I’m like any other guy that works with tools, once in a while you get in a tight spot that you don’t have the right tool to do the job. My problem is usually with combination wrenches (open and box end wrench). Especially with working with vehicles, the open end tends to slip off the bolt and the box end has too much offset to get in the tight spot. GEARWRENCH solved that problem with this set of double box ratcheting set. I was skeptical at first, they are so long and thin, but a few hours working with them – I am so glad to have them! The first area to brag is the zero offset. Gosh it is great to get right to brake caliper mounting bolt without a contortion fight.Next positive is the fixed and gearwrench ends. I use the fixed end to break the torque and then flip to speed up the bolt removal.Last brag is the long thin beam between the two ends. This really helps with leverage for torque breaking. The GEARWRENCH is a welcome blessing in my toolbox. There is a great assortment here in this 13 piece set.The wrenches themselves are well constructed and are a good fit in hand, however, because of the thin beam I wear work gloves when breaking/making torque. The ratchet operation of the gear end is smooth and the fine tooth ratchet uses minimal swing of the wrench – a great feature for those really tight spots. The included case is nice – meant to just be dropped into your tool cabinet drawer and keep them organized. Now I need to get get the metric set.

This is a good quality SAE combination ratcheting wrench with the sizes you will require for most jobs.My observations:• 13 pieces are included in the set. Again, all the SAE sizes you will need.• The length of these (see my pic with tape measure) substantially improves leverage and resulting torque. Use the non-ratcheting end to break stuck fasteners, etc.• I appreciate the included case that slips right into my tool drawer. Some will like it and some will unpack the wrenches due to space restrictions.• Flip the wrench to reverse direction.• 72 teeth for movement in tight places. Only 5 degrees needed to move a fastener, which is good.• Extremely slim profile and zero degree offset. This helps with getting into tight areas.• The wrenches are all clearly marked with large font and easy to read. I took photos of both sides so you can see that as well.• Overall quality is good. I easily expect a lifetime of usage from this set based on my inspection and usage.I like this set. I can’t find any issues to point out and I’ve ran these fairly hard. I had no wobble/slipping or tooth issues on the wrench. The grip was good with or without gloves. I’m impressed and recommend.

I fell in love with this set of ratcheting wrenches, the moment I held one in my hand. Pure quality in material and machining. Twice as long as my other set. Heavy storage tray that fits nicely into one of my tool cabinet drawers. Solid ratchet action. Quality ratchet points for confidence in torquing. This tool set will be a family heirloom. Highly recommend.

If you know someone that works on machinery such as a car this is the perfect gift. It has up to 40% longer beam so The leverage is increased and that means maximum torque. It has zero degree offset and a slim profile so you can get into the tightest spaceland recessed fasteners. I don’t understand offset but the idea is there is no wasted space. The box shows someone working on a wheel bolt and able to access it. The ratcheting end needs only 5 inches to move versus 30 inches for standard box end wrenches. And the box end strength is improved. Overall what an amazing tool collection for the home enthusiast or a professional.plus the box this comes in is a totally a plastic if you want to use it as storage. Very nice

Extra leverage without having to stick a pipe on the end. I’ve bent smaller wrenches when I “enhance” the length this way so it’s nice to have longer wrenches. In the picture below, I show a standard 9/16″ box wrench side-by-side with the XL Gearwrench and the Gearwrench is 50% longer. This makes it lot easier to get a fastener turning without popping all the veins out on your neck. In a tight area, the ratcheting action makes these worth their weight in gold. This very complete set is in a blow-molded case that would fit nicely in a large toolchest drawer. It has those weird tabs on one end that make it look like you could hang it up, but they’re too far offset for that.

With wrench sizes ranging from 5/16 to 1 inch this 13 piece set can do most any job a homeowner would ever need. My first job using these wrenches was to remove a lawn mower blade and it was very easy with the ratcheting end. I don’t usually save the packaging, but the tray these come in holds them all safely and securely, but it also clearly marks the size. So I think I’ll keep them in the case on my work bench.

WOW, what a set of wrenches, box end combo wrench had me kind of concerned a little bit. After a day of use all my concerns are gone. Bust a fastener loose with the fixed box end wrench and flip over to the ratchet end and go to town. Set is 5/16 to 1 inch and everything you need in between. These have a great feel to them and the extra length gives you all the leverage you need. The ratchet has a very positive feel during use, a little tight but got better as the day went on and they got some lube worked through them. The fixed box end has a straight offset that took me by suprize, grips the entire head of the bolt or nut which will lessen the likelihood of stripping even the used up fasteners. Great set of tools Gearwrench.

Awesome long wrench set. If you ever need leverage in a tight spot this will save your butt. The standard box end I use for breaking free the bolt or nut then flip it end for end to use the ratcheting box. I had a large nut to remove on my motorcycle with very little space. There wasn’t enough room to put a standard ratchet and socket on it, much less room to swing a regular wrench. With the 3/4 in wrench from this set I easily broke the nut free and removed it. And did I say these wrenches are long? The 1 in wrench is 18 3/4 in long. Good for some serious torque.

The GearWrench Brand, SAE XL GearBox Double Box Ratcheting Wrench Set (13-Piece) is a specialized wrench set finding its greatest utility working with fasteners commonly sold at Home Depot and most hardware stores. For automotive use their SAE dimensions are more suitable for vintage cars as automotive manufacturers were rapidly adopting the metric standard in the 1980’s and beyond. Home Depot carries a wide variety of SAE fasteners commonly used in commercial construction projects as well as home owner projects, maintenance and repairs in the US. Each Double Box Ratcheting Wrench incorporates a ratcheting head at one end and a 12-point box end head at the other end. In most cases, box end wrenches are used for holding a nut or bolt, while another wrench, such as a ratcheting socket wrench is used on the other nut or bolt to tighten the fastener assembly. Where a box end ratchet really finds its place in industry is where there is simply not enough space or room to fit a ratcheting socket wrench. While ratcheting box end wrenches are often used in specialized applications, it is one that is vastly made easier and faster than removing a non-ratcheting box end wrench each time to turn a fastener a fraction of a turn. These end wrenches feature extra length for superior leverage and torque; a fine-tooth ratchet mechanism and have a smooth chrome finish that is comfortable in the hand and is easy to wipe clean.
