The ratcheting open end wrench is amazing and combined with the ratcheting box end wrench makes these tools fabulous additions. The ratcheting open end has a spring loaded pin that positions the wrench but that does not carry any load when the wrench is used to tighten or loosen bolts or nuts. The photographs show the wrench as it is rotated from the end of tightening one flat back to where it is ready to tighten another flat without removing the wrench from the nut. The design allows the open end to slightly slide back to allow the high point of the nut to pass and then the flats move back to properly engage the nut. Very nice and definitely much easier and faster to use than an ordinary open end wrench. Ratcheting box end also works well. Having the ratcheting open end means that the ratcheting feature can be used in closer quarters where a box end is a bit too big to fit, or a socket wrench is too big to fit.

So far so good. Been torquing and pulling and stressing these wrenches and roughly 60 days from purchase date still holding up… only reason this was 4 star review is because we’ll see what’s in store for future, how long it holds up….

My husband is impressed with the GearWrench Open and Box End Ratcheting Wrench Set (8-Piece) due to the high quality and the ratcheting open end of the whole set. The box ends have the 12-point ratcheting gear which eliminates rounding of the fasteners. My husband says that this tool is a great addition to his tool box. He highly recommends this wrench set to anyone. This set is the SAE set and he plans to purchase the metric version.
