The Google Nest Wifi Router supports Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) and is more powerful than its predecessor, Google Wifi, delivering up to two times the speed and up to 25 percent better coverage. The Nest Wifi point allows for whole-home coverage and the system is scalable, allowing you to add more points in the future. The Nest Wifi system can handle multiple 4K video streams at the same time. The Nest Wifi system also supports proactive band steering, a self-healing network, and transmit beamforming. The router features the Snow color.
The Nest Wifi router can cover up to 2200 square feet and supports 4×4 MU-MIMO. The router also has dual Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 jacks.
Google built the Nest Wifi system to provide the foundation for your future smart-home devices. It has local home connectivity, allowing some devices to connect directly to the system without a hub. Use the Google Home app for a simple setup and controls.

The setup was straightforward and took just a few minutes. The wifi range and speed have been great.

I saved some money and bought the refurbished model. The router and 2 extenders installed easily and initially seemed to work well, but they disconnect multiple times per day. I received a vague email from google that said they believe my router has a problem and a form to fill out to receive a replacement. That was a week ago, and I have no idea if a replacement has shipped or when I might receive the new router. Considering just returning the set and selecting another product.

I replaced an ASUS router with two of these for a mesh network. Performance is sub-par, computer freezes up, video is jumpy and laggy, hinder streaming constantly pauses and shows loading circle…. After two weeks of this, I’m back to my ASUS, and everything is smooth and fast.

This device is great. The only reason it will be getting 4 stars is because it lacks the ability to designate a frequency. I have some devices that work better on 5 ghz than 2.4. Without the ability to lock a device to either frequency, I’m losing some functionality on some of my devices. Other than that excellent product.

Uses to have a Linksys mesh wi-fi, replaced it because some devices would not connect to it. Since I installed this, no problems whatsoever! Covers a two story house easily.

I’m still trying to love this but my fire stick and iPhones don’t seem to like it.

I’m not sure why but it worked fine for awhile and now I randomly will get extremely slow speeds on all wireless devices every 24-48hr and have to reset the whole network. I’ve factory reseted multiple times too and have both the Google wifi and nest wifi. When the wifi isn’t going slow it’s fine.

The router was easy to hook up and use. The signal strength is decent. It seems to manage all devices I have connected at my house. I think it’s cool that you can get more access hubs to place around your house. I think I’m going to do that for outside. I haven’t noticed any connection issues which is also a plus. I think the unit itself looks really cool and my son wants to keep it in his room.

Kept having intermittent drops in WiFi service randomly throughout the day. Came from an Orbi with two satellites and this was worse performance. Troubleshooted with google tech support for 90 min and they could not resolve. I get 400 mbps download service and the max google home got was 170, complete disappointment. Returned and got the nighthawk mesh system which was way better.

Inconsistent performance across the units. would not recommend the product

Bought this a few months ago but keeps failing. Tech support fortunately is helpful but who wants a router that’s constantly fails

Works great, I wish I had made this change years ago!

Easy to set up, love the seamless connections, and love the parental controls. I have one issue to speak of, and that’s why I only rated four stars. Google says that I only needed the router and two mesh points for my size house. The access point in the basement is not as well connected as the one up on the second floor. If one was to measure the distance between points it would be no more than about 50 ft in a straight line between each. The coverage is ample but just a little upset about the lower connectivity of the basement access point.

As it turns out, Nest Wifi doesn’t do well when the house walls are plaster. Since Nest Wifi decided to ditch ethernet ports on their Mesh points, it becomes a less than useful system. Do I recommend it?…Does it work?….If you have drywall as your home walls it probably does alright. But, for me it is useless. I also didn’t set it up right away and am now past the return period.

Sucks unless you have dish network. This product does not work with direct tv

I will no longer be tied to a internet service provider and their wifi device. With my own modem and Nest Wifi , I have far better wifi EVERYWHERE in my house and on my property. In my opinion the wifi provided from the nest is faster, and more reliable than anything i have ever used

I’ve had the Nest wifi for over a year and it’s been pretty steady with the occasional hiccup needing a hard reset. I’d say if you want a solid product that has a smart speaker then this is your mesh system. If you don’t need the smart speaker features check other products out as there are so many that edge this out as far as networking performance goes.

I bought this just to use as a single router but I will probably add another and create a mesh network. Setup is simple, the app walks you through it. The wifi range is great, I have full signal through my home. It looks great too. Simple and small and it fits in my entertainment cabinet just fine. I’m glad I got this router over the others I was considering.

We no longer lose a signal in the house and we have music capability all through the house. The setup is easy and the signal strength always consistent (2 years use). My wife never loses her video calls anymore and we can have endless devices streaming endless data.

The hardware is pretty good. I get better coverage than with other routers, and a mesh network is a game changer. Way better than extenders. Nest Wifi is a let down when it comes to the software. You can only use a mobile device to set it up. There’s no login page for the device itself. Most of the features of the wifi app have been moved into the Google home app. This is fine, but it rarely works correctly. If you need to do anything beyond connecting devices, you may be out of luck. Opening the firewall or forwarding ports may take many tries over separate days until it’s persisted.
