I have not used the Genesis buffer yet but seems better than expected. It has the look and feel of a professional tool.

A lot of construction in our roads has resulted in a few instances of contact with road cones resulting in some unsightly scuffs to my car’s paint job. I decided to buff it out myself to save the cost of a detailer and the variable speed polisher was a great choice. I was able to use it right out of the box, the variable speed is a great feature to ensure a novice like myself doesn’t accidentally burn the paint or scuff it worse than it actually was. It works great, the cost of the tool paid for itself after the first use. now my brother is asking for me to take care of his front bumper cover. Definitely a great tool!

I received my Genesis sander/polisher and opened the box. It is neatly packed and all components were in excellent shape. First thing I noticed was how substantial the unit is, weighing in at about 6 pounds . It feels like a very sturdy tool. I first used it to buff some aluminum wheels and it performed very well. It certainly is handy having the handle that can be moved from side to side or on top of the unit as well. Next I used it to sand a lumber rack and side storage boxes on my truck. Again, no problem for this sander/polisher. Even after extended running time it does not heat up very much and is relatively quiet. I like the feel and handling of the tool and that it will be able to handle any task I may need it for. I would recommend this to anyone needing a good sander/polisher at a very reasonable price.

My 7 inch sander/polisher has only two speeds; fast and faster. A variable speed sander/polisher is what I need for polishing my vehicle, and I did not want to spend a lot of money for a top-line brand. What I decided on is the Genesis GSP1711, 11-Amp 7 inch Variable Speed Sander/Polisher. This is my first Genesis Tool and was naturally skeptical of its quality before receiving it. My findings and recommendations are detailed below. The Genesis GSP1711 Variable Speed Sander/Polisher comes with the tool and accessory kit. The kit includes a 7-inch waffle foam polishing pad, hook and loop backer pad, one 7 inch sanding disc and rubber backing pad, along with a dual position assist handle. It has a powerful 11-amp motor with soft start feature, which is very nice. The trigger has a lock button for extended use, and a dial selector for adjusting the speed from 600-3000 rpm.I used the tool for sanding a mower deck that I’m restoring. I also used the foam polisher for waxing the hood of my car. The tool worked flawlessly. Especially useful is the variable speed dial for applying wax at very low speed. What is obviously lacking is a wool buffing pad. The waffle foam polishing pad is also something that will need replacing very quickly.Overall, the tool itself works well and should last a long time with occasional homeowner use. It’s also a good value. A good wool buffing pad will need to be purchased, along with a tool carrying bag. It comes with a 2-year (non-commercial) warranty.

Very smooth running speed sander. have to admit it was a lot more industrially built than i was anticipating very heavy duty.

I now have several Genesis tools and they all are surprisingly well made for a brand that I had not heard of prior to the past month. My main interest was using this as a polisher but I have tried the sander capability and it cuts into the material quite well. In this case, I used it to round over the end of a 2 x 4 just to test how easy it was to control and I was very happy with that aspect of this tool. I see this unit as something you would use mainly with coarse grits such as 36, 60 and 80 grit. Being left handed I appreciate the fact that the handle can be attached on either side. The motor brushes are easily accessed should they ever need to be replaced. The balance of the unit feels good in my hand as well. The speed control being very easy to reach during use too. It is very simple to change from the sanding backer pad to the hook and loop polishing attachment with the spanner tool provided. As for polishing with this unit,, I just finished power polishing my 16+ year old white BMW and found this to be a great tool for cleaning up and brightening the finish. Despite having cleaned and waxed the car regularly over the years, I found that there was a bit of grey discoloration of the finish when I used this polisher. You could easily tell that the finish was now whiter and more even. I closely followed the maker of the polish’s recommendations for how to do the job. Make sure you just use the weight of the unit and don’t press down on it. There are videos from makers of polish on the Internet that I highly recommend that you view before doing the job. And be sure to use a polish or compound or wax for that matter that is meant to be used with a power polisher. Not all products on the market fit that bill. I didn’t experience any fatigue while doing the job nor did the motor tend to heat up at the speed that I used, which was at about the midpoint of the speed range. The instructions for power polishing online said to start slowly to avoid excessive slinging of polish. This unit has a built-in slow start feature that made doing this an automatic feature. Overall, it is another product well worth your consideration when looking for a sander/polisher. Sorry I couldn’t provide more insight into using it as a heavy sander but it seems quite capable at a good price point for the DIY user.

I’m writing today about the 11- Amp 7 in. Variable Speed Sander / PolisherThis sander / polisher is a very good tool to own. I used this polisher to detail my boat. It did a great job at shinning up my gelcoat on my boat and worked way better than my previous buffer., This unit has all the power you need. It is also designed well with variable speed adjustment and a locking trigger.

In my woodworking past, I have left gouges in a number of pieces where my sander was going too fast when it touched the wood. This sander makes a big difference! The adjustable speed is nice, as I can do some of the fine sanding at a slower speed, and the sander can be touching the wood when I pull the trigger and it doesn’t jump to life and gouge the wood.My only disappointment is that at the lower speeds there is also much lower power. On occasion I would like to have low speed but powerful movement, but at low speed I can stop it with my hand. Perhaps this is a useful feature when polishing. The trigger lock is helpful, so that I don’t have to hold the trigger all the time while using it. The ability to move the handle to the right or left side helps my left-handed spouse use it comfortably as well. The power (at higher speeds) and heft of this are quite nice, and the spindle lock makes changing ends easy.

This Genesis branded variable speed sander/polisher is a well made homeowner grade tool which serves many uses around the home. The kit contains all the accessories and needs just a 7-inch lambs wool bonnet and/or a sanding disc assortment to put the tool into use. Side handle can be installed on either side of the tool making it perfect even if you are left handed. Tool weighs approximately 9 pounds but is well balanced and practically vibration free especially when set on the lower speeds. Variable speed feature makes it perfect to buff/polish my car just before winter. Given reasonable care it should last for many years.

This hefty and very well made 7 inch sander and polisher has great balance and feels comfortable in the hands. Has simple shaft lock AND SAE threaded shaft using a 5/8”-11 thread. I really like the ‘soft start’ feature built into this powerful unit. When I first squeezed the trigger I thought the plug had come out of the wall. It took a second to start and built up slowly (but not too slow) so there was no sudden torque to twist tool in my hand. How fast it builds up to speed depends on your speed setting but even at slowest setting it is only few short seconds, well worth the safety factor. The higher the speed setting the quicker the start but still at max speed there is no start up torquing. The double insulated motor is permanently lubricated at factory. The variable speed is absolute, from 600 RPM to 3000 RPM and anywhere in between. The speed control dial rolls easily with right or left thumb and is numbered for RPM reference but you can easily adjust speed anywhere you need while in use. The trigger lock is on the left side so it is easy for the right hand but is also fairly convenient for the left hand also. This is a powerful tool so be safety conscious around clothing, loose rags and cords.

Works well for the dollar/value or good bang for the buck. The slow start means exactly that but ramps up very quickly. The not so sure about what it says is variable speed. When I see that I’m assuming throttle like or slot car control. Not so. Variable means the same as your wall furnace or ceiling fan, pick one and live with it, there is no ability to instantly control reducing posible damage.

I ordered this sander/polisher online so when it arrived the first thing I noticed as I unpacked the box was the neatness and care it was packaged with. Take it from someone who has worked in shipping products to customers you know when it’s packaged with care. As far as the performance of the tool it does everything I need it to. It is smooth when running, lightweight, and powerful. It converts quickly from a sander to a polisher so it’s ready for any job you throw at it. I would recommend this product.
