I have never used a laser range meter before and was always stuck trying to hold the tape measure by myself and add up the distances in my head, but this device is great! It’s very easy to use and measures in both inches and meters. It has a belt clip on the back which makes it easy to find when you really need it. The best part is that it saves the last measurement for you so that you can measure a room and get the length and the width on one little screen.

Great tool. Met my expectations.

The is but very well. Even the case it comes with is thick and the belt clip is thick steel. It is light and dead on accurate. I tested it at several distances up to 25 feet and it was spot on every time. It can go significantly longer than that. I do some woodworking, some cabinet building and other carpentry, it has come in handy. I do not have to break out the tape measure to try and get into corners or cabinets to get inside measurements trying to angle my tape measure to get it into the spot. Now I just drop the PD-S in there and hit the button. I did not expect this to be what I use it for most but I keep it in the tool bag and find myself breaking it out in tight spots. Pro: small and easy to use, just the right amount of information. It is not complicated or full of menu options. Quick readout. Great features like square footage, constant calculation, multiple measurement types.Well built with rubber molding. I have dropped it several times, once from about 8 feet and nothing happen to it. I won’t make this a habit but it was nice to see. Cons: I did not get it sooner. It did not come with instructions. It has a quick card that did little to nothing for me. It has a bunch of pictures and that did not work for me. I looked up the instructions and it was much better. Once I read the one page that covers how to use it it was very easy. The little quick guide would make sense if it was small enough to go into the pouch but it is not. I would just lose it in my garage or the back of my truck. no need for the quick guide, give me the instructions.

My opinion is based on a “do it yourselfer” perspective. This laser range meter has limited uses for ordinary “around the home” projects. It is a quality tool but appears to be better suited for professionals doing measurements outside of the scope of the familiar retractable tape measure. It is convenient and accurate for measuring long, high or far distant spaces. For example, the distance between the floor and the ceiling or some high point of the ceiling. I have used this laser meter where a standard tape measure could have been used but the distance exceeded 30 feet (the length of the manual tape measure) and multiple manual measurements would have to be taken. The tool has the capability of doing “area” calculations (length times width) but I just could not get that function to work. That is probably my shortcoming and not the tool, but it should not be that difficult. I don’t plan on giving up my retractable tape measure for most measuring tasks, but this may come in handy for the out of the ordinary tasks. It is probably suited more for professional tradesmen.
