Record music, edit video, or work with files while staying mobile using the StudioRAID mini 8TB 2-Bay USB 3.0 RAID Array (2 x 4TB HDD) from Glyph Technologies. Pre-configured as HFS+ for Mac but also compatible with Windows via a simple reformat, this array connects to your system using its one micro-USB 3.0 port, two FireWire 800 ports, or one eSATA port with data transfer speeds up to 250 MB/s. The StudioRAID mini is equipped with two 2.5″ SATA drive bays and a total capacity of 8TB, which is configured as 2 x 4TB 5400 rpm hard drives.
To help facilitate its functionality within a production environment, the StudioRAID comes pre-configured as a RAID 0, which helps enhance performance by spreading data across two drives and is also compatible with RAID 1, which offers data redundancy. Cooling is accomplished using a temperature-controlled quiet fan and while this RAID array is bus-powered via its FireWire 800 port, an international AC adapter, compatible with US, UK, and EU power sockets, is included. Also included is a USB 3.0 cable and a FireWire cable. The StudioRAID mini is protected by hardware, data recovery, and overnight replacement warranties.

You pay a premium for the small size, but it takes up so little desk real estate, and it’s a great RAID 1 system for keeping my photos safely backed up. I use Windows (rather than Mac), but a quick call to Glyph’s tech support folks was fabulous–he walked me thru the steps to format the drive(s) for Windows, and I was up and running in a couple minutes (NEVER would have figured it out myself from the less than impressive online product manual)

My third glyph mini. Fast reliable, and best bang for your buck. For on the go video work, in hd (multiple streams -I’ve done up to 4 cam) works like a charm. Reasonable price and best warranty on the market.

Fast little drive, but its not really portable since you need to have it plugged into AC when using with a Mac. This is NOT bus powered over USB 3.0 or by firewire on Macs with thunderbolt adapter.

I bought this drive to accompany me on 2 video projects that were out of state. The size was absolutely perfect for my carry on luggage and having a raid 0 option as well as USB 3 made this drive a winner. (see attached photo for size comparison with other glyph drives) I’ll be purchasing more of these for the next travel gig.

I am a sound design and film student in Savannah. I am also a professional DJ, songwriter, and music producer. I have used GLYPH drives in professional studios before and with just cause. So when I came to do sound and film, I knew what I would choose to rely on for storing my files and footage. I run two 2TB Studio Mini hard drives and this StudioRaid Mini 4TB. I use one drive for portable transport of files and data. The second as a stored backup, and the StudioRAID Mini 4TB for sound and film projects at my desk due to drive usage and space. GLYPH drives are extremely reliable and the warranty is amazing. The drives backup internally in order to assure none of your data is lost and can be restored by the GLYPH staff. I love GLYPH drives due to their constant reliability, integrated cooling system, and the integrated backup system. These drives are the best and most of the audio professionals I work with swear by GLYPH, as do I. And the drives run USB 3.0 for ultra-fast connectivity, with e-Sata and Firewire 800 ports for expanded connectivity.
