I loved the idea of these! I edit film, and these are great backups. However, if you are looking to edit off of these, do not purchase. It disconnects consistently, and I can’t get through a project for 10 minutes without the data being lost.

I have 4 Glyph drives, they are great. I just got this one last night and copy my data to it. This particular drive, differently than the other ones I have by Glyph, is making a lot of noise and I am afraid it won’t last. There’s definitely smt wrong with it.

I bought this 12TB to consolidate 3 4TB G-Drives. I use with my Mac Pro, which is USB 3.0 and the included adapter cable works great, I also use with the USB-C cable occasionally with my MacBook Pro. Basically, for the price, the warranty for hardware and data recovery, it’s a winner. Some people complained of noise, the drive vibrates occasionally, but you just need to nudge it slightly, not a big deal. The only feature I wish had was a RAID option, but I back it up to cloud, so I can live without it. I highly recommend it!

I’ve used Glyph HD for the longest time. I love how they work and so far I have no complaints beside perhaps the different cables and different ports I find in every new version..

I have an 8TB @7200RPM from 10 yrs ago and Going string / just opted for a 18TB Enterprize/ which is Fanless. I’ve been a Professional DJ since 1983 – I have accumulated over 14TBs of MP3s My collection of External hard-drives are LaCie / G:Tech / W.D. Transcend & even some Older SeaGates that are still Up -n- Running like new & I mean 20 yrs old. I’ve been shopping @ B&H for Quite sometime / Gr8 customer service dept. Amazon is Good, but when it comes to Professional Products you’re better off with a Reliable & Knowledgeable Dealer. Thank You B&H

On the third day after installing this HD I noticed the HD was making slight buzzing/humming sound. When I place my hand on the HD I can feel a slight vibration. This is not the normal clicking and clacking sounds HD make. I have an older Glyph Blackbox Pro 4TB Enterprise HD and it does not make any buzzing/humming sounds nor does it vibrate. In the four days I have been using this HD I have not experienced any read/write errors. However, I am concerned about the long term reliability of this HD.

I have this drive a couple of weeks and so far it has been very fast. I really like the rubber around it to protect it. Its quite a sleek design. Happy with it.

I immediately transferred 7 TB to the drive and things are working very smoothly. Good integration with my Adobe apps. Happy so far!

It was the best thing I bought all summer . It works great . Who could beat the price . The service at B & H was excellent ! It was quick and painless..

I have RAID systems and have used other backup drives, this is the quietest, fastest waking-up external drive I’ve used. Highly recommended.

The Glyph 4TB Blackbox Pro has been instrumental in helping me seamlessly run the sample for all of my VST’s in protools and Abelton. I’m going to purchase another one real soon. You should too!!!! Thanks B&H!!!!!!!!!

i love glyph products but this one seems like an odd compromise for the price point. the drive is very large, requires external power, and is as slow as you’d expect of a 7200rpm drive attached to a SSD system drive. overall it’s like my system runs slower when this is mounted. not the drive’s fault

Performing as expected one week in. This was just a stop-gap until I can get my hands on a multi-drive RAID or NAS system, but great performance and capacity for the money. Crazy rugged seeming too.

I have a zillion HDs and these are great. Will be buying many more. Speed is comparable to a 2x the price OWC I just bought.

First time buying an external hard drive, and I’m feeling comfortable and confident buying one that has the horse power and can handle a lot. Definitely worth the purchase!

I paid a hundred dollars more for this device just 3 months ago. The device is not a premium device. Customer service is rude when you ask for assistance. They request you send them the answers to 9 technical questions. They request a receipt and other information about the purchase so make sure you have a receipt. I understand this if I needed a repair or replacement but to get any support at all? Nah. So, the device worked very well for about two months. Then it started to be very slow at around 25% capacity. It will never transfer more than 40 Mbs over 3.1 gen 2 and that’s its fastest bus speed. It would have been a better purchase to just buy the equivalent in ssds. If you just need storage there are cheaper solutions with the same reliability. I was stoked it was made in the US. Now I’m disappointed.

I have used Glyph hard drives for many years with my iMacs. Currently, I own about 6 of them to back up my computers and to use as external hard drives for video and file storage. I have found them to be very dependable and at a reasonable cost. I especially like the newer rubberized casings that make them rugged and solidly stackable.

I just purchased a second Glyph Blackbox Pro after seeing good results from my first one. The enclosure is solid and heavy. Seems very rugged. The noise level is the quietest I have experienced in a 7200 rpm external drive available from B&H for this price point. My only complaint is that the power supply and usb cables are too short and do not offer many options for location other than close to the computer and power source.

we’ve been performing checks on two of these and so far they have worked flawlessly. It comes pre-formatted for MAC so it works out of the box with time machine, Xcode, iOS backups, etc. Users can reformat part or all of it for Windows to be used for both Oss. I’m getting real world speeds around 190 MB/s read, 140 MB/s write
