I really needed a good socket set to use with my cordless tools. I had many heavy duty sets for cars and trucks but besides maintenance on my car I do very little mechanic type jobs. Most of my projects are are DIY jobs around the house.The Sunex 1848 1/4 in. GearWrench 1-4 in. Drive SAE-Metric Impact Socket Set (48-Piece) – a Home Depot Seeds Program ReviewI have lots of sockets for my ratchets. I have multiple sets of 3/8” drive sockets in SAE and Metric. I have quite a few for 1/2” ratchets. For some reason, though, I have a very limited number of 1/4” drive sockets. This GearWrench set solves that problem!This 48 piece, 6 point set contains a full complement of standard and deep SAE sockets from 3/16” to 9/16”. It also contains a full set of standard and deep Metric sockets from 4mm to 15mm. All of the sockets come in a rigid molded plastic carrying case with metal latches which holds off of the sockets securely. This set should satisfy all of my 1/4” drive needs.The socket are all made from Chrome Molybdenum (Cr-Mo) Alloy Steel with a Manganese Phosphate Coating for corrosion resistance. I’ve used other Cr-MO products and have found them to be very durable and unlikely to strip or wear. The “impact” designation implies, at least to me, that they could be used with an impact wrench but I couldn’t find any details on that. The coating doesn’t seem to should any signs of wear. I even tried intentionally scratching the sockets and the coating held up. They’re all marked with a very high visibility laser etching. My experience with laser etching is that it can be worn off with use. I haven’t had that happen with these but, just in case, they’re hard stamped with the sizes as well. The precision of the sockets seems good and I felt no play on the bolt heads and nuts I worked with. I didn’t measure them but the GearWrench site says they meet or exceed ASME B107.2/B107.33M that deals with the size precision. The site also says they have an “Off-Corner Loading Design” that is supposed to reduce rounding of the fastener you’re working with. I had no problem with any rounding but I really wasn’t working with any difficult bolts. The sockets say they’re made in Taiwan and the box says there’s a lifetime warranty but I couldn’t find the details on that.The only thing I would have liked is room in the molded plastic carrier to put a ratchet in it. I know there are similar sets from GearWrench that include the 1/4” ratchets as well but, since I already have those, I opted not to get one of them. Just a little extra room in the carrier would be nice.This is a pretty nice set of 1/4” drive sockets at a good price. It includes most, if not all, sizes you would need in standard and deep sockets in both SAE and metric sizes. The coating seems to holds up and the laser etching of the sizes is backed up by hard stamped sizes as well. I would have liked to have a little space in the carrying case to put a 1/4” ratchet in but this set wasn’t made for that. I don’t think you would be disappointed purchasing this set.

I had my eye on this set, and when it came up for sale at a great price, I finally bought it. It’s typical made-in-Taiwan high quality, and doesn’t skip any sizes. It’s very handy for motorcycle maintenance (no more beating up my small chrome sockets with impact duty)!

I wanted an impact socket set and have heard a lot of great things from professional mechanics about GearWrench, so I chose this set and am very impressed so far. I already have 1/4″ impact divers and wrenches available, as well as ratchets, and 1/4″ is great for around the house and doing small stuff in automotive. This set includes standard and deep SAE from 3/16 to 9/16 and metric standard and deep from 4mm to 15mm including 4.5 and 5.5mm. I’m not exactly sure what mechanics consider a “full set” but this is at least a decent start. I like the build quality and design. High quality Chrome Molybdenum steel with edges designed to reduce rounding, high visibility marking and a decent carrying case. I’ll definitely look to GearWrench for my additional automotive tools in the future.

This is a nice little(1/4in drive) impact socket set. It is made by Gearwrench and has a lifetime warranty. It is a 48 piece SAE/Metric set. It has 14 Metric deep, 14 Metric shallow, 10 SAE deep and 10 SAE shallow sockets. Sizes range from 4 thru 15 mm and 3/16 thru 9/16. They use Surface Drive technology so less chance of rounding off the edges of fasteners. The sockets are easily identified with laser etching.

Excellent quality. Socket fit very snug to fasteners, exact fit and finish quality of my Matco and Cornwell sockets. Sockets are tripple marked: stamped twice and laser etched once. Case is durable, yet relatively slim for the amount of sockets contained. This is a great set to go along with your 1/4″ impact driver and ratchet adapter. I probably use this set more than all my other impact ratchet sets as I work mostly on small engines and household repairs. Made in taiwan.

Have used this set for a couple weeks now and am super impressed. I am by no means a mechanic but this socket set is the highest quality I own and would be ideal for the average person. It has worked great for everything I have used it for. I assembled some furniture and hooking this up to my impact saved me so much time. I liked the standard and deep sockets to change out for different situations and they were quick and easy to change out. I also changed the tie rods on my truck. There were a couple rusted bolts on there that required some serious torque. The impact gun wasn’t enough power to break them loose so i hooked up a cheater bar and really cranked on it and these held up to the test. My only personal complaint is that the biggest size was 15mm and I needed a couple sizes bigger for the tie rods on a couple bolts, but then again this is a 48 piece kit and if that is what you need then these sockets work great.

This 48 piece 1/4″ socket set will be a good addition to my tool chest, featuring both SAE & Metric sockets in a wide variety of sizes, both standard socket depth as well as deep-well socket depth. I used this set for assembly of a shelving unit for my garage and the sockets fit properly and securely. I did find that the flat black finish on the sockets scratches and mars easily, but that shouldn’t affect their functional ability. The product box indicates they are “impact” sockets, I assume meaning they could be successfully used with an impact wrench, but I have only used them with a hand socket wrench.

This is a complete set of impact sockets for your ¼” tools. The sockets go all the way down to 3/16” and 4mm and up to 9/16” and 15mm, in both standard and deep. I’ve been using a ¼” impact for years and ¼” impacts drives are getting more popular every day. These are handy for many areas on the car, truck or motorcycle. These have what’s called Surface Drive Technology, where more of the flat of the fastener makes contact with more of the socket, reducing the chance of rounding the fastener. Each socket is clearly marked with its size. All comes in a very nice hard plastic case. These have a lifetime warranty too.

This ¼ inch drive set is outstanding. I had a ¼ inch adapter already for my impact drill. I have used it to sink in some 6-inch bolts it works amazing. My wife is starting to do some wood working projects so I’m excited to use these more. I might be ambitious and build a pergola. I think this set would be great to use. The carrying case is built very tough and thick. I especially like the latches. So far, no spillage.

Super socket set! For all those fasteners too small for 3/8″ drive, this 1/4″ drive set excels. It comes in a molded plastic case, with metal latches that should last a lifetime. 48 pieces total consisting of 20 pieces of SAE sizes (10 normal, 10 deep) and 28 pieces metric (14 normal, 14 deep) covers all sizes you might encounter. 6 point sockets are impact rated which is perfect in this day and age. The sockets boast “Surface Drive” technology, which is a geometry that drives the fastener on the flanks, rather that on the points, which might have a tendency to round off. Bright markings make identification and selection easy. Lifetime warranty! Nice set!
