typical homeowner or DIY mechanic. These items are no exception. I’ve used other sets before that only last a couple of times and wear out. The finish on the bits themselves is pretty good and should hold up in a garage climate unless you have extreme temperatures. Its a great set at a great price.
