I have been using a different manufacturers torque wrench to adjust wall braces installed in my basement. I have to adjust the braces twice a year to 80 foot pounds. That torque wrench is ok but I found it very difficult to hear the “click” noise when I reached 80 foot pounds and the wrench is only 12 inches long. This Gearwrench Torque wrench solved both issue…handily. The “click” noise on the lower spectrum of adjustable torque pounds is substantial and I could also feel the click at 80 pounds. Even with some ambient noise, the click was very audible. Extremely easy to adjust but the wrench does not indicate 80 specifically, so I had to guesstimate between the 70 and 90 etchings. (see picture) High quality machining and material throughout. Twenty four inches long and a large, comfortable rubber like grip that also provides confidence in your grasp. Nice solid storage case.

Right off, this GEARWRENCH micrometer exceeded all expectations. With 3 vehicles in my driveway and one of them with dual rear wheels on aluminum rims – it was time to get away from my old school dial indication torque wrench.Un-boxing the GEARWRENCH, this torque wrench shouts quality; from the custom formed storage case to the rubberized ratchet head – this torque wrench is ready to work. There isn’t anything I would change with this torque wrench!Torque settings are easy to dial in and lock thanks to the clever spool set handle with positive lock. My former torque wrenches were easy to upset the torque setting just from the twist action on the handle. That ain’t happening on this torque wrench. And thanks to the rubberized head of the GEARWRENCH I don’t have fear of using it on my aluminum rims. And I can use drive extensions without compromise of my torque range (there is a helpful calculating tip for using the torque wrench with a handle extension). With the nearly 25 inch long handle and the 1/2 inch drive this torque wrench will get the torque job done to the 250 pound setting. My maximum torque setting is 125 FT.LBS and I was really surprised how easy it was to reach my setting.I appreciate the micrometer settings of the wrench and the stamped scale.Comes with certificate of calibration for the wrench matched to the wrench serial.

In today’s mechanical world that uses hi-tech fasteners and torque-to-yield bolts made from brass, aluminum and even plastic, I can’t afford to guess when tightening them. This rugged torque wrench has a rubber ratchet head cover, an overall length of nearly 25 inches for leverage and a rubberized grip of 3-1/2 inches for hand comfort. The desired torque setting adjustment is made by sliding back the handgrip to unlock, turning it to the desired setting on the stamped scale, then returning the grip to the starting position to lock it. Because the torque handle has a ratchet head, it eliminates the necessity of removing then repositioning the entire tool and socket for that second torque check of the bolt or nut. Although this torque wrench is intended specifically for checking wheel lug nuts, there’s no reason that it can’t be used for fasteners in other locations. Just keep in mind that there is a torque accuracy error of +/- 3% CW in the upper 80% of the wrench capability.

I gave this wrench to the mechanic who has done work on my vehicle with little of no charge because of my financial situation after my wife passed away. He is really happy with the quality. If feels strong and is made to be strong. It comes in a nice case to keep in good condition. I wanted something that was something he needed and would be a valuable asset to his shop.

This is a very good quality torque wrench. It takes half inch sockets and can be set from 30 to 250 Ft/Lbs. The top portion of the handgrip pulls down to unlock it and allow you to rotate the handle and adjust it. The measurements are etched in the side and I find them easier to read than on the other torque wrench I own.The wrench has a very positive action to it when it hits the set torque – there’s no mistaking/missing it. The head is coating in a fairly thick protective cover. Its nice that it prevents it from scratching surfaces you are working with, but it make the head larger and harder to fit into tight spots. It comes with a nice durable case.

This is a great 1/2″ torque wrench for car wheel lug nuts. The wrench is heavy duty, with a thick rubber handle and a rubber boot over the head of the wrench. The wrench has an “pull-adjustment collar” unlocking ring that must be pulled down to adjust the torque setting, which is very simple and easy to use. Twisting the handle adjusts the wrench in 2 ft/lb increments, which click into place. This is a very nice design that makes it easy and convenient to change the torque. And the wrench has relatively large scale markings that are much easier to read than the smaller inexpensive torque wrench that I own.The wrench has a nice long 2 foot handle, allowing for plenty of leverage. The range of 30-250 ft/lb easily covers the torque range for most passenger vehicles. The torque scale on the wrench is only marked in 20 ft/lb increments, but the 2 ft/lb adjustments allow you to start at, say 70, and then rotate the handle to 12 to get 82 ft / lbs.

1/2 in. 30 ft./lbs. – 250 ft./lbs. Drive Tire Shop Micrometer Torque Wrench by GearWrench / Apex Tool Group.I selected this to keep it in the vehicle in case of a tire change. Cranking down on the lug nuts is NOT a good thing to do. I received this as part of the Home Depot Seeds Program. I ordered it and it was shipped promptly and without issue. The wrench comes in a strong plastic case, which protects and keeps it clean. This should have no issues handling lug nuts or any other type of automotive need. Quality is good. Tool feels solid in the hand. Markings are clear. The wrench includes Certification and comes with a one year limited warranty.Excellent tool. Will do the job and then some.I rate this 5*s out of 5.Thank you Apex Tool Group and Home Depot for offering this.

What’s in a torque wrench? Who knows…all i care about if it is durable and accurate. This is a Gear Wrench 1/2″ 30-250 ft pounds torque wrench. It is about 25″ long and has a micrometer, locking setting handle. I checked this against 2 other 1/2″ torque wrenches of different brands and it is spot on in accuracy. It is easy to set up and also, which my other 2 lack, has a rubberized cover on the head which in addition to protecting whatever surrounding area where you are using it, it also will help in protecting the entire accuracy by absorbing most drop shocks along with the rubber handle. Nice torque wrench overall. One day though, i wish manufacturers would start putting black in the etchings of the measurement for easier reading for old eyes like mine.

The specs on the GearWrench 1/2-in. Drive Tire Shop Micrometer Torque Wrench are: 30 ft./lbs. – 250 ft./lbs. Torque rating, with a stated torque accuracy of +/- 3% CW (ClockWise) between 20% (50 ft./lbs.)and 100% (250 ft./lbs.) of wrench capability. I got the thing because my department store 1/2-in. torque wrench was limited to 150 ft./lbs. max torque, and the plastic twist handle has started to slip and rotate while in use, even though I have only used it a few times on my own vehicles. At any rate, this one appears to be solidly built, much better than my old one. It has a longer handle, making it easier to get the greater torque rating. It also has a rubber coated head for at least some impact protection, and a rubber grip that makes it easier to handle, Plus, an easier-to-use adjustment mechanism than my old one, with a pull collar that I don’t have to fight with to unlock. And the mechanism feels smoother (no binding or grinding), even though the specs say it only has a 32-tooth cogwheel. Time will tell if it lasts.

This is the first torque wrench I have owned that can handle up to 250 foot pounds. The model has a few standout features. First is the rugged protection around the head and handle. Second is the locking mechanism which does not unlock during use (unlike all of my other torque wrenches). To unlock one pulls back a collar and then twists the tool to the correct torque level and finally release the collar and it is locked again. The 24 inch length provided additional leverage for fasteners with high torque ratings. The ratcheting mechanism is 32 tooth allowing easy adjustment of position without wide swings of the handle. I used the product to tighten lug nuts on my SUV and its factory calibration was identical to my other torque wrenches. The product comes in a standard blow mold case. This is the only disappointment I experienced with the product. The cheap hinges on the case will fail after repeated openings. I wish they also included a 3 inch extension bar. Overall a great product
