Wouldn’t ever sync with my devices AND when I Googled them for tech support,”the word on the street” is that Gnarboxleadership has abandoned the company and it is likely to go out of business soon! Really,B&H??

Works for my needs for a backup while traveling without a laptop. A small price for peace of mind!

You could also write a book on a flip phone, basically what all the features of this thing says. Just cause it can, doesnt mean you would/could ever have the time to do it. If you are looking for backup, just buy a usb hub, small adapter and plug your phone into your sd card and an external hard drive. Way easier, save your money on this unnecessary device.

The company has apparently ceased business operations and removed their app from the iOS app store as of mid-December 2021.

While on location, I connected the Gnarbox to power through its USB port, and proceed to backup files directly from an SD card to an external HDD. Regardless of the drive, this will fail. Theres a voltage design flaw that will make your transfer fail while the unit is connected to power. I confirmed this with Gnarboxs customer support. Its also listed on their troubleshooting guide. Theres no solution at hand. You can only do this while running on Gnarboxs internal battery which is not big enough to transfer files from multiple/large cards. I wanted to love this thing, but its not a good option for backups on the go.

unit works great for dumping off cards at a large shoot. used in when shooting multiple bands, was able to dump down cards to the drive and keep shooting. phone interface is good as well, wish i could do more than basic color correction to photos, but love that you can transfer a raw image as .jpg to phone for social posting while on site. nice feature. once back to edit, you place the unit in mass storage mode and it shows up as a drive. copied the files over and off to edit. exactly what i needed, battery life seems good, rugged case and well designed.
