Yes, it heats water and shuts off when the water is boiling. No, it doesn’t keep the water warm, like a low burner, if that’s what you’re looking for. I wish it were insulated. It looks like a thermos, but it isn’t. The walls are only one layer. I wish it had a flap to cover the spout and keep heat in.

Stainless is nice to match other appliances. Works great. Cordless is convenient.The only odd thing is that the switch to start the kettle is to pull up (was counterintuitive initially).I would definitely recommend.

This kettle replaced a Hamilton Beach kettle that was basically the same and had given us good service. We like this one even better. The measurement window is easy to read whether checking quantity or filling the kettle. When the water is hot, the indicator light goes out and there’s a ‘click’ sound from the switch turn-off, which is convenient. It may even heat just a little faster than the other kettle. Also, the kettle is attractive and fits in with other appliances in our kitchen. The kettle is perhaps a little heavier than the other kettle, but not significantly so. After about a month of use, we’re very happy with it.

A great electric kettle! My wife kept forgetting to turn off our old tea kettle when heating up water on the stove. The Hamilton Beach kettle solved that problem and turns off automatically. It also heats the water up quicker than the stove or micrkwave. It really works as advertised.
