The tail stock and head stock move slightly during operation no matter how much you tighten the lock mechanism, the cast iron banjo broke within one month of use, the tail stock design was poorly done, the problem is the base of the stock sits forward of the quill making it very difficult to use the head, tail and tool rest at the same time and making matters worse the quill extends only so far which is not far enough to compensate for the tail base, The lathe is fairly quiet, the HP can turn and handle fairly large load, for the price I do enjoy my lathe and am able to work around all the hiccups that it has in design.

Liking it allot, only one glitch, the tail stock foot is too long and interferes with the tool rest bracket. Other than that, I am satisfied.

This product was superbly packaged. I was so impressed with the quality and superiority! I have used this lathe several times now and I would buy it again! I highly recommend this lathe!

When trying to lock in the tailstock to keep a project centered, I have had some problems. With the tailstock locked tight and turning the wheel the tailstock slides back with little pressure. So I called Grizzly’s techsupport number. I was referred to page 40 showing the locking parts of the tailstock assembly. I did what the tech person suggested. Still same results. So I am using the lathe as it is. However, while turning 12 inch long three inch in diameter limbs, that mother nature does not always grow straight or round, the lathe vibrates the tailstock loss and will let the wood spin on the spur center. I had an old craftsman, that I wore out, and never had this type of problem. I know at 85 I may not on the first try tighten the tailstock as it should, but with this problem, I make sure the tailstock is very tight the first time and the tailstock still vibrates loose. It is something I will just have to live with.I do like the speed control and the speed readout. I have had problems getting used to the tool rest setup.
