A heavy duty 15 Amp motor drives the blade at 4800 RPM for fast, smooth cutting. An oversized 20 in. x 24 in. die cast aluminum table can accept an optional extension table that expands your rip capacity from 9-1/2 in. to 24 in. Your Genesis 10 in. Bought mine about a year ago, so I’ve had some time to really get to know the machine. The first issue is that the fence doesn’t line up with the blade very well. My solution has been to set the far side of the fence the width of the cut, hold it there, then check the front side and make sure it’s in the right spot before fully clamping it down. Doing it this way has allowed me to make repeatable cuts that are good enough for what I’ve need thus far. I would not recommend this saw if you are planning on needing it for very exact cuts, so no advanced cabinetry, picture frame making, or similar projects. I have been able to make drawer frames with it, but it doesn’t cut wide enough for the drawer bottom unless it is less than 10 inches, and even then you won’t be able to use a full sheet of plywood in the cut, you’ll have to use a scrap piece. This table saw is very light and on the stand it is top heavy, so long rip cuts are difficult unless you’ve bolted it to the ground, or you have it in a custom cabinet that has some good weight to it. The miter gauge that comes with it is completely worthless; it’s made using cheap metal and the marked measurements are not accurate, that doesn’t even include the fact that the miter slots aren’t square with the blade, and there is no way that I’ve found to adjust the blade to be square horizontally. The Vertical angle adjustment is just a little lever you pull towards you and then you can adjust the bevel, but the markings on the saw aren’t accurate so you will need a different method to measure the angle.All this being said, for a $180 table saw I’m actually impressed. The motor is stronger than I expected, and has been able to cut through oak and maple without getting too bogged down, though I did these cuts with a much nicer blade than what is provided with the saw, but the one provided is fine for softwoods. The dust collection port on the back also is sized for a small shop vacuum and works just as well as the ones on other saws this size. For your average hobbyist this saw will probably work just fine, but it’s never going to compare to the other saws in it’s category that are twice it’s price, to try and make that comparison is disingenuous.Would I recommend it to one of my friends? It would depend on what they need it for. If it’s just for small weekend projects that don’t really matter then sure, but if they are planning on building stuff professionally then absolutely not. This saw just isn’t accurate enough to use professionally, and the time needed to set up each cut to be close enough for professional work is going to kill your productivity and eat away your time. If you need to use a saw professionally, don’t try and find the cheapest saw that will be good enough, spend the extra $100-$200 and get a saw that is meant for use by contractors like a Dewalt, Ridgid, or Delta.
