What a nice addition to my tool box. For years I have used spray cans with tubes or even oil cans to lubricate things. I was always cleaning up the overspray or runs. With this Precision Oiler, from General Tools, I can put a drop, or even a part of a drop, exactly where I need it. The very top of the aluminum tube has a knob that dispenses the fluid (could be oil, penetrating oil etc). There is a very fine metal rod that actually pushes out the oil. The unit comes with a pocket clip and o-rings guarantee there will be no leaks. I will use it on my fishing reels, guns and other hard to lube equipment like sewing machines. You owe it to yourself to get one of these oilers at your local Home Depot. You will use it more than you think.

Simply put, this is a little jewel. The quality of the unit is very good. The are sealing O rings both in the body and in the cap. Making it very oil tight. No matter how you store it, whether it be in you shirt pocket or in you tool box, it won’t leak. The oil is gravity fed and not a pump. The preciseness of where you can place the oil is excellent. Unlike a spray can where it goes everywhere.

Tried everything to lube a wrought iron gate hinge unsuccessfully. Had the hinge with a ball top for lubing but this item worked perfectly. No more outrageous sqeeking. Highly recommended.

Worked exactly as expected for hobby use for very detailed lubrication.

I needed a precision oiler to lubricate an antique clock works. It performed as expected giving a controlled amount of oil to the precise location where it was needed without a lot of excess. Since it performed as expected, I rate it “good.” I had trouble finding one and turned to the internet.

A much needed product to make lubricating small areas and firearm components simple and easy. From small sports equipment, fishing rods and hinges to hand tools that need a little loosening this micro oiler from GENERAL fits the bill. All aluminum construction makes this oiler a lot more durablethen the squeeze bottles with snap on needle tips that I have been using in the past. The push button on top gradually releases oil and then stops when you release button. The more you push down the more oil that is released. I originally tried this precision oiler with a synthetic cross between oil and grease but would barely come out ( a little too thick ) so I cleaned it out and filled it with REM OIL from Remington. I have lubed components of my lever action, oiled the pivot points of lineman pliers, etc. I have also used this on the lift struts on lift gate of my SUV as well to make lifting and closing smoother. This handy little oiler is in the front pocket of my gear bag and am thinking of getting a second one to keep in my tool box.

Gentlemen, this General Tools Precision Oiler should remind us all that Home Depot tools can be used for more than the man shed. My wife is a quilter and has many sewing machines from Vintage Singers to state-of-the-art Berninas. They all require precise lubrication to operate properly and the cost fo have the retail shop perform that operation is now well over $100.00 per time. This oiler allows her to precisely lubricate the critical parts with the correct amount of lubrication. Obviously, this tool will meet or exceed the requirements for lubricating other precise instruments in the shop or on the job and can be carried in your pocket for ready use. I highly recommend this product for its precision and money saving applications.

The oil reservoir can be filled with your lubricant of choice. The main benefit is the ability to precisely place oil without unintentionally spraying the whole area as can happen with a can. The reservoir seals well with a screw top and doesn’t leak when on its side or upside down. If you quickly depress the actuator button you can release a single drop of oil. If you press it slowly or keep it depressed, multiple droplets will release. The oiler has a screw on cap and pocket clip giving it the appearance of a thick pen. Good specialized tool.

Its a nice little gadget for putting oil/lubricant into tight places or onto small parts. I’ve already used it on my mountain bikes and will definitely be using it on my motorcycles. You can fill it up with whatever lubricant you want. It has rubber O-rings to ensure a tight fit snd prevent leaking. You dispense the oil by pushing in the button (like on a mechanical pencil or pen), and this pushes out the stopper on the end of the tube, allowing the oil to flow out. How much and how fast it comes out depends somewhat on the viscosity of the oil you use. Personally, I wish the tube and hole were a little smaller, to let less oil out. But, it’s still better than directly from the can/bottle.It seems like its constructed very well – better than I expected. It would take a lot more than simply dropping it to break it.

This is definitely a specialized tool, but if you need it, it is great to have on hand. It has countless uses, of course, but I got it specifically to oil my fishing reels (yes, they do need oil occasionally!), but plan to also use it for other things like my kids’ electric train engines, which also require lubrication occasionally. I’m sure I’ll come up with many other uses as time goes on. The oiler itself is very well-made, with all-aluminum construction, a pocket clip, rubber O-ring seals and a smooth-operating actuator, operated with the push of your thumb. Basically, you place the “needle” end at the spot you want to deposit the lubricant, then gently depress the thumb button on the end. A tiny metal rod emerges from the end of the “needle,” allowing a tiny amount of lubricant out of the oiler. Just release the thumb button and the tiny metal rod retreats back into the needle, sealing off the reservoir. Great design and exceptional construction. A nice product!

Precision Oiler “pen”This is a great pen size oiler. The button end unscrews so you can fill it with oil. The pen cap end screws off to reveal the needlepoint end of the oiler. It seems well made, and the rubber o-rings prevent leaking. The thumb actuator works very smoothly and allows precise control of drops of oil. It is not pressurized, it is gravity fed, but works very well. We really like this oiler. It is great for lubricating our antique sewing machine. It is so easy to get single drops of oil as needed.

This precision (“one-drop”) oiler is well-made; machined from aluminum rod stock. It is not flimsy like the cheaper plastic ones. It costs more money, but it’s worth it. It comes with O-ring seals to keep oil from seeping out, and I’m sure that’s effective, but I wanted to store the oiler upright, to prevent seepage, and to make it easier to find when I want to use it. I made a little wooden stand, using my table saw (also from Home Depot) and drill press. Works great!. See picture.

Allows you to get oil to hard to reach places. I used it for a fan motor, It will also work on other similar things. It is well made.

Fantastic tool for any DIY person that Home Depot should carry on the shelf in their stores. Puts lubricant exactly where needed with NO MESS!

I use this oiler for performing maintenance on my wife’s sewing machines. Sewing machines have a lot of moving parts that just need a tiny bit of oil. If they are over oiled the oil gets on the fabric and ruins it and tends to eventually turn to gum and lock everything up. With this oiler it is possible not only to add just a touch of oil but to reach into tight locations where it is hard to get a normal oil can. The thumb plunger works flawlessly and you can put anywhere from a tiny drop to a large drop on the target. I reduced the rating one star to a four because the oiler leaks a tiny bit. The leak isn’t big but it leaves a small oil stain if you leave it lying around.
