I bought 2 of these for backup and travel drives for a TV show I work with. I noticed some of the bad reviews – about not mounting, etc. – but I’ve had no issues so far (after 3 weeks). I’d say they are a great bargain for the price (BH had them discounted for about $550 each)

Large enough to edit you student projects and strong enough not fail on you while you’re while working. Glyph is an excellent company and BH Photo sold it at a good price.

Bought it to be a Time Machine for old Mac Mini to enable a smooth transition to new Mac Mini. Performance excellent so far.

This is my first 7200rpm drive, and all I can say is that it is FAST! I use it to hold my Final Cut Pro X libraries and I have absolutely no noticeable performance differences than keeping my media on my boot drive. It is noisier (not terribly so, but you will definitely notice it and I wouldn’t recommend it if you were planning on doing any audio recording in the same room) than my portable Western Digital Elements drives, and it does need to be plugged into an AC outlet. But even for those two little things, it is well worth the purchase.

I bought 4 of these. I wanted to use them to work on projects that my assistant editor sets up and I finish. They randomly shut off/eject. Sometimes in the middle of rendering. It’s super awesome. Now I’m just expecting them to corrupt everything in one of these you didn’t eject before you disconnected your drive events, so I had to buy something else to work off of, and I have 4 expensive paperweights just sitting around making me angry.

Have a G Tech for my new iMac and needed to back it up due to the fact that the external is my primary hard drive for my computer. I needed to back up my main external and purchased this one. Connected the USB C to my iMac and wow. Copied and downloaded the files on my existing external and it was super fast. Might get a 2tb to back up the 4 and store it away from home just to be safe. Also love the BandH shipping. Ordered it on Wednesday and was at my door on Thursday.

Well built, and works seamlessly as a network drive attached to my iMa

Been using this and bought one for my mom for her to back up her life. I love how fast it is and for the price, it’s really incredible I got it on sale, too, so if you see it on sale, get it, it’s a no-brainer.

It is alleged that this hard drive is very quiet except for the sound of the disc spinning. NOT TRUE. There is a very distinct and very audible clickety-clack even when the drive is sitting in idle. When the drive is being written to, those clicking sounds are constant and totally aggravating. The Rocstor products blow this one out of the water. Which is too bad, because it has a very nice appearance and seems solidly constructed.

Need more storage and the old drives are just too small The Cupertino fruit vendor charges an arm and a leg for internal storage . The bigger the better on these Ill probably buy a back to back this up and store it at a relatives house just to safgaurd my work

I am using Glyph drives for the past 3 years. This year, I was surprised to see that there was a 12TB drive available. So far, all of the 3 drives that I have, including this one, have been working well. They do make noise (they’re not SSD), but it’s nothing to complain to about, as for the price+reliability they’re great. I know some people might have different opinions about using the drives, but Ike with every piece of computational equipment, one need to take care of it. Make sure to check for errors at least once every two weeks. And make sure to backup crucial files/projects. Going back to Glyph itself, it’s great to see this company produce good hard drives. I’m thinking about buying another 12TB, as of this writing the price is great.

If you are a Mac User this product will serve you well because it’s preformatted for you. However if you are like myself who aren’t users of Mac products then you will be surprised that you’ll have to format it yourself after trying to figure out which drives are allocated for usage in and which aren’t. Outside of that it proves to be very feasible tool to utilize for your photos, videos and documents.

I’ve never had a failure with Glyph. These just plug in and work…and they’re solid.

I like the sturdability of the drive. I have purchased several over the years. It’s convenient for backup ang storing files and video.

Have a number of these and they’re always reliable and high-performance. They’re my go-to for critical back up as well as drives to work from.

Huge amount of space for not much $$$. Looks good and is MUCH quieter than the drive it replaces. Transfer speeds are as advertised. Ask me in a year or three… that will be the real test.

First time buying an external hard drive, and I’m feeling comfortable and confident buying one that has the horse power and can handle a lot. Definitely worth the purchase!
