This is an older device and doesn’t work as well as the newer devices. Its great as a backup device though.

This little guy has worked wonders for our multi-level home! Our modem is on the main level and the google extender is on the top level. Wifi is great in every single room. If you have a multi level or spacious home i suggest you try one!

I live in a two-story home, and we were having intermittent internet issues. Zoom calls would drop all of the time. I read about Google’s three-pod WiFi system, and it sounded like a good fit for us. It is impressive, and I would have done it sooner had I known it existed. The cable company suggested increasing the speed, which would have cost more money, but the internet speed was not the problem. Their WiFi unit can only go so far away from the source, so having the Google WiFi system allows you to encompass three areas under one. I love it, and I would recommend it.

I’ve been using Google Wifi for years, and for the most part have been happy with the system, even to the point of convincing friends / relatives to switch to it. The only major issue I had was with Stadia, where input latency with the controller became a major issue. Upgrading to the Nest Wifi router solved this problem (but led to other issues… see my Nest Wifi review). My other major complaint with Google Wifi was the forced move into the Google Home app vs the dedicated Google Wifi app. From my perspective this was a major step backwards in terms of usability. I understand why this was done, but it makes for a worse experience. I really wish that Google would stop “shipping its org structure”, and instead commit to making excellent, supported user experiences.Due to this and other issues, I’ve since switched to the Asus Zenwifi system (recommended by The Wirecutter), and am much happier!

Very easy to set up and use, with quite good performance. For reference, my house is 3 levels, with lots of thick wood/steel to block signals. 1 base unit and 2 mesh repeaters work great, no dead spots anywhere in the house. But, the software is a too basic. Extremely limited port forwarding and other “advanced” functionality. If you’re a basic user, it should be perfect. Otherwise, steer away.

The wifi pucks have to be only 10 feet away from each to fill chiton property… there distance as advertised, is not accurate.

I purchase the 3 pack for my 2 story 1500 town-home with attached garage. I later added 2 more bases. after setting it up in our 2nd floor den everywhere in the home got lets say decent service. the garage got a full bar signal but would never work. over the course of a year i have moved them about a dozen times. I have reset the wifi probably about 50 times because it just drops out. wifi calling works then doesnt. the garage, even with a base installed right in the center, has no wifi. Ive tried hardwiring some, ive tried 2 in one room, ive placed the first in the garage, ive place the last in the garage, ive placed one in the attic across a walls width from the first. Nothing. Im sorry, this is crap. ive following every suggestion put out there. goggles help sucks. once u buy it, your on your own. what ever happened to manual? online help is from other users, and some guy who says hes an expert. going back to old school router style. mesh nest sucks.

Received this as a trial offer. We had problems getting WIFI to the third floor and thought that this would help. We hooked it up and it bumped it up maybe one bar. What I did notice that the speed dropped a bit when we plugged it in over all on the other two computers. We ended up running a new line to the third floor and adding a router, which handle everything. I am sure this devise works, but in our application it didn’t make much of a change.

Google wifi won’t connect to my Comcast. it continues to disconnect from my Google phone.

I have a 4 bed 3 bath home with 3 adults that work from home. We can all do voip and video calls as well as stream from anywhere in the house without interruption. I have 5 of these devices on my mesh between two floors.

I just recently installed the Google Wifi in my house upgrading from an ATT router. The difference is amazing. Excellent connection over the entire house. Much faster than the ATT router. Very easy to setup.

Have had these now for 3 years, I keep adding points in my house for better coverage. 2800sqft home, 2 story, covered patio, backyard, I have 6 and a strong signal.

When your wifi is your lifeline for work, smart home workflows you depend upon for security reasons among others releasing a broken update and application is a total deal breaker! I switched to a Netgear mesh the next day after your horrific sunset process executed on the old app and switch to the all in one google home app.

Mesh router systems are great, but this is among the worst of them.

Great mesh – I would give it 5 stars if I could only change the 5G channel.I have a wireless device that makes the upper channels unusable – so I my wifi devices just use the 2.4g band.It would be an easy fix – just a choice between upper and lower bands to keep it simple. I know in non US countries they use the lower channels.

Honestly, I’ve not seen any other seamless and fast whole home wifi service in years compared to my google WiFi. Bravo for really raising the bar on this
Cody Prohaska (verified owner) –
I love them, I have been using them for years, even converted some people over who thought the nighthawk router was primo. This is the best for any connections in storied homes
Sabryna Durgan (verified owner) –
Excellent performance throughout the house. A reasonable costs and very easy to install. I recommend this product.

I’ve used the product for a couple of years until recently. The move from the WiFi app to Google home lost functionality in the port forwarding. I had a node recently get fried in a storm. This led to a factory reset of the two remaining nodes only to find out the app wouldn’t allow me to recreate my forwarding rules. I loved it before the forced migration to the new app
