Since 1910, General Tools has grown to become the recognized industry leader for specialty hand tools and instruments. Carpenters, builders, interior decorators and DIYers know that crown molding lends artistic flair to ceilings and walls. Whether dressing-up ceilings, adding decorative elements to cabinetry or enhancing door and window hoods, Generals Crown King jig enables cutting precise joining angles every time. Its distinct design eliminates confusing upside-down miter box positioning and compound angle cutting, enabling fast and easy production of interior and exterior corner joints. With its 38/52 Degree insert, the Crown King enables cutting the three most common crown molding spring angles.
- Removes annoying trial and error and streamlines the creation of crown molding since crown stock is orientated in the crown king jig the same way it is installed so it’s easier to visualize and plan cuts, no flipping stock or inverting angles
- Crown king jig eliminates the need for confusing upside-down miter box positioning, compound-angle cutting, complicated compound miter angle calculations, coping of joints, back-cuts and auxiliary fences
- Features adaptor for 52° and 38° spring angle crown stock or remove adapter to cut 45° spring angle crown
- Create perfectly fitting interior and exterior crown moulding joints
- End-user needs only to rotate the saw blade to the angle corresponding to the corner of the walls
- 4-simple steps: (1) measure the interior (INT) and exterior (EXT) corners using the included angle finder/protractor, (2) set the saw blade direction as indicated on the top of the jig, then set the blade at 1/2 of the measured angle, (3) hold moldings securely in the jig and make the cut using an electric or hand miter saw, (4) test fit and then install crown molding
- Includes handy angle finder/protractor
- Suitable for electrical miter saws, radial and table saws and adjustable manual miter saws
- 1-year limited warranty

Tool comes with a pamphlet that explains exactly how to use it. It took 10 minutes to go over pamphlet but it worked to perfection as well. It so helped me realize my crown was 38 degrees, not a 45 degree crown. It has adjustments to do 38, 45, and 52 degree crown. It got easier as I used it and did what it was supposed to

This cutting jig has made installing crown moulding fast and easy. Using the jig eliminates the uncertainty of setting up the section to cut and delivers an accurate cut each time. While I am only doing the standard 45 degree installation, it’s nice to have the flexibility to install at different angles. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. I would definitely recommend this for anyone installing crown moulding.

This product allows you to cut the molding in the position it is going in. Other jigs require you to cut it upside down and backwards. As if crown is not hard enough. You can use your $130 chop saw with this jig. All cuts are made straight up and down. So all you need is a saw that will cut 45 degree and 22.5 degree straight up and down cuts, left and right. The jig somehow adjusts for the compound miter aspect. The printed instructions that come with it are great. They include examples and color photos of each cut. I watched a video too. The only problem I had, it was missing one of the plastic pieces. The box is not taped shut from the factory. I returned it and bought another and before I bought I made sure all the parts were there. I could not be happier, $20 well spent. Buy an extra 5′ of molding and practice a little. After 1 day, I am confident now doing crown. Amazing!

Miter jig worked as advertised. Aslo came with compass to measure corner angles.

So far it is doing a great job. I just have to remember that the right and left is based on the angle and not the right or left side of the trim board. So the right angle is on the left side of the board and Visa-a-vi. For clarity I always say – cut into the ceiling (top of crown). The wall side is what I call the floor is the longest board. So in short – never cut into your toes!

This is one of those tools that once you have it, you wonder how you got along without it. I’ve installed hundreds of feet of crown molding over the years and managed with my compound miter saw. I was was remodeling our fireplace and building a new mantel out of 5 1/2″ crown molding and it was kicking my butt! I was actually looking for a Kreg jig, but HD didn’t have in stock in the store, so I bought the General. It was $10 cheaper and did what I needed it to do. I intend to install some smaller crown shortly on another project and you can bet this tool will be part of my repertoire when I do.

The jig was helpful, but we still had issues and trouble trying to get the angles to meet in the corners. The walls are not square so perhaps that was part of the problem. It was better to use the jig rather than try and cut the angles without it.

First try without the jig resulted in less than stellar results due to holding the moulding not exact each time. Was able to successfully complete a project with no odd angles or issues after trying out the jig. Well worth the purchase for a complete novice when it comes to cutting moulding.
