The H.K. Porter 9-1/2 in. Compact Cable Cutters are great for cutting electrical cables. They feature a compact design that fits in most tool pouches. They also feature high-leverage jaws with shear-cut blades for effective cutting, but the cutters should not be used to cut ACSR conductors.
- Head has high-leverage jaws
- Non-slip cushion grips for control
- Not an insulated tool
- Product is able to withstand wear, pressure or damage
- Dependable in achievement
- Good in quality
- Note: product may vary by store

This cable cutter won’t do everything a common diagonal pliers will do, but it is great for cutting cables of many sizes. It won’t cut a 6-gauge Romex (4 cables), but it does short work on the individual cables in the romex — much easier than anything else I’ve ever used. It is a very useful item if you have large cables. It cuts 12-2 Romex like butter.

The cutters worked very well. I think that if the handles were a little longer, it would have provided more leverage to cut through the material I needed to cut.

My primary purpose in buying this was to cut thick sisal rope that I was using to rewrap a cat tree. All of the other cutting implements I had made a mess of it, but these cable cutters cleanly and squarely sliced through the sisal. The blades are sharp and the tool as a whole is rugged.

Bought this to cut “cattle fence” panels. After fighting about 2 minutes, I managed to make ONE cut, and the cutters were damaged. Ended up just buying 24” bolt cutters. That did the trick.

This worked great to cut through 12 gage cable for 240V.Of course I only made 3 cuts and those were like butter. But I will not be able to comment on long-term use.

These are great cable cutters. I use them all the time in the installation of ceiling and wall lights, ceiling fans, switches, outlets and all kind of electrical projects. They are great for light wiring up to 3 and 4 gauge wires. They are light weight and durable. I needed a second pair for my businesses. I had one set that I have had for about 10 years and are still going strong. I need 2 so that 2 workers can use them at the same time.

I bought this with knowledge it is meant to cut copper and aluminum electrical cable. But it cuts small diameter steel cable also very nicely.

I bought this to cut the cable locks used on semi trailers. They work ok but lose their cutting ability after a few uses. They are not really made for this but when I cut some coaxile cable at home, they worked perfectly. They make a tool for what I needed but it was over twice the price so I just decided to use this instead.
