Overall, it is a very nice tool and will be used often for drilling / screwing when larger screws are needed.Pros:2 batteriesLights to indicate charge level on batteriesLight weight and feels good in the handPadded balance bar is good and easy to take on / off or change sides when neededCarrying case was a nice unexpected bonusCons:Charger only charges one battery at a time. Means you have to have change batteries to get both changed when not in use.Instructions on how to attach balance bar should have some text to explain. Not intuitive from pictures. On many drills, there are a couple of clips to hold attachments (flat head and Phillips head). This does not have that and would be a nice addition.

This is a professional quality tool that came as part of a very complete kit. Its performance is rock solid and the ergonomics are really excellent. Hilti has included just about everything you would want in this kit, including 2 long lasting 5.2AH 22V batteries, charger, a fantastic carrying case and a side handle. It has the best warranty I’ve seen in power tools with a 2 year no cost replacement including wear and tear, which is something I’ve not seen on any other drill. That said, this unit is really tough, so I am not expecting to need to use the warranty. It is well protected by a durable rubber material in key locations where a fall might damage it, including on the battery. Unlike most of the other cordless drill I’ve owned, the bottom has a rubber border as well which allows it to stand and not slide in most normal use areas. Further, the 22V battery can be interchanged with Hilti’s 18V batteries, so if you have other Hilti tools, that may save some cost. Hilti, based in Lichtenstein, is known for quality. All the parts in this kit are actually manufactured in China, but that does not diminish the quality in any way. The quality is top shelf throughout. This impact hammer drill unit has a 1/2″ keyless chuck which I’m finding less and less common in the market for hammer drills. Many others now seem to have gone back to Keyed chucks, perhaps due to issues with not being able to grip the bits when in impact mode. I did not find that to occur with this unit at all. The variable speed is very easy to precisely control. The chuck has a unique grip pattern that really holds not just large bits, but small ones as well. The drill has 2 speeds which is handy when switching from impact drilling to screw-driving. It is very nicely geared, producing a great deal of torque, which is really helpful when working on a ladder and not being able to apply a lot of force behind the tool. One of its most unique features is the Active Torque Control (ATC) which automatically shuts the motor off if the unit bites something hard and rotates rapidly in your hand. I found this very handy with spade bits and large hole saws. It still works fine when slowly rotating the drill in normal use. From an ergonomic perspective, this compact unit feels very solid, but is not heavy for a professional quality tool. You can readily switch from forward to reverse and back with your hand still firmly gripping the handle. The LED can be triggered without engaging the motor and stays on for 10 seconds. The electronic clutch did seem to produce some minor noises when stopping a large, heavy bit, like a 5 inch hole saw, but is showed no sign of damage or wear.As an impact tool, it performed really well. It quickly went through concrete blocks and poured concrete with minimal effort, limited noise and little hand vibration, even with large 1/2″ and 3/4″ diameter 13″ long bits. The soft case that comes with it is very large and like everything else Hilti supplied, sturdy and well thought out. I put 41 lbs. of tools (see picture) including the drill, another corded drill, the 2 batteries, the charger, side handles for both drills, a hole saw set, two drill indexes, a spade bit set and a half dozen 13″ masonry bits. The 13″ bits even fit in the handy pouch on the front of the soft case. With its adjustable strap it’s easy to carry to the job site and way more convenient than the plastic cases many of the units come with.Using this tool, I found myself comparing it to corded drills in its performance and power. The only cons I found was that there is no place to attach a depth gauge which is handy when setting anchors in concrete, so I’d like to see that feature added. The LED could have been a bit brighter as well.. All in all, this hammer drill is truly impressive, especially for a cordless. It is priced like a real professional tool, but worth every penny. If you want a heavy duty tool with professional features, and a truly impressive warranty, this is a very good choice. I highly recommend it.

The drill comes with two batteries, a charger, handle, drill, and a very nice heavy duty bag. I almost prefer the bag over hard cases. It is nice to be able to use with other tools in addition to the drill. The drill itself is one powerful drill. It has 15 different torque settings along with a drill mode and Hammer Drill mode. The drill has two different gear settings. (1 and 2) The drill has a battery indicating light. The one nice feature with this drill over other drills that I have owned is that it has a chuck with a higher clamping range which is nice for larger drill bits. The drill itself has a rubberized feel on the battery which is great for protecting surfaces that the drill is placed on. For the weight of drill, it has a very balanced feel while using which helps control fatigue. I would strongly recommend this product to anyone looking for one work horse of a drill.

This is a fantastic drill — comfortable in the hand, very well-behaved, obviously well made, not overly large or heavy, metal chuck and gearing, good torque, good battery life, and some really innovative, well thought-out safety and usability features. Factor in the class-leading warranty and the very nice kit it comes with (two high-capacity batteries, charger, and sturdy tool bag) and it more than justifies the premium price. Hilti has a well-deserved reputation for quality and support, and if you make a living with your tools especially, you owe it to yourself to check it out.PROS* Class-leading warranty (2-yr. no cost + 20-yr. limited) and top-notch build quality* Great ergonomics, reasonably compact and light for a drill of this class (see the photo, comparing it to the Milwaukee M12 Fuel hammer drill)* An electronic clutch stops the motor if the bit binds and the drill torques in your hands — a great safety feature, especially if you’re on a ladder* Refined handling — hard to describe, but when you pull the trigger the power takes a split second to ramp up, rather than jolting to full speed instantly* LED light positioned (very smartly) above the battery mount rather than behind the chuck; even working above your head and supporting the drill with your hand under the body doesn’t obstruct the light* All metal chuck and internal gearing* Fast charging — from one indicator light blinking to full charge in just a bit over an hour, pretty impressive for a battery of this size* Fully adjustable side handle, 180-plus degree articulation* New 22-volt batteries are backward compatible with Hilti’s 18-volt toolsThis isn’t brushless, so torque, speed, and battery life numbers aren’t off the charts, but I’ve used this to break loose rusted bolts on a mower, mount 3/8 in. sleeve anchors in brickwork, and drive a 1 in. spade bit through a 4×4, all without the slightest hesitation from the motor. And after two weekends of use, the battery still shows three bars of charge. This is probably more drill than I need, but now that I’ve used it, you’d have a hard time convincing me to give it up. Highly recommended.

I like the size and battery life on this drill but I regret not going for the bigger stronger model….this one only has two speeds…..I needed more….
