Quality looks good. The battery box has a gasket that should keep it fairly water tight. The plastic rope is soft and supple. There is a plug connecting the battery box to the lights. I don’t think it is meant to come apart often but this allows you to put the box in your shirt pocket and run the lights out onto a costume or jacket for fun. It’s not too bright so it best as a back ground lighting. in my image it is balled up to about the size of a basketball and isn’t bright enough to read. that isn’t the purpose, just giving you an idea of brightness. The timer is great so you can put it up for Christmas or any holiday in a hard to reach spot and it will go on and off at the right time. only bummer is it doesn’t flash. with technology as it is I would think a flash mode would not be too hard given the size of the controller boxes on other led lights. for the price I didn’t knock off a star. It is still a great set of lights that is super portable for having fun.

This is an interesting example of modern LED technology at work. Note that SIX “AA” batteries are required to make the string work. Not that these lights are very bright – they would wash out in a normally lit room – but in the dark they are plenty bright enough. Being battery operated, they are electrically safe for children and open endless opportunities for decorating areas far removed from an electric outlet. With the sealed battery case, you can place your lights just about anywhere.

I absolutely love these microdot rope lights. They are really so fun to use, and so far we are having a great time playing with them and putting them in different places in the house. These lights are ideal for decorating when you can’t get corded power such as tent camping or like we did, stringing them along our back patio fence where we don’t have any power outlets.The light string is well constructed, the micro dot LED’s are enclosed in a vinyl type of tubing that seems to protect the LED’s and makes it easy to string the lights out without getting the line tangled.The string has plenty of lights, an average of 4 LED’s per foot, however, the light output is not too bright.The power is supplied by 6) AA batteries that are stored in a weather resistant box.The power box can be separated if needed but it takes a little effort to release the cord plug.You can not add additional strings, each string has to be individually powered. It would be nice to have an AC power option but not a big deal. The light timer on the control box helps to conserve power. So far mine have lasted over a week running 6 hours each day on the same batteries.

The lights are small but very bright. We intend to use them on a tree down near the highway. Since our driveway is over 1/2 mile long lights are not an option unless they have a timer such as this does. Every year I find the smallest tree available, use large plastic ornaments and garlands of tinsel, which is very visible in the daytime but nothing shows up at night. Even though these lights are small they will put out a nice glow in the dark so there still will be something to see. A bonus is that there were instructions with this item, minimal, but certainly enough to know what to do to set it up. The timer is for 6 hours on and 18 hours off so by having 6 AA batteries hopefully it will last the 10 days we need.

This is a very nice set of lights that should last for many years regardless of the weather, sun or rain as they are inside of vinyl. The real nice thing about these lights is that they operate off of battery power, the only draw back would be how long the batteries will last although I would not leave them on all night. When I received these, they were packaged in a very professional manner .
