Love love love this set. I have been looking for a nice impact set for a while and this is it. It came in a really strong nice case which is what I really wanted. They whole thing can stay together and not fall all over the place. The latches are really strong feeling and once you open it up they look great. Its really a nice set and well built and i assume it will last for ever. Cant say enough about it.

Strong, coated against corrosion, clearly marked sizes, and off-corner loading to reduce fastener rounding make this deep socket impact set a winner. The have the off-corner loading on the ½” drive end as well. Awesome. The case is great—each socket has it’s own location that is labeled in the plastic, and the sockets don’t bounce out in transport. This can ride in the front or back of the truck and the sockets will be where they’re supposed to be when it’s time to work. And since each spot is labeled, it’s easy to track down a missing socket at the end of the day—where was I working with 7/8” nuts? Bam, found it. Deep sockets and as thin a wall as possible while still maintaining strength for easy maneuverability, tapered face to help guide the nut or bolt into the socket, and a lifetime warranty. It can’t be beat, and they work exactly as you’d expect a nice socket to work. Perfect.

If you have a ½” impact or plan on getting one, this is one of the most complete, well made sets out there. The sockets are made of Cr-Mo steel and that means they’re longer lasting than some. They are six point and have what they call “Off-corner Loading” which reduces the chance of rounding the corners off of the fasteners. The entry angle design helps to guide the fastener into the socket, making it easier to engage the two. The set includes all of the popular sizes and then some. Each socket is clearly marked with the size. The set comes with a very well made, tough blow molded case that has four latch points, keeping it securely closed. They are manganese phosphate coated for corrosion resistance. These are “deep” sockets, which seems what I’ve always needed more than the regular or shallow type. The fit on the impact is secure and the sockets fit the fasteners perfectly. If you want one set that will do it all, this is it. I’m really impressed with the selection and quality.

GearWrench makes some pretty good hand tools and this 27 piece SAE/Metric deep well, 1/2″ impact socket set is no exception. The set is contained in a nice plastic case. Each socket has it’s own little nest that’s marked with a socket size molded into the plastic. There are 14 metric and 13 SAE sockets. Each is finished in a durable, corrosion resistant, black oxide coating. The edges are smooth and I didn’t notice any burrs or flaws in any of the sockets. All sockets are laser etched and stamped with the size and the markings are large and easy to read. These sockets fit perfectly on my 1/2″ cordless impact driver. They don’t come loose and there is no sloppiness in the fit. I checked several for fit on to some random bolts in my shop. Those I checked fit perfectly with no play on the bolt heads or nuts.

The GearWrench 27 Piece Impact Sockets Set is a complete set of quality impact sockets in both SAE and metric sizes. They are six-point deep sockets that range from 10 through 27 mm, and from 7/16 through 1 1/4”. They are made of Chrome Molybdenum alloy steel with a black oxide coating, and are covered with a lifetime warranty. The sizes are laser etched on each socket to enable easy identification, which is extremely useful to me. They come in a heavy duty plastic box to help organize and transport. The inside of the sockets are cut with what is called Surface Drive Technology, which is basically designed to reduce if not eliminate rounding of the edges of the bolts and nuts. In my use so far it appears to work well. Also the smaller sockets are necked down to allow easier access in tight spaces. I am extremely pleased with this set of sockets. They appear well built and quality tools. I would definitely recommend this socket set.

What can you say about an impact socket set? Well in this case, the Gear Wrench 1/2 inch drive SAE/Metric Deep Impact Socket set stands “heads above” similar products. It is well organized into a heavy duty blow-molded plastic carry case that has metal opening/closing clasps and metal hinge pins and includes sizes from SAE 7/16 inch to 1 1/4 inch and Metric 10mm to 27mm. All are 6 point design because you don’t ever want to use a 12 point socket with an impact driver. It would quickly round off the fastener’s corners. One thing that I really like about this set is that the sockets are finished in semi-gloss black finish with laser-etched high-visibility markings. They are a lot easier to clean than the typical flat-black phosphate finish of most competing brands. These sockets also feature the “off-corner loading” that reduces the possibility of rounding off your nuts and bolts when working with tight fasteners. As a bonus I found that the 27mm socket fits my Kia Sorrento’s oil filter housing. Overall, this is an excellent set that could last several lifetimes. It comes with a lifetime warranty!

