Bought in case of emergency on a boat, to cut rigging loose in case of a dismasting so, as you might imagine, I hope I never use them. They do look well made & like they would do the job.

I have not used mine yet, but I saw the same pair at a store where I was getting wire rope. I snipped a piece of the wire with those, and they were excellent. The store did not sell the cutter, so I fond them online. Great cutters.

This product does exactly what its supposed to do and it does it very well! I purchased this for cutting heavy duty steel cable for weight equipment, and where all other cable cutters failed, this one worked perfectly! Perfect cuts, easy to use, and i can tell it will last me many, many cuts. Probably wont ever have to buy another set of cable cutters again.

I should have ordered this cutter initially. Cuts 3/16″ S.S.wire rope like butter. Smaller version cut the wire rope but with a lot of force.

We use these for removal of steel cable security seals. They are definitely not bolt cutters but cut steel cable quite efficiently. They perform very well and can usually be resharpened a few times to extend life.

I’ve only had the cable cutter long enough to use it twice and it worked great. Well constructed, sturdy tool and priced right.

I recently upgraded my motorhome’s inverter, going from a failed 2000 watt unit from 2004 to a new 3000 watt unit. One of the requirements of the upgrade was to replace the existing 1/0 and 2/0 cables with 4/0 cables. I had looked at other cable cutters and read reviews and decided that to deal with cables that large I needed something serious and bought these from Home Depot. I ended up having to cut nine cables from two 25 foot lengths of 4/0, and from the first cut I was glad I chose the H.K. Porter cable cutter. Even with their long handles, I still had to place one handle on the ground or against my thigh and push with both hands on the other handle. Not sure, nor do I care, if that reflects on my strength or the formidable size of pure copper 4/0 cables. I never gave a single thought about the possibility of these cutters being damaged. No flex or other hint of being pushed anywhere close to their limit. I could not have done the job as easily nor efficiently without the H. K. Porter cable cutters.

I needed to cut some 3/8″ ID braided stainless Teflon hose. I bought this cutter after I purchasing a smaller one-handed “high leverage” cutter by Klein. The Klein worked ok, but given that I needed to make multiple cuts I wasn’t sure that I wanted to continue with the Klein’s. After browsing thru many reviews, I found these H&K’s. One review said they cut thru wire, etc like butter. I wouldn’t exactly say that, but they definitely had more leverage than the one-hand Klein’s. Really the two are not comparable, but the H&K’s definitely made the job easier, and seemed unaffected after many cuts. I would recommend…

The H. K. porter tool cut the 3/16″ wire rope that I use to guy my radio antenna tower. Sure beats the welding torch that I used to cut the guys on first installation.

For price, extremely high quality construction. Cut 5/16 inch winch cable smoothly without threads or chards. Made 4 cuts and seems cutting edges remain sharp. No mechanical advantage, so needs a strong operator. Met expectations.

Sturdy, seemingly well designed tool made in Japan.
