   We had an old inflatable shaking snowman that stopped working last year, so we were looking to replace with another shaking in the cold (in the Texas heat) for the upcoming Winder Break. We have about twenty inflatables and needed another. This one inflates in under a minute and has a good shake. The unit has one of the low voltage 12V dongle transformers that is a bit finicky and we have found needs some water proofing against rain (ziplock bag works). Would prefer if came with the more weatherproof robust 120VAC motor and lights.

   It’s a nice sized inflatable and makes everyone chuckle when they see him shivering and claiming a BRAIN FREEZE. Easy to assemble and put on display.

   I received this 6 foot tall inflatable Shivering Snowman winter holiday decoration in August. I have only tried it out once so far for the purpose of this review. It is easy enough to inflate, just plug it in and It self inflates in a minute or so. There’s a small fan on the bottom back of the snowman along with a zipper which should be closed when inflating. Also on the bottom you’ll find two small weighted bags, filled with small rocks it appears, to give the snowman more stability. The snowman also lights up with a couple of small LED lights inside, which I think are not replaceable. This snowman is extra cute because it holds an ice cream cone with sprinkles in one hand and its head with the other hand, and it ‘shivers’. The sweater says “Brain Freeze.” It comes with additional ‘tethers’ in the form of several long black cords with clips that clip onto fabric loops on the snowman and onto thin metal ground stakes. In my experience with other inflatables, you will need these as decorative inflatables are very lightweight and tend to blow over or blow away in even a mild breeze. The durability of this item remains to be seen. It’s made, like most decorative inflatables, from, I believe, nylon. In my experience with another inflatable, even if gets rained on when lying in a deflated heap in your yard during the day, this doesn’t seem to affect the fan (as long as it’s not exposed) and it will still inflate. I’m not sure how this snowman will hold up in case it snows or in freezing conditions. Of course, you could also put it up inside and then you won’t have these problems to deal with. 🙂

   I have bought a number of these inflatables over the years. Overall I like the product. They are cost effective for the year or two you get out of them, and the kids love them. The one problem I have found is that no matter which inflatable you buy, the stakes are all the same (6″ metal stakes). The shaking snowman is about 6′ tall, and we have had some windy days recently. When the wind catches him, he flies like a kite and yanks the stakes right out of the ground. I solved the problem by getting some helical anchors, but the manufacturer should address this and include a more appropriate anchor so that you don’t have to make an additional purchase.

    This is a wonderful holiday yard decoration. It is very easy to install in the yard. It comes with stakes and ropes for anchoring him to the ground. It’s really cool that once inflated he shivers like he’s cold! The lights are nice and bright enough to illuminate the entire snow man. There is a cord about 5 feet long for plugging into power. It’s 10 converted to 12 volt. There are weights in the bottom of the snow man to keep him upright once he’s inflated. If you love yard decorations, this is one you need! The price point is great as well!
