The Gear Wrench 1/2 inch drive 6 point metric standard impact socket set arrived in a well padded envelope. All pieces were enclosed in its own plastic case with a good clasp to prevent coming loose. I selected it because of the name GearWrench and the 1/2 inch drive. I like the 6 point configuration on the sockets for repeated use and exact fit. The specific feature is that they can be used for regular or impact nut/bolt fastening. I will use them when they’re needed. The quality is very durable. Easy to use. They will work out as expected, I like them.

GearWrench is on the verge of being great, but still struggles with Quality control. I was very excited to receive these very beefy impact sockets. The case is a nice blow molded plastic that fits the sockets perfectly, the hasp is metal for durability and they did a great job identifying the socket sizes in the case with embossed letters, all good so far. I took out the first socket and immediately got a significant metal splinter jambed in my finger, how do you get a metal splinter from a socket? Next I found that if you mount the socket with the detent ball hole aligned with the ball on the ratchet you get good retention, but if you miss the hole then the sockets come off easier than I would prefer. Upon inspecting the sockets I noticed that they did a good job aligning the printed numbers with the detent hole so if you mount them on a rail you can see all the size identifiers, however, the placement of the printing is all over the place up and down on the sockets. They did a nice job stamping the socket size in large deep numbers on the back side, I appreciated that. The sockets fit well on the nuts and bolts I tried as well. Overall a good product for the money.

If you’re looking for an inexpensive but durable 1/2 inch metric set to use, then I recommend investing in this set. It’s great to be able to lay the case flat, and see the etched sizes on the sockets while working on your projects, and with the nice variety of sizes from 8mm-19mm, all sizes in between, eliminates frequent trips to the toolbox. The Surface Drive Technology is a plus with a sure grip of not stripping your bolts/nuts, but also saves on the knuckles. I did use these with an impact also, but photo failed to load. Great addition to any toolbox.

If you need a great set of metric impact sockets (shallow) and come in a great case, look no further. You won’t find a better set for less money. Sizes 8mm through 19mm.I was an auto mechanic over 30 years and 8 more repairing heavy equipment before retiring. During that time I bought some of the most expensive tools available. But in those days there were huge differences in quality. But that difference has dwindled in recent years and paying high prices for quality tools is no longer necessary. So why am I buying impact sockets now after all those years and being retired? First, I still repair all my own vehicles and equipment as well as making a little extra cash working on friends and family vehicles. But also, my storage facility burned to the ground a few years ago. Many of my tools were still being stored there and were lost. So whenever I’m ready to replace something and I find a quality product at a great price, I buy it. Also, Gear Wrench, once a name that only made a couple innovative products has come out with an impressive line of mechanics tools. Don’t sell yourself short by overlooking Gear Wrench tools. They’ll do what you need them too and like most tools, carry a lifetime warranty.

For those of you concerned about the country of origin, this set was manufactured in China. The impact sockets are standard sizes, and fit car lug nuts, which is the purpose I purchased these.Very strong case with a snap latch so will not open easily. Oxide coating looks like it will resist rust and dirt.Carry these in my car truck with extensions, as there are none in the kit.Can also be used with a rod to open nuts.

Excellent set of impact sockets. Thick and durable material. The weight says it all. These sockets are heavy but should be since they are impact sockets. Good feel to them. Love the case. Durable with a metal latch. Kit comes with all the standard metric sockets from 8-19. Be nice if the kit went up to 22 or 24 which gear wrench probably offers. Over all I love it and would definitely recommend it.

Good metric impact kit for the price – these are solidly built and feel sturdy. They are six point sockets and the range of sizes is everything I need. I like that they come in a case that latches – this allows me to toss it in one of my bags or in my truckbox without worrying about the sockets going everywhere. This socket set should last me a long time!

Twelve piece impact socket set by Gearwrench. This is a 1/2″ 6 point metric impact socket set in a high impact plastic storage case. These are my new go-to sockets because of their ease of handling, and high visibility in the case. Each socket is marked or etched for easy identification. They are made from hardened steel and coated in black oxide to protect from rust or corrosion. They are designed as surface drives to prevent rounding of nuts and bolts. Lifetime warranty.

This Gear Wrench 1/2 in. Drive 6-Point Metric Standard Impact Socket Set (12-Piece) is a useful set to keep in the car or in a handy place in the garage. I like to try to do things myself before calling in the help of a mechanic and this set provides most of the sizes needed for intermediate auto repairs. The set comes with 6-point metric sockets. The Parallel neck down design on 8 mm, 9 mm, 10 mm, 11 mm, 12 mm, 13 mm and 14 mm sizes for improved access to restricted and tight areas. I would like to point out that this set includes a socket case to carry the sockets while they are not in use. what i do like about this set is that they are made from Chrome alloy steel for exceptional strength and durability. Manufacturer’s limited lifetime warranty.

Another nice socket set from the GearWrench brand. The case is standard for a socket set this size. It is compact and no carrying handle. It has a metal catch for sealing the case. The most important aspect to any case in my opinion is that the hinges have metal pins. Experience with cases that have plastic hinges have always resulted in the hinges breaking and the case is pretty much worthless. This case should hold up well over the life of the tools. Where some cases are weak in their centers, this case is very solid and doesn’t compress, at least easily, holding the sockets in their slots. The case can be opened knowing the sockets will have remained in their respective slots. They do not lock in their slots and turn easily making it easy to search for the preferred size. Each socket is clearly marked with large numbers for the sizes. The packaging indicates the labels are laser etched. The lettering is gold against the black socket making it easily read. The packaging also indicates they are corrosion resistant. The sockets attach easily to air or standard socket wrench. The sizes range from 8 to 19 metric. It is a nice little set and not too expensive.
