Each easy-to-use set includes a hardened steel whole cutter, a matched mandrel/anvil pair, a hardwood backer block and an assortment of grommets, sizes (1/2 in. and 3/8 in.) as well as the option to purchase additional grommets.

After using this kit to install grommets on my outdoor table cover, I wonder why I went so long without this product. Installing grommets with it is fairly easy and just takes some hard swings of a hammer. No more over-stretching bungees or tarps flying around! The kit comes with everything you need to install 1/2″ or 3/8″ grommets. It includes 6 of each size. Installing is easy, you bunch out the hole with a hammer then hammer the male and female ends of the grommet together with the tools supplied in the kit. These grommets can also be used on tents, curtains, straps, etc.The comes in a case which is great except the grommets tend to end up in other compartments of the case. The wood block (a backing for hammering holes in the tarp) that comes with the kit is a nice hardwood but will wear out over time. I tried using a 2×4 scrap which worked but was generally too soft for the job and did not work too well. Hammering the cutout hole in the tarp I find is the hardest part, you need to hammer around the edges of the cutter to makes sure you get a good hole. When adding grommets, if possible, fold over the edge of the tarp for added strength. Grommets are made of rust-resistant brass. This grommet kit is made in India.

I’m on a quarantine driven garage organization spree, and this toolkit is just the ticket. Puches holes in everything I’ve thrown at it so far. I’ve done several pairs of work gloves so I can hang on pegboard, rubber boots and a flag. I will be needing more grommets soon!

First time adding grommets to anything and it was so easy. I cut up a fence screen to make curtains for or screened in porch. The fence screen had grommets every 2 feet, unfortunately once cut in 8 foot sections, the grommets did fall where we needed them. This kit made it easy with the hole punch and attachment tool. I did use a 2 x 4 instead of the small piece of wood provided. Everything worked great. I may be adding more grommets to a few camping tarps now that I know how easy it is.

It has everything it needs. Before getting this, I was planning to cut out a hole using scissor but this has hole puncher with wood block support.
