Great quality tool, used these the first time this weekend to repair the AC. These work great when I needed to get into the tight areas to work on some long bolts that I could not get the deep wall ratchet in to. These saved the day for me, I think they put this AC system in the middle of the factory floor and built the car around it. With these I was able to get into some tight spots and use the box end. In one spot the bolt was too close to the bracket and need a “normal” box end wrench, boy did I miss the ratchetting feature of these. The finish of these wrenches is great, nice and smoothly polished. With the holder I simply hung them on the side of my toolbox, easy access and keeps me from digging through the pile of other wrenches I have in the draw of the tool box. Now that I have these, doubt I will be digging through the pile very often, I will go to these first.

I wish I had these ratcheting combination wrenches years ago these wrenches are solidly made allowing you to put plenty of leverage on the tightest nuts and bolts without slipping off. The ratcheting mechanism allows for you to use the ratchet box end of wrench in the smallest of places where you are limited on the amount of space you can turn. The ratcheting mechanism are very solidly built to prevent the box end of wrench from breaking loose while you using these wrenches.

Beautifully crafted, well made wrenches. The shaft on these wrenches is slimmer than on my husky wrenches. The finish is nice, shiny and very easily cleaned with a rag. The ratcheting box ends are 12 point and only require a slight turn back to get another bite, which will come in very handy in a tight spot. They require to be turned over to ratchet the other way since there is no switch. There is an “r” on one side indicating it is the right turning (tightening) side. This standard set covers all of the usual sizes from 1/4 inch up to an inch. The numbers on the wrenches are a good size as to be easily seen. The molded plastic package holds the wrenches securely. Just insert one side of the wrench in and then snap the other side in. It works great to hang on the wall and is perfect as a handle to carry the wrenches around. There are a couple mounting holes on the mold but i just use the handle. On the wall it takes up about 14×14 inches

Works great! No problems yet! I’m an alignment technician and I use these religiously! Had them for 2 months. The only thing is the teeth in the ratchet end needs to be finer. So a little play but gets the job done in a reasonable time frame.

GEARWRENCH was the original patented ratcheting combination wrench. It has 72 teeth in the ratcheting end of the wrench. This allows using the ratcheting at a 5 degree movement in tight spaces. The wrenches can be turned over to tighten or loosen any nut or bolt. This is a quality wrench set which is strong allowing them to be able to apply torque perpendicular to the bolt or nut. The configuration of the ratcheting end eliminates rounding of the bolt head or nut. The design of the thin shanks allows for the wrenches to be used in the tightest places. Exceeds ANSI, DNI and federal torque specifications standards. I had previously purchased a metric set which I was very satisfied with the quality of the tools. Distributed by Apex Tool Group based out of Maryland.

After another simple repair task was made tougher than is it should have been by a missing/lost/borrowed-and-not-returned (choose one) ratcheting wrench I finally broke down and ordered a new set. As a former auto repair shop owner I remember when I bought my first set from the tool man as more of a curiosity purchase than out of need. GearWrenches quickly they became part of my most used tools from a time saver and convenience of use standpoint. I will always grab a ratcheting wrench before a box or traditional style open end wrench due their convenience of use. They are especially useful when working in very tight spaces due to their 5 degree minimal range of motion. The 13 piece GearWrench SAE Racheting Combination Wrench Set comes with its own sturdy “Wrench Locker” (a plastic snap in carrier/organizer that works well but is too big for all but the largest tool box drawers). The GearWrench name has been around for +/- 20years – I believe they introduced the “ratcheting wrench” concept to the tool world but don’t quote me. They come with a manufacturing defect lifetime warranty (whatever that is). I have used and abused my original set for all kinds of wrenching challenges and have never had a problem with one so I can’t speak to that issue. I will say that I don’t wail on them or use an extension bar once I have established that a nut or bolt is frozen (common sense). So if you haven’t figured it out yet I really like the GearWrench product. If you are just starting your tool set or an aspiring auto tech or handy man you can’t go wrong investing in a GearWrench set (both metric and SAE – in as large a set as your budget will allow).

This is a full sized set of ratcheting wrenches. The largest is 1 inch and is really long. The teeth are fine so only a small movement is required to get the next gear. The are two things to be aware of about them, however. First, there is no switch to change the direction, you flip the wrench over. Not a big deal. The other thing bothers me more, the machining of the notches is rounded on the end. I am concerned that this will more easily round over the fastener. It hasn’t happened yet, however. If it turns into a real problem for me, this rating is too high. But if it doesn’t, this may be too low.

SAE Master Combination Ratcheting Wrench Set (13-Piece)by GearWrenchPackaging Contents: 13 wrenches plus trayDescription: This is a set of combination wrenches. The box end is a 12-point ratcheting type. The sizes are 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 7/16/ 1/2, 9/16, 5/8, 11/16, 3/4, 13/16, 7/8, 15/16 and 1 inch.Lifetime warranty.Usage: Everybody loves a ratcheting box end wrench, and if you use SAE sizes, these are just the ticket. And of course, you’ll like the patented 5 degree movement.Their SurfaceDrive technology virtually eliminates rounded corners on fasteners. The tray is handy; fitting into a thin tool drawer. The tools did not shake loose when turned upside down. That is good.I find that the benefits to these wrenches include the zero offset and narrow design which allows them to fit in tight spaces. There are always places I’ve wished to reach but was held back by heavy, thick tool forgings. Using a better metal and making it thinner is a real useful benefit.Another benefit is the smoothness of operation. No wobble or binding in the internal mechanism. This is a complete set with no missing sizes.Overall Thoughts:Premium tools at a a fair price.

This is a review of Apex ‘s GearWrench 13-pc SAE ratcheting combination [box and open] wrench set Item # 9312.The set is made in China. Sizes include 1/4 thru 1″ in 1/16″ increments. The box end are 12-point.These are impressive tools: great fit and finish [no uncomfortable edges]; substantial, e.g. the 1″ wrench comes in at 12.75″ long and 1 lb 2 oz!Not sure about warranty particulars but they’re labeled “lifetime warranty”.Nothing’s said about the finish … I wonder if it’s chrome vanadium, which I consider the standard for excellent corrosion resistance. So here’s what you need to know about these wrenches when comparing to the many other: they’re flat [straight], i.e. there’s no offset at either end; except for the two smallest wrenches [1/4″ and 5/16″, whose ratchets engage every 6 deg], the ratchets engage every 5 degrees …thus, they’re called “speed” wrenches; the heads are not the thinnest you’ll find … the 1″ open end measures 3/16″ thick and the box end 9/16″ thick; the ratchet is designed [“Surface Drive”] to load the sides of the nuts and less on their points [less potential for round-over].There’s a caution that you shouldn’t use on “frozen” nuts … i.e. avoid persuaders and hammers. The storage rack is nice … best used when it’s mounted to wall.

This is a fantastic set of wrenches. The holder they come in is nice too.
