These extra large ratcheting wrenches by GearWrench are probably bigger, meatier than you are used to. Before GearWrench came out with the original fine ratcheting wrenches about 20 years ago, what we had were laminated (constructed like a Master lock) wrenches that were hard on the hands if you had to use them all day. This set is a thing of beauty: finely crafted and easy to hold. These are the first GearWrenches in my tool box…probably a lot to do with price. My only comparison is with a set from Husky I have had for a couple of years. My Husky’s have served me well, because they are fine tools, also. The GearWrenches just might be heavier-duty, however, if you are using them to make a living. And, they come with a lifetime warranty.

These may be the best wrenches I have ever used. They are a bit heavy but very solid. I am using them on small engine repair, snow blower and lawnmower so mostly the smaller wrenches. Wish I had them sooner for the rotor tiller I just rebuilt this summer. The arms are long enough to have slid between the belt and wheel covers keeping me from taking it all apart and save my knuckles.I can’t imagine any spot these won’t work. I was able to tighten the drive on the snowblower with just the slightest area to work. Couldn’t get a good picture cause it was too tight and dark. The racket works with a very short pull back. This is best feature.The wrenches are in a canvas holder that actually has 3 holes at the top to hang it in the shop for easy access.Just built a rustic headboard and used a socket set to tighten multiple bolts. These wrenches would have made it easier and faster. I have 2 more requests so these will be used. Also will be easier for attaching the headboard to the frame.They comes with a lifetime warranty, but unless you’re an full time mechanic a can’t see anyway to break these.The open end is not racketed and would be great if they were. Would allow to reach areas too narrow to get the closed ratcheting end on. For tight areas the open end is the same as any open end wrench. For my projects and most engine repair the closed racket end will fit. They are expensive, but if the short ratchet throw and quality is important they’re worth it.These are becoming my new go to tool for assembling and repair.

Having to look in up to 4 toolboxes to find the correct size wrench for the job at hand. The GearWrench X-Large ratcheting combination wrench set with roll up pouch. The term X-Large may be misleading, as each wrench is really extra long. This length aids me in reaching into those hard to reach areas. Being 25% longer than standard ratcheting wrenches, this wrench set length gives me in this feature an advantage that is a benefit over standard length wrenches. In the attached photo you can see the deep pockets holding the wrenches in the rollup wrench holder. I hope this helped you.

It is very nice to have a this wide of a range of wrenches in one set. Also ratcheting box wrenches are a life saver if you’ve never had or used one do yourself a favor and get some. These are nice heavy wrenches and when I saw them online I didn’t think I’d like the carrying bag but I love it I’m working on making space for it on my peg board and it wraps up very nice and small.I do have some cons with these though hence the 4 starts. The least concerning but one that bothers me non the less is the logo on the wrenches inst consistently spaced. So if they were all laying out and you lined up the logos they don’t line up in a nice triangle. I know that’s silly but it is something to note. The other more concerning thing is the ratcheting mechanism. There’s more play in it than I would like and on the larger ones it feels weaker than I would like. I haven’t had one fail and if I do I’ll come back to let you know but I have another brand of wrenches that feel much better than this one in the larger sizes.

Sometimes you need a bit more reach or more leverage than a standard length wrench affords the user. These X Large Ratcheting Combo Wrenches by Gearwrench fit that bill perfectly. These are some really long wrenches with a bright chrome finish with a ratcheting box end and an open end on the opposite end of the tool are sure to address the task at hand easier than a standard length tool with the same size end on it.They are quality through and through, even the included tool roll is made of a heavy canvas and has a grommet in the top corners to hang them up with if desired.They feel really good in your hands with a very confident feel to them. FIT AND FINISH: The same high standards of fit and finish I have come to expect from anything GearWrench produces.FEATURES: These are the features listed on the web page with my comments.“XL Combination Ratcheting Wrench Up to 25% longer than standard combination ratcheting wrenches to access those hard to reach fasteners.” Pictures show a side-by-side comparison. Definitely longer“Surface Drive Pulse provides stronger grip on fastener; reduces fastener rounding.” This type of feature is becoming common on many box-end wrenches. It is certainly better than the old 6 or 12 point box ends.“Ratcheting Box-End needs as little as 5 deg. to move fastener vs. 30 deg. for standard box end wrenches.” More than the reduced movement is the ability to ratchet the box end vs lifting it off and repositioning it. On the down-side, the ratcheting end has thicker side walls and may not fit into some restricted side-clearance recesses.“Includes: 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 24 mm.” This is a fairly complete set of wrenches for a DIY mechanic. Gearwrench x-large combination wrench set with a very heavy roll up canvas case is quiet a wrench set. Long reach and the boxed end is very tough and will turn the nuts or bolts in very tight places. These wrenches are comparable to Snap-On quality and a life time warranty. You will never have to buy another wrench like this type again. You need these in your tool box.

The number one feature of this set in my opinion is no in-between sizes have been skipped. This is a Metric size set and includes every full size from 8 to 24 mm. The longer bodies allow for greater torque. Another great feature is the 5 degree ratcheting compared to some that are as much as 30 degree. Overall, a lot of design work has gone into these wrenches, such as the slight angles at both the box and open ends, and the more precise fit. The included wrench roll is handy have when working on machinery where multiple size bolt heads and nuts are found.
