The Dual Link DVI to Mini DisplayPort Converter from Gefen works with all Mac and PC computers with a mini-DisplayPort. Using dual link DVI graphics, the Dual Link DVI-to-Mini-DisplayPort Converter supports resolutions up to 2560×1600.
It’s designed as a plug-and-play solution for viewing DVI video using the Mini DisplayPort interface with audio support. The Dual Link DVI to Mini DisplayPort Converter can also be used with displays using standard DisplayPort connections with a passive Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable.
Audio support is provided through the built-in 3.5mm audio jack. The audio output is fed through the Mini DisplayPort connector on the unit. An EDID switch button is provided for manually selecting the three EDID modes: 2560×1600, 2560×1440, or pass-through. The unit is powered using the included USB cable.

I use both Apple & PC computers, I have a 24 Apple monitor that I used for business presentations on occasion. With all the Pico / Portable projectors available I was able to lighten my travel load, but what do I do with my Apple monitor? This Link DVI allowed me to connect my 24 Apple monitor to my Windows PC and it works great. Gave away my old 24 Gateway monitor. I’m very happy with the purchase. B&H was great in helping me find the right solution. Thanks guys! PS – I’m a CFP and not in sales for B&H or or this company. I write this only because I never write review and discount most of them.

Would have given it 5 stars but it’s pretty expensive for what it does. I had an expensive hi res 27 U2713 Dell monitor that was connected to the DVI port on my old Power Mac Pro. I needed to mirror that display with another one (P2416D) that would be mounted about 8 feet away. Any mirrored monitor has to run at the same resolution as the main one (2560 x 1440 in this case). I thought a DVI to HDMI cable would work, but nothing I tried would go beyond 1920×1200, which forced me to run the main monitor at a lower resolution as well. This product allowed me to use the DP port on the second Dell monitor and now both displays run fine at 2560×1440. No picture degradation at all. Once you hook it up you can forget about it.

Just received this, plugged it in to my ancient ATI Radeon HD 5770 DVI-D port on my equally ancient MacPro 2006 model, and then into a far less ancient Dell U2717D monitor and without even having to mess with any settings on the Gefen device, I immediately started getting 2560×1440! At long last! Have tried numerous cable adapters that claimed to be DVD-D Dual Link – HDMI, but not one worked. I have only few complaints. 1. The LED’s on the front are really bright. Not something you want in you line of sight. 2. I haven’t opened it, but I feel like it could easily be redesigned into an in-line adapter that would be much smaller. It truly weighs next to nothing. 3. The cost is pretty high, but at least B&H has it for (currently) more than $50 less than what Amazon is selling it for. For the cost, it really could have included DVI and Mini-DP cables. None of which makes want to give it less than 5 stars as now I can run all three ports from my video card at 2560×1440 which is just awesome!

Purpose: connect the 27 Apple LED Cinema Display to my PC Pros: easy to use, connects to my PC for power, small form factor that hides itself well Cons: does not come with all the cables necessary, the blue LEDs can be annoying if you have to stare at them incessantly.

I got this to allow me to connect my 27 Mini Display port Cinema display to a Lenovo T410. It works great. I share this between my Macbook Air and the Lenovo.
