ordered this from Home Depot; fast shipping; drill was packed very nicely; assembly of the drill press took about 45 minutes; I lubricated while assembling. I had looked at other brands of drill presses before buying the General. The general had the most features that I wanted for the least amount of money. The laser light works quite well; as some other reviewers have said ;the light is battery operated by 2 included AAA batteries. I forsee no problems with the laser light; as I will only use it t0 align the work piece ;then shut the laser off; batteries should last a long time; the work light is LED; gives off sufficient light for most applications. The depth gauge is an improvement over older models of drill presses years ago; easy to set the correct depth; and nothing to get in the way while drilling. all in all ; this is a drill press that will last you for many years.

I find it easy to use and it works great for me

It’s a good drill press for the money. The chuck is not so good, wobbly and inconsistent. Overall, I am happy with the drill considering the price.

I’m very happy with the drill press. I use it in my small business so it’s mostly light duty work. It does the jobs for which I bought it.

I am happy with this purchase. I’m not a professional wood worker but in my home garage this is perfect for hobby working. I do find a slight wobble when the drill spins up, making it difficult to get extreme precision but the kind of precision I’m talking about is not something I ever need to have. Still though, not perfect and that’s why I didn’t pick 5 stars. Everything else though, so far, great.

Excellent product, replaced a very old 8″ drill press.

I believe the term VARIABLE SPEED is deceiving. It gives the impression that it is dial speed controlled. When it is in fact a multiple speed drill press, accomplished by changing the drive belt locations.

Good for the price. Only qualm is the chuck assembly is prone to go off axis a degree or 2 under light pressure, and has a hard time maintaining a constant angle downward. Do not us for horizontal milling. Otherwise cuts through steel with at 1/4 bit easily at the right speed.

The General Drill Press was easy to assemble and the standard features are nice especially the alignment laser.

Let’s be honest about this product. It is not industrial grade. But it is very reasonable priced. Based on that knowledge and owning the product, this is an excellent drill press. There are several versions of this drill press on the market. This is the one that has the most features and is almost totally metal. And it is below the midpoint price comparing all of these choices.

This drill is smooth, durable, and quiet.Worth every penny. I was unsure about it up until the moment I first flipped it on. But It honestly surprised me!

I read the reviews and did my research and decided on purchasing this drill press, and there are no regrets. When it arrived (ahead of estimated date) there was no signs of rough shipping treatment, I unpacked it and everything was in proper condition. There was no black gunk as one writer claimed and assembly was easily completed in about twenty minutes. I checked the table to make sure it was square and to reference the scale and it was spot on at various angles. just remember this is a Benchtop not a floor model so don’t expect the same capabilities to be present.
