Since 1910, General Tools has grown to become the recognized industry leader for specialty hand tools and instruments. Carpenters, builders, interior decorators and DIYers know that crown molding lends artistic flair to ceilings and walls. Whether dressing-up ceilings, adding decorative elements to cabinetry or enhancing door and window hoods, Generals Crown King jig enables cutting precise joining angles every time. Its distinct design eliminates confusing upside-down miter box positioning and compound angle cutting, enabling fast and easy production of interior and exterior corner joints. With its 38/52 Degree insert, the Crown King enables cutting the three most common crown molding spring angles.
- Removes annoying trial and error and streamlines the creation of crown molding since crown stock is orientated in the crown king jig the same way it is installed so it’s easier to visualize and plan cuts, no flipping stock or inverting angles
- Crown king jig eliminates the need for confusing upside-down miter box positioning, compound-angle cutting, complicated compound miter angle calculations, coping of joints, back-cuts and auxiliary fences
- Features adaptor for 52° and 38° spring angle crown stock or remove adapter to cut 45° spring angle crown
- Create perfectly fitting interior and exterior crown moulding joints
- End-user needs only to rotate the saw blade to the angle corresponding to the corner of the walls
- 4-simple steps: (1) measure the interior (INT) and exterior (EXT) corners using the included angle finder/protractor, (2) set the saw blade direction as indicated on the top of the jig, then set the blade at 1/2 of the measured angle, (3) hold moldings securely in the jig and make the cut using an electric or hand miter saw, (4) test fit and then install crown molding

You have to pay attention to how you have the yellow angle piece put in the angle holder. This is a good tool too have. If you have any waves in your wall it will throw the joints off.

Made my first time installing crown molding a breeze. Just follow the instructions and think where your measurement marks will be in relation to your saw blade.

This jig makes it very easy to make correct and accurate cuts for crown molding installation. Using a 10-inch (or larger) miter saw, it is very straightforward to make internal and external corner cuts. I recently installed approx. 110 linear feet of crown molding in my kitchen and dining room. The room layout included 20 corners, which involved trimming around boxes for ceiling mounted kitchen cabinets, and ‘straight runs’ in the dining room. After making a few sample cuts, the actual task of cutting the molding pieces went fairly quickly. Definitely easier than trying to make use of ‘exotic’ cutting angles and trying to cut molding that is lying flat on the miter saw base (which I’m sure is second nature to the pros). For the DIY’er like myself, this is a ‘must have ‘ tool to easily achieve great results. The protractor included with the jig allows you to measure the actual ‘squareness’ of the corners, so that adjustments can be made for corners that are not exactly 90 degrees.

This is the best help for cutting crown moulding, I’ve found. If I’d known of this product when I remodeled my mom’s home, her kitchen moulding would be so much better. It is easy to use and I’m mad I did not look for it earlier. The directions labelled the example angels incorrectly but other than that – great product. I did have to You Tube how to measure for interior and exterior angle on the same piece of moulding. How to measure, would be good information to put in the tool’s directions.

I would seriously like to buy a case of beer for whomever came up with this handy device. It turned an absolutely confusing/frustrating/costly (due to mistakes) operation and made it flawless. This thing is phenomenal!

Total noob with crown molding. Got the alter, could not make it work for me. Last ditch effort and my project came out fantastic thanks to this guy. Love it.

The job of installing crown moldings, although still a challenge for various other reasons, was made much easier by the use of this tool. Holding each piece up to the saw fence, in hopefully the exact right spot, is not really viable when you can use this product instead.

After watching the product YouTube video twice, and double checking all my work before cutting, I used exactly the amount of material I ordered and made no BAD cuts. At last my inside and outside angles of 45 degree tipped ceiling molding is completed — beautifully.

Anazing tool. How did I manage without it before?

The jig is helpful if you’re going to do a one-shot project, maybe a couple. I would recommend a grip clamp to fasten it to your miter saw’s fence as you do have to hold the moulding up against the middle piece of the jig. Without the clamp the plastic has a tendency to slip around on the metal.

I am really glad I bought this product. It comes with instructions and the manufacturer provide YouTube video on how to use the product. The jig does not require me to flip the Molding as other jigs require. The protractor that came with the product has been easy to use and very valuable.

1st time I’ve done crown molding. Watching videos and reading how to cut it became so confusing. Purchased this item and it was quick and easy to use – all the cuts fits together like a glove. Saved a ton of time

Didn’t help as much as I would like. Fairly expensive for a plastic jig that is a bit difficult to master.
