This 5 piece ratcheting flare nut wrench set is handy when working in tight or hard to reach spaces because of the swivel on the end. The wrench set comes in a molded plastic case that has no lid but the pieces snap securely into each space. There are 5 wrenches in the set with a different size on each end so there are 10 sizes, 1/4″ – 7/8″. I would use these only in the hard to reach areas as they do not function as well as a standard open-end crescent wrench but are really handy when I do need them.

I like this GearWrench SAE Ratcheting Flex Flare Nut Wrench Set 5-Piece, they are the first set of ratcheting wrench’s I have used and so far so good. The design with the flexible jaw to grip the fitting is a great plus and has already helped me on a partial rounded nut. The extra length helps for some extra torque and the flex head can get you into those difficult spots.

Ok another good effort by gearwrench. These wrenches are line wrenches the type that fits over a pipe or shaft then slides on to the nut. Brake lines come to mind as an example. These things are great over my old fixed ones as the jaws ratchet and the jaw head pivots from zero to 90 degrees and anything in between. The fit and finish is great and the ratchet jaws are over the top handy no more back the wrench off and reposition it to continue tightening and or loosening. Works great as a standard box or open end wrench replacement as well. What didn’t I like well believe it or not the plastic case it comes in. Oh check your size on each end I had one in the set that was supposed to be 5/16 and 1/4 and it was actually 5/16, 5/16

A great and valuable addition to any tool chest. This set will cover the needs mechanics and technicians almost everywhere. The size range, from 1/4 inch to 7/8 inch is good for motorcycles, passenger vehicles, vans, trucks and more. Each of the wrench heads will move greater than 180 degrees to maximize the flexibility of the tools and increase the chances of being able to get good leverage on the flare nut. A couple of the flexible heads were a bit on the stiff side compared to the others but nothing drastic. The heads stay in position and the ratcheting feature makes work on difficult to reach fasteners that bit quicker. Each of the wrenches is clearly marked on both sides making tool selection easy. With a chrome finish that is easy to wipe clean this set will keep looking good for a long time. The custom case holds each wrench firmly and there is no danger of a tool accidentally dropping out. The lifetime warranty rounds off the excellent quality of this set.

This GearWrench Ratcheting Flex Flare Nut Wrench Set is OK. It comes in a fitted plastic tray and includes 5 sizes (1/4 in. x 5/16 in. , 3/8 In. x 7/16 in. ½ in. x 9/16 in., 5/8 in. x 11/16 in., and ¾ in. x 7/8 in.). I have some regular old flare nut wrenches that I’ve had since I began working with A/C back in 1970. I use them for flare nuts, as well as compression fittings, with ease. At first glance, this GearWrench set looks like it would be great, but I’m really sure yet whether I like these wrenches. The flexible ends do help work around some obstacles. However, this feature makes them considerably longer than other flare nut wrenches, and the ends are much bulkier. At this point, the ratcheting ends seem to me to be more of a hassle to get on a fitting than standard flare nut wrench ends. Overall, these wrenches just seem awkward, and not really useful. After using them more, I might find that they’re better, but right now, not so great, especially at over $80.00.

Great quality flare nut wrenches with a twist. Not only do these wrenches have flex heads but they have a unique semi ratcheting set up that makes them more versatile in tight quarters, like under the hood of a car. Flare nuts are notoriously weak and if they have been over tightened they can be hard to get loose and a specialized flare nut wrench keeps the nut from distorting when pulled on hard. I found these wrenches to be well made. The handles are smooth and fit your hand well. The wrenches are plated with a good quality chrome job and should last a long time. These wrenches come in commonly used sizes and they come with their own caring case. You also get GearWrenches Limited Lifetime Warranty which is pretty comprehensive.

Being a woodworker and not so much a mechanic I have a unique view on wrenches. I need them to be able to get into tight spaces, do their job and get back out without damaging any wood. I do have a couple sets of pretty good wrenches, but this set with it’s adjustable open heads with ratcheting capabilities plus flex heads make this a very good tool for my uses. Plus it comes with the small sizes a lot of sets don’t include (1/4 and 5/16 inch). Very pleased with this set for my needs. The movable jaws seem a bit loose.

So I got this set of Gearwrench SAE ratcheting flex flare but wrench set and I can say if they go by weight, they maybe a winner. They come in a plastic holder, per say, without a top. I’m going to throw them in a drawer so no big deal, but if they where going on a truck I dont like that there’s no top to the holding box. Dont get me wrong, they have a tight fit in the holder but it kinda takes up a lot of room. They seem to be well built and are heavy while holding them. A few rough spots on the hinge part but should work well.