GearWrench 1/2 in. Drive SAE/Metric Deep Impact Socket Set (27-Piece) – a Home Depot Seeds Program ReviewI have lots of sockets for my ratchets but I really wanted a half inch drive set to use with my impact wrench and this GearWrench set solves that problem. This 27 piece, 6 point set contains a good selection of deep SAE sockets from 7/16” to 1 1/4”. It also contains a good set of deep Metric sockets from 10mm to 27mm. All of the sockets come in a rigid molded plastic carrying case with metal latches in the front and plastic latches on the sides which hold all of the sockets securely. Since the sets weighs about 20 pounds, the second set of latches on the side of the case provide pretty good assurance that the ratchets aren’t going to fall out. This set should satisfy all of my 1/2” drive needs for my impact driver. The socket are all made from Chrome Molybdenum (Cr-Mo) Alloy Steel with a Manganese Phosphate Coating for corrosion resistance. I’ve used other Cr-MO products and have found them to be very durable and unlikely to strip or wear. These sockets, as the name implies, are impact ready and fit my impact wrench that has a square anvil with a ring. The sockets also have a hole in them to fit a square anvil with a pin like a ratchet wrench. The coating doesn’t seem to should any signs of wear after some use. I even tried intentionally scratching the sockets and the coating held up. They’re all marked with a very high visibility laser etching. My experience with laser etching is that it can be worn off with use. I haven’t had that happen with these but, just in case, they’re hard stamped with the sizes as well. The precision of the sockets seems good and I felt no play on the bolt heads and nuts I worked with. I didn’t measure them but the GearWrench site says they meet or exceed ASME B107.2/B107.33M that deals with the size precision. The site also says they have an “Off-Corner Loading Design” that is supposed to reduce rounding of the fastener you’re working with. I had no problem with any rounding but I really wasn’t working with any difficult bolts. The sockets say they’re made in Taiwan and the box says there’s a lifetime warranty but I couldn’t find the details on that. This is a very nice set of 1/2” drive impact sockets at a good price. It includes most, if not all, sizes you would need in deep sockets in both SAE and metric sizes. The coating seems to holds up and the laser etching of the sizes is backed up by hard stamped sizes as well. I don’t think you would be disappointed purchasing this set.If you’re interested, the GearWrench product page is here:http://www.gearwrench.com/impact-products/sockets/deep/gearwrench-84949n-27-pc-1-2-drive-6-point-deep-impact-sae-metric-socket-set.html

This is an outstanding set of impact sockets, I love having SAE and metric deep well sockets in the same set. The storage box not only have the standard latches on each side of the handle but you also have snap latches on both side, making sure the box stays closed. And even though these are deep well sockets you can put a longer lag bolt in them and not have them disappear into the socket but goes deep enough that you can drive the bolts in using only one hand.

I am set for life after obtaining my GearWrench ½ inch drive SAE/Metric Deep Impact Socket Set. The sockets come in a strong, secure case with each socket location marked with an embossed size label. The set Includes: 7/16”, 1/2”, 9/16”, 5/8”, 11/16”, 3/4”, 13/16”, 7/8”, 15/16”, 1”, 1-1/16”, 1-1/8”, 1-1/4″ Deep Impact Socket sand 10mm, 11mm, 12mm, 13mm, 14mm, 15mm, 16mm, 17mm, 18mm, 19mm, 21mm, 22mm, 26mm and 27mm Deep Impact Sockets. Each individual socket size is marked in easy to read numbers on its side. The GearWrench Surface Drive technology seems to work well. The socket is designed to apply the torque to the bolt flat surface versus the corner. The sockets are made from a chrome steel alloy and heat treated for strength. I’m retired now and don’t wrench for a living, but these sockets seem to work great. At ~$3.70 a socket, the set seems like a good value too!

The GearWrench (27-PC) 1/2 IN. DRIVE SAE/METRIC DEEP IMPACT SOCKET SET…I have nothing negative to say. This socket set is of great quality and following two recent projects including some tractor maintenance that you will find in the pictures & videos, these are quite excellent! These sockets have already found their way into my roll cart. Two Thumbs Up!
