This Genesis 120 Volt Spade handle electric drill is a great product. I for one like the 1/2 inch Chuck size over other similar drills that can only handle 3/8 inch drill shanks. It has a Variable speed trigger with dual control feature. For extended drilling it has a lock on button. It’s three position auxiliary handle and two position spade handle allow you greater control and precision for you jobs. Another feature I like is the externally accessible brush compartment for easy inspection and replacement.

The drill is rather inexpensive to current counterparts but don’t let that discourage you. It has the amperage to handle your mixing as I know, I bought one. It is actually better than I expected and I have not had a problem with it. Good price, good value and a good drill. Yes I would recommend.

This drill did the job, but didn’t have the torque I expected

Asa licensed plumber I work hard, so do my tools. This guy has worked flawlessly for me and I have not held back on how hard I pushed it. Not being a name brand unit, I really beat on it. We drilled over two hundred holes in a new home we were plumbing and it non stop all day. No issues to report, chuck is fine, heavy metal. Most of my failures with drill come from the chuck, this one is holding up.

I retuned it because it was too heavy!

The Genesis 120-Volt 1/2 in. Spade Handle Electric Drill is solidly built with a durable 1/2 inch metal keyed chuck and die cast aluminum gear housing. It includes an auxiliary handle that can be mounted on either side or the top and a spade handle that can be mounted horizontally or vertically on the rear. The motor is a brush based variable speed unit controlled by the trigger switch. Brushes are easily accessible for replacement. There is a dial in the center of the trigger that controls depth of trigger resulting in max speed control. There is also a lock-on button for those situations where you will run the drill for long periods of time. There is a chuck key holder integrated into the power cord strain relief. I would have preferred it lower down on the power cord so I could use the key without removing it from its holder. Overall this is a great drill, especially considering the price point and the two year warranty. It does however have some minor flaws. The aluminum gear housing cover came scratched up right out of the box. The provided screw for attaching the spade handle is too long and as a result bottoms out in the drill before fully securing the spade handle causing the handle to wiggle a bit. In addition, the plastic knob molded onto the screw had numerous flaws in the plastic which are probably a result of improper heating in the mold injection process. The drill was able to easily drive a one inch boring bit through 2 x 4s in my testing. The variable speed dial also worked nicely and consistently. The drill is big and heavy at nearly 8.8 pounds but is perfect for specific types of work needing durability and extended run time.

Very Versatile and Easy To Use! We have used this drill for everything from drilling holes in cement board siding to using it with a paddle to mix up a bucket of paint that had been sitting for a while. The Handle makes drilling or screwing in something so much easier. I was much less likely to mess up and go at a weird angle because the handle helped me keep the drill pointed in the right direction. We used it for over 5 hours on day and it never had a problem with over heating and kept on keeping on! We were able to get this fence and gate installed at a local animal rescue in less than a day using this power horse drill!

Great drill – solid construction, powerful, quick release and safe convenient storage for the chuck, useful removable handles since the drill is a little heavy

Rich Power, Inc. that makes Genesis tools positions the Genesis line this way, “Genesis Power Tools are basic High-Quality Power Tools for the Do it Yourselfer”. I think almost any person who is using their tools on weekends rather than every day will be quite pleased with this drill. It comes at a great price point given the construction and features like the two handles for controlling the torque and position of the drill. I particularly like the dial speed control near the trigger. It allows you to test drill and get the speed just right for the type of drilling or mixing you are doing. That’s particularly important when drilling wood versus metal versus aluminum or when mixing paint versus drywall compound versus thinset/grout. The chuck key is right there on a rubber keeper at the end of the cord near the drill body. It is one of a number of features that seem like the result of some serious thought about design. The only slight negative I have is that my spade handle, which is held by a machine threaded screw, does not quite fully tighen that handle before it bottoms out in the hole on the drill body. Not a big deal and can probably be remedied at the manufacturing facility very easily. I could probably file enough of the end of the part to create full engagement but I want to call the company to see if this has happened before or is a single event. As I said, it is not a big deal and the movement of the handle is quite minimal because of the way that it engages in the crosspiece that keeps the handle in one of two different positions 90 degrees apart. At this price point, you get a lot of features, good power and torque and a unit that seems very well built. In the photos you will see examples of 3/8″ holes from twist drills, a 1-3/8″ hole from a (dull) spade bit and a 2-3/8″ hole from a hole saw used to bore doors for door knobs and deadbolts.. (I learned that the center drill on my hole saw was bent but the drill still had enough speed adjustment to get the hole started without walking all over the place. I am looking forward to mixing some drywall compound on a project that I have to do next week. This unit should have plenty of power for the job.

This Genesis 1/2″ Spade handle Electric drill is a heavy duty dream. Drills metals, steel, wood, and composites with its high torque, triple gear reduction gear box…. I don’t know what all that means but I do know it delivers power to the drill bit. Three position front handle (top, left or right) and two position spade handle up/down or left right means this heavy, powerful (9 amp motor) is under control for all jobs: from mixing mortar with an auger to drilling holes in stainless steel.

I wasn’t familiar with the Genesis brand but I’m very satisfied with the product. We needed to replace an older spade drill (not the best quality to begin with) and liked the price of this one. We use it predominantly for mixing cement, mortar, grout, etc. and it works wonderfully. It has a lock on the trigger so you don’t have to hold it down while you’re mixing. I especially like that feature because it is a heavy drill and locking the trigger leaves both of my hands free to manage the mixing. My husband and son like it as well, even though they don’t really have trouble managing the drill while mixing. We’ve also used it for drilling through a 6”x6” pressure treated post, using a longer bit, and had no issues with the project. It’s a good drill and the price makes it even better. I have no complaints.

The drill head came off, a screw holding the drill head to the body broke, I still can use the drill, but only in reverse.

Purchased this for my dad at Christmas. I wanted a chuck that used a chuck key to tighten the bit. Also wanted electric for longer use at a time.
