About what I expected. Belt adjuster is kind of ‘flacky’. Could be better. I thought the front cover would lift up for close in work like the Black and Decker, but apparently not. At least I can’t get it to lift. Variable speed is good. Overall, OK for home use. Probably would not stand up to industrial use.

liked it a lot. great value for the price. steel roller on front. rarely having to adjust belt travel. 2 things would like to see a little more rpm for the amps and belt tensioner could be stronger so you don’t end up with belt slip and premature belt change. good warrenty cause mine blew up in six weeks only used it for few of those .

I bought this to refinish my son’s bedroom floor. It works well after you figure out the speed and adjustments so you don’t blow through belts. The dust bag does not work at all!

Well made solid built sander, good value for the price. A good tool for home owner or do it yourselfer. Bought this to use on my deck. The open side works well to get close to walls and posts. The low front lets you get under railings.

I purchased the Genesis sander back in August 2020. I used it to refinish my 500 sqft deck. Overall the sander worked well with one exception. The dust bag would often clog where the bag attaches to the sander which required me to remove the bag and clean the area with a brush to remove the caked dust. To be fair I was sanding my wooden deck with 40 grit belts which did generate a lot of dust. However the sander worked well and the 8 amp motor provided good power. It was nice to have the variable speed option to use a lower speed while cleaning the belt to extend the sanding belt life. I think the sander is a good value for someone who is willing to put up with having to deal with cleaning the dust bag attachment area from time to time.

This is the best sander I’ve used to date, and quickly becoming one of my very favorite tools of all time. It has lots of power, and paired with a coarse grit sanding belt, removes stock very quickly, yet leaves a precise, flat, and surprisingly smooth surface behind. It seems well-constructed. The tracking has been accurate, easy to adjust, rock-solid, and has given me no troubles. Having used the sander for about 6 months, I know I can pick it up and use it without giving belt tracking a single thought – although I do recommend checking it each time, anyway. (By the way, variable speed is great when adjusting tracking. You can run it super-slow while doing coarse adjustments.)I also appreciate how much air it blows through the motor for cooling. Even though this is an 8 Amp motor, it is more than adequately cooled. When considering which belt sander to buy, I was looking for several specific features. I found many options that had some features but not all of them. This one had all of them (with a little DIY tweaking added – more on this in a bit) plus some extra goodies.I was looking for a sander that:- Seemed sturdily built- Used a common belt size- Could be used handheld as well as mounted to a bench (required tweaking)- Had a small wheel in front, for tight-corner sanding and shaping small curves- Had a front guard that could be flipped away, to allow sanding inside those small curves (required tweaking)- Had a dust collection port (Belt sanders make a copious amount of fine dust!)- Had a powerful motor- Had variable speed (although this was more a “nice-to-have” rather than a requirement of mine)What I adjusted and “tweaked” to make it my dream sander:- To mount it to a bench, I had to build a holder. After 5 minutes of shaping a scrap 2×4 with this very belt sander, I had a bracket that hooked snugly into the front handle. The top of this sander is level, and sits very nicely against the rest of the board. Clamp the back of the belt sander to the board, and viola! I intend to put a hinge and pins on it and screw it to a workbench where I can easily ajust the angle of the sander, but I haven’t done that yet.- To connect it to a shop vacuum, I had to cut a little adapter from an old salad dressing bottle. The dust port on the sander is a non-standard rectangle.- To flip the nose guard up, I had to loosen a couple of the shell assembly screws near the front of the sander, and then remove a little metal retaining pin. After that, the guard flips up and stays up, or flips down and stays down. It looks like the design was originally intended to let you flip the guard up and down, but they decided later to add the pin to lock it in the down position. When using the sander hand-held, I leave the guard down for extra safety, but now I can flip it up when I’m using it bench-mounted and need to sand inside curved stock. The plastic that holds the guard steady may wear down and loosen over many flips, but I absolutely won’t complain, as I am using a function that apparently was removed for some reason. All of these tweaks were quick and easy for me to do, and now I have the sander of my dreams. I could not be happier with it. In fact, the only downside that I can think of is that the locking lever and mechanism to change the angle of the front handle is very firm, and at first I was afraid I might break the handle off before it changed angle. Well, it didn’t break. Besides, I’d much rather the handle lock very firmly into place than have it a bit too loose, so I’m very happy with it.

Works great. The only problem is the wire insert in the filter had loosened up. I hot glued it to the inside of the bag. I would recommend this to anyone!

So far, so good. Has plenty of power, like adjustable rpm dial, and easy to change belts.
