The Genesis GPS2304 5 in. Random Orbit Sander brings fast, swirl-free sanding from the commercial woodworking shop to the home workshop. It uses a standard 8-hole pattern 5 in. hook-and-loop sanding disc. Dust collection is through the pad into the included dust bag. The dual action of spinning and orbiting at the same time increases the sanding rate by 50% over a standard palm sander. It also creates a random sanding action that eliminates swirl marks in the final preparation of your work piece. A 3-Piece Sanding Disc assortment is included.

I’m not a power user and don’t do a lot of building, so I have made it through my little projects fairly well so far with a little Black & Decker Mouse sander. When you have larger jobs, though, it takes a lot of time and patience. I got this for those times when I just need to strip or smooth something out in a hurry or do the bulk of the job, and then finish up with the Mouse. This sander is a whiz! It uses “hoop and loop” (velcro) sanding discs that stick easily to the sander, just like the mouse, but I can get so many other grits to work with. The collection bag leaves a lot to be desired, but I didn’t actually expect it to work. I’m happy to add this sander to my meager collection of tools.

I’m impressed with how well this sander works for the price. I love the hook and loop system for changing sand paper. Just pull off the old one and stick on the new one. It is so quick you won’t waste any time. This sander has plenty of power for that medium duty sanding job. The key is to let the sander do the work. Don’t press down hard on it. The palm grip is rubberized for comfort. It also includes a dust bag. The on-off switch is protected from dust. And it comes with a 2 year warranty.
