12 TB and 7200rpm makes this a great drive for video file storage and editing. It’s also quiet.

This is my 4th drive – each time I step up to more storage.

I’m hardly an expert but this thing is fast, faster than any HD I’ve owned in the past. Simply plug it in and it does what it’s designed to do – back up my Mac and save my files. Too early to speak to long term reliability. So far, so good.

I’ve purchased about 5 of these in the last two years, great drives.

Pre-formated for Mac so it worked the minute i turned it on. Simple/easy. Good size for use with FCPX when traveling. Only wish the drive was slightly quieter. Note: While some Glyph units run off USB power alone, the 8TB I bought does requires being plugged into a 120V wall outlet. B&H was great as they have always been for the last 40 years I’ve purchased from them.

I certainly review this product ,email and ask salesman about the features and Down loads on this item, I made an ExceExcerpt choice on the GLYPH 6TB, Which has UNLIMITED storage file. Very please with this unit, Movies, photos ETC Norman

The unit needs to be formatted for use on a pc and you have to correctly identify the drive if you have more than one internal drive connected. Their support page required some digging to find the procedure to format for a pc. This is my second Glyph drive.

While this hard drive is much larger/heavier than I expected (not really a practical if you’re looking for a portable drive), it’s perfect for laptop backup and photo/video storage to free up laptop/portable space. It’s also speedy! Importantly, the Glyph crew offers excellent technical support (these drives are formatted for Mac, and need an extra step to sync with a PC).

i love glyph products but this one seems like an odd compromise for the price point. the drive is very large, requires external power, and is as slow as you’d expect of a 7200rpm drive attached to a SSD system drive. overall it’s like my system runs slower when this is mounted. not the drive’s fault

Great drive, and the price for 18 TB is really a great deal.

I have used the 12TB versions now for a year or so with no issues. Ignoring the bad reviews of the larger drives I went ahead & purchased a couple of 14TG drives – both were bad and behaved exactly as the other reviewers describe. Mounts OK and then repeatedly shuts down after a few mins – while in the middle of saving video files. Looks as if Glyph has manufactured a really bad batch of hard drives – so buyer beware until they get this sorted out. Returned to BH for a refund (thanks).

Great performance and great price.

We have an iMac with a 3TB drive that filled up. We purchased it from the local store, Mac HQ. When I asked for a recommendation on how to address the loss of drive space they recommended 1 Glyph to be an extension of the iMacs hard drive, and another for dedicated backups. This works well… things like iTunes and Movies and barely-used documents stay on the extension Glyph, freeing the iMacs hard drive. Mac HQ recommended setting up Carbon Copy Cloner for the backups and they work nicely with these drives. The 7,200 rpm makes for fast data transfers to and from these Glyph drives. The drives are solid all around… design, feel, actual performance. Thank you, Glyph! MacHQ recommended purchasing from B&H and Im glad they did… the order shipped and arrived quickly. Thanks, B&H!

It was the best thing I bought all summer . It works great . Who could beat the price . The service at B & H was excellent ! It was quick and painless..

I purchased this Glyph drive on the recommendation of B&H. I needed a drive to transition to when I buy a new MAC Computer. This unit is supplied with two connector wires – USB 3.1 and Gen 2 type-C , so I will be all set. I know I will buy adapters, but a direct connection would be the fastest. I will probably buy another one in a few months. One cant have to many backups. It has an on and off switch, and Glyph tech says I can turn on and off at the power strip, just be sure to clear from the computer before shutting down the drive. On last note, I use the drive as an still image archive so speed is not essential and I havent timed write speed. It looks great too!

Its light, sturdy and it works.

Build quality seems great. The unit is somewhat large, but so far it seems to work well. It’s fast and has a usb-c cable so I’m using it w/ my iMac. Not real loud, but still makes some noise (as I’ve gotten used to SSDs.) This seems like a nice holdover until I purchase a housing to build a RAID drive. For now, I use this for my local OneDrive folder that backs up to the cloud.

I needed a compact very large drive for MacBook pros and this drive does well. The advertised thunderbolt compatibility is a bit misleading in that the drive does not have thunderbolt capability. Since all new Mac have thunderbolt 3, they will connect to this drive with no problem using USB-3 speed. (faster than the drive can read or write). Unfortunately this drive cannot be connected to an older Thunderbolt 2 computer using apples, or anyone’s, Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 adapter. I am reduced to using USB-2 to connect this drive to my older Mac Mini and a 3 hour transfer became 3 days. Also since Thunderbolt 3 can supply up to 100 W of power, it would be nice if they made these drives USB powered instead of having to lug around a power brick.

Shuts down constantly. Unable to get data copied coming or going without restarts. Not going to purchase any more enterprise drives,

Performing as expected one week in. This was just a stop-gap until I can get my hands on a multi-drive RAID or NAS system, but great performance and capacity for the money. Crazy rugged seeming too.
