I like this reciprocating saw a lot. I don’t have many Hilti products but they are known for quality and performance. This reciprocating saw is no exception. The first thing that caught my attention is how light it is, maybe two or three pounds lighter than the top-of-the-line “red” brand I already use. That makes it a lot easier to hold overhead, which happens often and makes it much easier to do continuously. It is easy to use and the blade change is unique, where you press a button to push the blade in when empty and it locks then push the button back to unlock, then to remove a blade you push the unlock button and twist the chuck. It’s different but in my experience all reciprocating saws suffer from blade change issues from stress and debris entering the chuck. Just off the bat it seems sturdy enough. Another thing I like is the trigger and handle which can be used with either one finger or two, (I have average-sized hands) which is nice because I like to use one finger to run the saw for a second or two at a time, but two fingers hold it down easier for continuous use. I know that is a small detail and maybe not even one envisioned by Hilti but lots of small great features make for a good tool. As far as the performance goes the 9A motor feels more powerful than other brands of similar amperage because it is a higher quality tool of better materials and when paired with appropriate and sharp blades (makes all the difference) it will cut quickly. The only downsides are that it does not offer an orbital setting and does not come with a case or bag. Otherwise if you need a basic reciprocating saw that is high quality this is it.

When you choose this saw the price may give you pause. But, consider that this saw is HEAVY DUTY, and it has a 20-year warranty! This are the kind of tool that you can pass down to your son, or daughter, and they can pass it down to their children. It saws through old-school 3/8” sill fasteners, and 1” ID black pipe with ease! It also has a ladder hook on its side, so you can easily hook it on your ladder, cart, or whatever, while you prepare the next cut. Buy this and you may never go back to yellow!

I have never owned a reciprocating saw before but I really like owning one. I recently put up new fencing and this saw came in very handy cutting up all the old stockade fencing. My town requires small bundling of this type of stuff so this saw served it’s purpose. It is pretty lightweight but powerful. I accidently cut through some screws without a problem. Blade changing is very easy but I have nothing to compare it to. Overall this is quite a useful tool and I am happy with it’s performance.
