Built with four 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A ports, each of which has its own dedicated controller, the RocketU 1344A 4-Port USB 3.1 Gen 2 PCIe 3.0 x4 HBA Controller Card from HighPoint allows users to connect four USB 3.1 Gen 2, USB 3.1 Gen 1, USB 2.0, and USB 1.0 devices to their compatible Windows 8 and later, Mac OS X 10.9 and later, or Linux system using a PCIe 3.0 x4 slot. A number of USB cards I’ve tried have had trouble sustaining USB 3 speeds for my logitech StreamCam, either directly or through various powered Anker USB 3.0 hubs. I thought this highly-rated card would be the solution, but I can only get USB 2.0 speeds out of it with my camera, so no 1080p 30fps in YUV4:2:2 mode or 1080p 60fps mjpeg. This card does go faster with a USB 3.0 Samsung SSD that I have, so maybe the StreamCam is just a finicky device, though the HighPoint is still slightly slower than the USB ports built-into my motherboard (384 MB/s vs. 411 MB/s). Note that I don’t have any proper USB 3.1Gen2 devices to test with, and it could be that my problems are with OS or hardware compatibility (running linux 5.6.11 on an AsRock EPYCD8-2T motherboard). The RocketU has two ASM2142 dual-channel controllers, which don’t seem to work well in my machine (though I also have an Ableconn PU31-2C-2 with a single ASM2142 that at least works sometimes). Basically, if you use linux, I would recommend the cheaper USB3.1Gen1 StarTech PEXUSB3S44V (but only that exact StarTech Model, which has 4 Renesas uPD720202 controllers on board). Even though the RocketU has better specs at 10Gbps/channel, in practice only the StarTech reliably exceeds 480Mbps with my StreamCam.

Just snap it into place. It works great. I have 3 of the 4 ports in use already and they work great.

Bought this card to replace the other USB card which went bad. So far so good! Plug & play, speed of transfer is good specially with faster cards. Bluetooth interference in my is not an issue since I have extended the Bluetooth antenna on my Mac Pro 2012. You still need to eject the card before Mac goes to sleep otherwise you get the error massage. No other issues I have encountered so far.

Easy installation, no problems plug and play. Each port is self powered so you can use devices that require more power. I used it to upgrade a older computer, NEF files are not getting any smaller.
