If you’re using a 10th gen i9 in this, UPDATE YOUR BIOS IMMEDIATELY! There is a micro code patch for 10th gen systems that Intel released which claims to be for overclockers, but even though I’m not overclocking, it still seems to have fixed my problem. I had some really bad stability issues which honestly didn’t make any sense. The system would sometimes crash when I disconnected a remote desktop session into the box, and if I went into mem test immediately, it’d temporarily spew out errors for several minutes all with the same CPU id. After the system cooled down a bit, it’d stop. Every individual component tests fine in all other cases except for this very specific one. No BSODs, no overclocking of any sort (including xmp profiles), CPU and memory are on the list of approved products on gigabytes website as well… I updated the BIOS a couple days ago and it hasnt crashed since. If it does I’ll edit the review. I deducted a star because this bios patch was released about a year ago and the board didn’t have it preinstalled.

Just built the system with X299X I9 10920 – CPU. This is an expensive board and I am still testing it. It is being used for video editing – Avid Media Composer plus Resolve and Adobe. So far no issues with programs. However cannot get thunderbolt 1 docking station to connect. High Point thinks it might be cable or signal path but they are not positive. So I still do not know if the thunderbolt which is built in the Mother Board is OK or not. Other wise a good motherboard so far – will update the review after several weeks.

It’s been a month or so since I’ve built my new system for video editing and gaming using this motherboard. And since the beginning, one of the sticks out of 4 that is inserted (64gb total) only 48gb is showing. but CPU-Z shows 64gb. but then again, the BIOS only shows 48gb. I had tried a different brand of memory; the same thing. I am not sure if it is the CPU that’s the cause–at least I don’t think so. I have heard and seen issues in forums that this motherboard, in particular, has memory issues. I love the features this motherboard has to offer, but I wish I had a good copy of the product. Since my 30-day b&h warranty is now gone, I will have to try and RMA this motherboard to the manufacturer, so that my money spent on this expensive product is not wasted.
