- The shaved ice machine is conveniently equipped with a removable shield for added safety while in use.

Steep learning curve on getting ice blocks to freeze without cracking and then figuring out the temper of the ice, and how much to shave to get a good snow. Seems like the pressure coming down in the ice is inconsistent. Came with shield. Get a foot pedal

Don’t waste your money on a cheaper model. This is top quality. It makes that highly desired shaved ice. Makes the best snow cones as well as the occasional adult margaritas. Since owning it I’ve convinced 4 others to buy one just by letting them try the results.Word of warning though…it will throw the ice if it happens to crack upon placing the ice block on the warmer plate (happened to me twice). There is no guard to block the ice from getting slung towards the operator or eager taste tester. Therefore, keep children away for safety. Also, this is a fairly large item (as it is commercial quality) so it’s best to have a sturdy place to put it. If the ice block is slightly off center it will try to walk around on you.This is much cheaper and healthier than ice cream. The kids and adults alike will love this on those hot summer days. Home Depot had the lowest price I could find for this model. I had it shipped for free to the local store. That way I could inspect it for any damages before I left the store vs trusting the postal service to get it to my doorstep without damage.

It’s pretty amazing what you get for ~$200. The shaver has been a lot of fun and has been enjoyed by many neighbors and kids.Mine did come with a shield. I’d be surprised if they could sell it without a shield because of safety issues.
